Parents of a missing Moruga man are pleading for the public’s assistance to find him.

The father of two left his place of work on Tuesday but never returned home; his vehicle was found abandoned a day later.

Sick with worry, his mother and father tell our reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh that they want nothing more than to have their son back home and alive.

00:00Comforted by her husband, Margaret Charles wept at the thought of their missing son,
00:0632-year-old Shakeem Charles. Charles, a father of two, was last seen on Tuesday, July 9, 2024,
00:15but since then, calls to his cell phone have gone unanswered, then to voicemail.
00:22At his Indian Walk, Moruga home on Thursday, his parents told reporters that Charles,
00:27an audio technician, worked in Porto, Spain, and recently purchased a Toyota Yaris Cross
00:34and registered with a mobile app taxi service company on Saturday last,
00:39as a means of earning a second income.
00:57She says he tried it last Sunday and made about $500. So on Tuesday, when he finished work early,
01:07he called to say that he would try it again before returning home.
01:12But when night fell and calls to his cell phone went unanswered, they knew something was wrong.
01:27Investigations so far, they say, have suggested that he was last in the Pinal
01:38area on Tuesday night, and there was also an 8am withdrawal in the San Fernando area.
01:44A GPS tracking service, which was installed on his car,
01:48led investigators to it in Valencia on Wednesday, but still no trace of Shakeem.
01:58If they know anything, if they see anything, at least come forward and say something.
02:08Because my other son this morning said, mummy, we at least,
02:13we have, at least let us put out a reward. So if anybody see anything or hear anything,
02:23at least come forward and say something.
02:26She says while they are desperately hoping for some good news,
02:30they know the state of crime in the country.
02:33It's terrible and it's every day, every day is something. And it's only when it hit home,
02:40you know, and you keep seeing it in the media and you keep seeing things and you're hearing and
02:47you just can't come to terms with what's really going on. You know, when you're watching the news
02:54and you're watching it, they're climbing over your wall. You're even safe in your own home.
03:02So outside, you're safe outside, you're unsafe inside.
