00:00Hello, Saturday will be the drier day of the weekend with further snow for some of us to come on Sunday as well as some heavy rain as it does become milder into next week.
00:12For now though, Storm Goretti is now moving into parts of Europe and behind it we've got more settled weather but cold weather across the UK.
00:20Now where Storm Goretti continues to bring some outbreaks of rain and some brisk winds across eastern areas of England, it's still going to be a fairly miserable evening here.
00:28But it does improve as the night goes on. Quite a dry night fairly widely across the UK. A few showers across coastal areas, some of these falling as snow, bringing a risk of icy stretches to parts of Northern Ireland, much of Scotland as well as Wales and the Midlands where we saw any of that snow from Storm Goretti last night because it is going to be a very cold night.
00:49Quite widely down into sub-zero temperatures away from any coastal areas. We could be down as low as minus double digits as we have been the past few nights, particularly where there's any lying snow across more northern areas of the UK.
01:03You could also see some frozen fog across parts of Scotland. That could be quite stubborn to clear through Saturday but there will be more in the way of drier and sunnier weather throughout Saturday, particularly across Northern Ireland.
01:16Many eastern areas of Northern England, eastern Scotland into the afternoon. A little bit more in the way of cloud across parts of Wales, the southwest but still some sunny spells.
01:26And there's also a risk of showers across eastern parts of England. Some of these could be a little bit sleety. So plenty of dry weather, some sunny weather but it is going to be another very cold day on Saturday, just two or three degrees at best for many areas.
01:42So a chilly feel. Some areas not reaching above zero through much of the day. So a risk of ice into the afternoon for parts of Scotland.
01:50And there will be clear skies, another settled evening to come Saturday evening, particularly across eastern areas. Across the west though, you will notice this band of rain moving ever closer across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland by the early hours of Sunday.
02:05And as this rain does bump into that colder air, it brings a risk of snow. Now ahead of that, it's likely to be another very widely cold night, a sharp frost across many eastern areas.
02:17But that's not going to last that long. As you will notice, the temperatures are much milder on the other side of this band of rain.
02:23But when that band of rain bumps into that cold air, it will bring quite widely a risk of snow to many northern areas.
02:29We do have a snow and ice warning in force for many northern areas of the UK, up to 10 to 20 centimetres, particularly over high ground, but some low levels seeing some transient snow.
02:41I say transient because it will quickly turn to rain into the afternoon.
02:45It does bring a risk of disruption through Sunday morning, but quite quickly there will be a batch of heavy rain pushing in.
02:51So pretty wet afternoon wherever you are on Sunday, but particularly across northern areas as the temperatures do start to rise into double digits.
03:00We've not seen that for a while, 10 or 11 degrees across the west, but that's going to start to thaw that snow that we've seen falling over parts of Scotland and elsewhere across the higher ground of the UK.
03:12And with that mixed in with the heavy rain, it brings a risk of some localised flooding into the start of next week.
03:18So it does turn milder by the start of next week, but some further snow to come this weekend.
