A 40-year-old Barrackpore man is tonight defending himself against allegations online that he might have been involved in the death of his father.

The man’s 63-year-old father died at hospital on Tuesday, five days after allegedly falling from a coconut tree.

Speaking to our reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh at their Hassanali Trace, Barrackpore home today, the son said he loved his father very much and said there was no argument or fight which caused the fatal injuries.

00:00An autopsy is expected to determine the cause of death for 63-year-old father of two, Ramesh Lalbihari, of Hassan Ali, Trace, South, Bharakpur.
00:10According to his son, 40-year-old Brandon Lalbihari, a group of relatives, including his father, were liming and drinking alcohol at their home on New Year's Day when his dad walked to the back of the house to pick coconuts.
00:24He say he's going in the back for coconut. I find it taking too long, so I come and check.
00:30When I come and I check, I see him on the ground. So when I see him on the ground now, I call my cousin, Chris, two of us, pick him up and carry him in front.
00:41I see him in the chair and he was, you know, he didn't, he wasn't knockout or blackout or anything, you know, that I thought he had injuries on him.
00:52He says along with most of the group, he then left to Lyme at a nearby bar. And it was only when he returned the next day did he realize his father's condition worsened.
01:03Friday morning when I come, I see how he was, right? He was in pain. I didn't know he was in all that pain. My mother told me that he was rolling in the yard and thing.
01:17Brandon says they made calls to friends and relatives to take his dad to the hospital, but no one was available and they decided to see if his condition would improve by evening.
01:27However, when on Saturday nothing changed, they called for an ambulance. He says when they found it was taking too long, a friend decided to take them.
01:37Ramesh remained warded at hospital until he passed away on Tuesday.
01:41Brandon says there have been rumors circulating online suggesting his father's death was not accidental.
01:48He says he and his father were very close and denied having an argument or fight on the day his father was injured.
