00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office.
00:04As one low moves away slowly and fills, we keep showers coming across many western and
00:11northern parts of the UK.
00:13Another low on the way later this week to bring some more persistent rain, but for the
00:16time being the most persistent wet weather is across western Scotland, parts of north-west
00:20England where the showery rain will be prolonged in places.
00:24Otherwise it's a case of bright spells and showers, slightly fewer showers compared with
00:28Monday.
00:29Not quite as heavy, but still plenty around, particularly in the west.
00:33Dryest and brightest skies towards the east, where temperatures will reach 15 Celsius.
00:39Into the evening and the showery rain continues in many parts, especially towards the north
00:43and the west.
00:44Although inland, at least, clear spells will develop and showers will become few and far
00:50between.
00:51Under those clear skies, and as winds begin to ease as low pressure moves away, temperatures
00:55will dip into the mid to high single figures in places even a touch lower in some sheltered
01:00spots across eastern Scotland, eastern England for example.
01:03A few mist and fog patches first thing Wednesday.
01:06Otherwise a fine start to the day for many.
01:09Still a few showers, particularly for the north and western Scotland.
01:12Still a strong breeze here.
01:14But actually plenty of sunshine through the day.
01:17And showers towards the west and south-west will ease into the afternoon.
01:21But that's only ahead of the next low that is starting to move in, bringing some rain into
01:25Cornwall by mid-afternoon.
01:28But a fine day all in all for many places.
01:31Best of the sunshine by the afternoon across eastern England, eastern Scotland, and temperatures
01:35similar to Tuesday.
01:37However here's the next low.
01:40It's going to bring some heavy and prolonged rain into the south by Wednesday evening.
01:45And that wet weather extends across many central and eastern parts as this developing low moves
01:50through during Wednesday night and to the start of Thursday.
01:53You can see how the isobars are being added on to the charts, so the low is deepening as
01:57it crosses the UK.
01:58It's likely to bring a swathe of strong winds as well.
02:01Gales around southern and eastern coasts.
02:04The risk of 60-mile-per-hour gusts in some exposed spots, perhaps even a touch more in places.
02:08But the strongest winds will actually be across parts of northern France and then into the low
02:12countries as that low pressure moves through.
02:15So it's a very unsettled weather to come Wednesday night into Thursday with the next low on the
02:20horizon.
02:21But for the time being, it's a mix of bright spells and showers for many.
