10 December - National Afternoon Forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:01Hi there.
00:02Storm Bram is slowly filling and moving to the north of the UK, but still likely to bring
00:08strong winds for many, and particularly northern Scotland, the risk of further impacts from
00:13wind gusts through the rest of Wednesday as it moves away.
00:17You can see the tightly packed ice bars.
00:19Those winds also bringing frequent showers into much of Scotland, some heavy, lively
00:24showers, even some rumbles of thunder, one or two showers further south across England
00:28and Wales, Northern Ireland, but these are tending to fade through the afternoon with some decent
00:32sunshine breaking through.
00:35A blustery afternoon for much of the country once again.
00:38But a mild afternoon, 13, perhaps 14 Celsius in the south, 9 to 12 Celsius further north.
00:44But those wind gusts still causing issues in the north of Scotland, particularly Lewis,
00:49Caithnest, Sutherland, Orkney, Shetland, 60 mile per hour, widely 75 in exposed locations.
00:56The wind then slowly moderating through the evening and overnight.
00:59A spell of rain moves through across northern Scotland, eventually disappearing.
01:04A lot of cloud for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England, Wales and the south-west with
01:07a keen breeze continuing.
01:09But with lighter winds and clear skies further south and east, the Midlands, East Anglia
01:15and the south-east, clear night, but one or two mist patches.
01:19And we'll see cloud encroach from the word go tomorrow.
01:24One area of cloud creeping up from the channel across many southern parts of the country.
01:29And another area of cloud moving into the west associated with a weather front.
01:33This bringing out breaks of rain to Western Scotland, Northern Ireland, the far west of
01:36Wales and the west of Cornwall.
01:38A breeze picking up as well, but it's another mild afternoon, particularly where we've got
01:41some sunshine continuing.
01:43The Midlands, Eastern England, for example.
01:46However, this weather front out to the west, which is bringing some spells of wet weather,
01:51is going to be slow moving into Thursday night.
01:54Just gradually pushing its rain into Scotland, West Wales and the south-west.
01:59Not causing as many issues obviously as Bram, but nevertheless we are going to see the weather
02:04state.
02:05Very changeable through Thursday, Friday and into the weekend itself.
