Hundreds of men and women, decked out in their caps and gowns, took centre-stage at the National Academy for the Performing Arts, today, as the University of Trinidad and Tobago held its Presentation of Graduates Ceremony.

00:09 And on Tuesday, these men, women,
00:12 and their achievements were celebrated.
00:15 >> Congratulations again to all of you,
00:17 graduates and their loved ones.
00:19 >> Graduation day at the University
00:22 of Trinidad and Tobago.
00:24 >> As Chancellor of the University,
00:27 I declare this ceremony open for the conferment of honorary
00:32 and higher degrees by the authority
00:34 of the Academic Council and the Board of Governors.
00:37 >> President Christine Kangaloo asked the graduands
00:41 who were presented at the National Academy
00:43 for the Performing Arts.
00:45 >> Over the next two days, we'll recognize over 1,300 graduands,
00:49 students who have achieved ultimate feat at this time
00:54 in their life, of course, culminating at this point
00:57 in the current chapter of their lives.

01:06 >> This year, UTT conferred honorary titles upon four
01:11 outstanding nationals.
01:12 Professor Ken Julian, Honorary Doctor of Science.
01:16 Veteran Calypsonian Ricky Jai, Doctor of Fine Arts.
01:20 Ravindranath Maharaj or Raviji, Doctor of Humane Letters.
01:25 And Captain Roel Badalu, Doctor of Science.
01:28 >> When one considers that UTT is about to exist being a
01:33 teenager, I think we have greater achievements coming.
01:37 And I applaud UTT for all of this.
01:39 >> UTT says this year, over 1,300 graduands are being
01:44 welcomed into the academic community.
