00:00Hi there. Classic, very changeable October weather continues over the next few days.
00:06Deep lows over the Atlantic, tending to move through, but also tending to move to the north of the UK,
00:12swinging their weather fronts in and clearing things at the same time.
00:16Now, for Thursday, it starts off with this brief ridge of high pressure showers easing across northwest England,
00:24north Wales, and some decent spells of sunshine, especially through the Midlands, the east and south of England.
00:29Meanwhile, the cloud thickens towards the north and the northwest.
00:33Outbreaks of rain turning increasingly persistent and heavy across Northern Ireland, pushing into western Scotland during the afternoon.
00:40Breeze picking up here, lighter winds elsewhere, feeling reasonable.
00:45Temperatures around the mid-teens generally 16, perhaps 17 Celsius in some of the warmer and brighter spots.
00:51So, not far from average. A contrast compared with the warmth of earlier in the week,
00:56but we've lost the cooler winds that we saw on Wednesday.
01:00Those winds continue to change direction and continue to send outbreaks of rain across the whole of the country during
01:06the evening.
01:06Much of that rainfall coming in the evening for the east and southeast, clearing eventually by the end of the
01:14night.
01:14But leaving a legacy of cloudy skies for many parts, this broad, warm sector in between a warm front and
01:21a cold front.
01:22So, actually, temperatures will rise through the night, if anything.
01:25But it is going to be a blustery start to Friday, with outbreaks of heavy rain continuing.
01:31Always wettest over the hills of north and west Wales, northwest England, western Scotland.
01:37And, yeah, extensive cloud with outbreaks of rain just about anywhere as we kick things off on Friday.
01:42But the heaviest rain will be in the form of a cold front, which is crossing the country from the
01:49northwest.
01:49You can see those outbreaks of rain across the south heading into the afternoon.
01:54Whilst clearing skies further north will bring blustery showers and increased wind as well.
02:01That will make it feel on the cool side, but the wind will be especially gusty over the Pennines.
02:07It can cause some issues on the roads with crosswinds in places.
02:10The showers will be lively as well, especially across Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England.
02:16Some thunderstorms thrown in by the end of the day.
02:19Lightning and hail are a possibility.
02:21The cold front is going to be very active, but a narrow band of rain as it sinks southeastwards.
02:26So, always the possibility of some rumbles of thunder and some very gusty winds associated with this.
02:31But it will be a short-lived affair and it will clear the cloud eventually as it moves southeast, but
02:36not until the end of the day in the far southeast.
02:39Here, temperatures 18 to 19 Celsius towards the northwest, feeling notably cooler as the day progresses.
02:46And this cooler air mass covers much of the country from the northwest.
02:51Showers continue.
02:52In fact, they may well pep up into Friday night across western Scotland, Northern Ireland, merging to give longer spells
02:57of rain.
02:57And again, chances of some thunderstorms, some hail and gusty winds.
03:02Further south as the cold front clears, clearing skies and actually relatively chilly nights in places on Friday night,
03:09with temperatures and shelter spots getting down into the low single figures.
03:13So, chopping and changing over the next few days, essentially, with areas of low pressure moving through and weather fronts
03:20clearing southeast.
03:21We'll keep updated on all the comings and goings on our YouTube channel.
03:24Bye-bye.
