00:28On Wednesday, the scene of the crime appeared untouched, a blood-soaked mattress and signs
00:34of where they spent their final moments.
00:37The suspect's mother said she has since spoken with her son.
00:58The victim's sister says Ramsaroop suffered years of physical abuse and left the relationship
01:12months ago, but the abuse continued.
01:15She says multiple police reports were made, but officers never took action against the
01:20suspect.
01:21On Wednesday morning, during an interview with I-95.5 FM's Morning Programme, Assistant
01:27Commissioner of Police Wayne Meister admitted that while the police has made errors before,
01:33in this case, he believes the necessary steps were taken.
01:37It was quite strange that that protection order is in effect.
01:41And then we had the victim proceeding to the home of the alleged defaulter.
01:46All protocols that were released to the TTPS were followed in terms of following the court's
01:51order, serving the persons and ensuring that that was done.
01:57And then we can't have persons who have protection orders to protect them.
02:02They themselves actually operating in a manner that will put themselves in harm's way.

02:13was issued on Sunday, two days before the murder.
02:18Responding to ACP Meister's statement, Ramsaroop's sister told reporters she was told by someone
02:25that the suspect entered her sister's car on Tuesday morning as she was dropping her
02:30son off to school and with a cutlass in hand, forced the victim to drive to where the attack
02:36occurred.
02:37She maintains that far too often reports of domestic violence are made to the police and
02:44little to no action is taken until situations of abuse end in murder.
