A manhunt is underway for a St James man after he allegedly stabbed a 40-year-old woman multiple times and kidnapped her 12-year-old son.


The incident took place at about 2 a.m. on Friday at the woman's home on Dibe Road in St James.

00:00Police were told that the suspect went to the woman's home and confronted her.
00:05The two were seen arguing and during the altercation, the suspect grabbed a knife and forced the
00:09victim out of her house.
00:11He then stabbed the 40-year-old woman multiple times.
00:14The victim sustained injuries to her back and both legs.
00:18According to a police report, the suspect then grabbed the woman's 12-year-old son
00:23and ran into a forested area nearby.
00:26The police were notified and officers of the Western Division, the Interagency Task
00:30Force and the Guard and Emergency Branch, among others, responded.
00:34The injured woman was taken to the St. James Medical Complex where she was treated.
00:38Her condition is said to be stable but serious.
00:42The officers conducted searches from 7am and up to 3pm today, they were still searching
00:46the forested areas off D-Bay Road for the missing child and the suspect.
00:52Police told TV6 News that throughout the day, the searches had expanded into areas
00:56such as Maraval, Fairways and Paramin.
00:59However, there were no signs of the missing 12-year-old or the suspect.
