All right, weekend's best, weekend's worst.
00:05
I'll start with my weekend.
00:08
I'm going to go worst.
00:09
I'll start my weekend's worst.
00:13
Kevin Stefanski.
00:16
What was that?
00:19
My man's fool's Shadur Sanders, who, listen, he made a critical mistake on a bad pick.
00:27
But he is what?
00:28
I think threw three touchdowns, ran one in, or threw two touchdowns, ran one in.
00:32
No, it's three.
00:33
Threw three, ran one in.
00:33
Yeah, that's right.
00:34
He threw the last one.
00:35
A four-total touchdown, 370 yards.
00:36
Yeah.
00:37
Here you go.
00:37
Down two.
00:39
Two-point conversion.
00:41
Right?
00:41
In previous drive, he had run one in when the play broke down for about 10 yards out.
00:46
Here we go.
00:48
Hey, Shadur, I want you to come off the field here.
00:52
Let's run this wildcat that we've been doing all the time.
00:55
And then try to do a reverse.
00:57
Mind you, the person he tried to do the reverse with is somebody that hadn't really practiced it
01:05
because their other player was injured with a concussion.
01:08
So this was somebody else that wasn't really the person they had practiced this play with.
01:14
And they take Shadur off the bench, and they end up losing to the Titans.
01:18
And, I mean, just the worst.
01:21
Just the worst.
01:22
And that whole handling of the situation.
01:26
And, listen, I'm sure Kevin Stefanski is a good guy.
01:29
But he just, there continues to just be coincidences that make it seem like,
01:34
what in the hell is going on around there?
01:36
Like, it is hard for me to be convinced, like,
01:39
man, he's 100% about the best interests of the team and the players.
01:43
Well, the one good thing, Ron, is he's been consistent.
01:46
But, I mean, let's be honest.
01:48
I mean, they've all been bad since he's been there.
01:50
How many quarterbacks have they been through, you know?
01:52
Yeah.
01:52
And what a day.
01:53
I didn't watch the game, but what a day for that defense that typically,
01:57
or at least has the ability to wreck shop to not wreck shop.
02:00
Quarterback scores four touchdowns and throws three 70s.
02:04
And you can't win behind that.
02:05
Yeah, that's wild, man.
02:06
Yeah, but for him to not at least be on the field for the two-point conversion
02:10
was just wild.
02:12
Wild to me.
02:14
For me, man, Ron, I've always, I hate the thought of taking my quarterback
02:19
off the field in critical situations.
02:21
Absolutely hate it.
02:22
I got a guy out there that I believe in leading my team.
02:24
This is my guy.
02:25
This is my face.
02:26
This is my leader.
02:27
The voice of my squad.
02:28
Games on the line.
02:29
He just threw a dot.
02:30
Games on the line.
02:31
I'm still on the sideline.
02:32
I mean, I got something creative I want to get out there.
02:34
Yeah, that's what he wanted to go.
02:36
Right now to go get it.
02:37
So that's my weekend's worst.
02:38
What's your weekend's worst?
02:39
Well, my weekend's worst has to do with what you mentioned a little earlier,
02:43
college football playoffs.
02:44
And actually, more specifically, it has to do with conference championships.
02:50
Unfortunately, I think conference championships are going to be a thing of the past.
02:56
And I think it's unfortunate.
02:58
I'm not going to sit here and tell you,
03:00
I don't know the right way to handle conference championships.
03:04
But I know playing for an SEC title, playing for a Big 12 championship,
03:10
playing for a Big 10 championship, I know that should mean something.
03:14
And the fact that the college football playoff committee, you know,
03:18
just can't figure out a way to either make those games mean something,
03:22
make everybody else play one game like Vanderbilt has been petitioning to.
03:26
So everybody plays the same number of games and you evaluate them just like you do anything else.
03:31
Or they just don't mean anything.
03:33
And the final standings the week before the college football playoffs are what they are.
03:38
But, boy, the college football playoffs was bad this weekend with JMU and Tulane getting in.
03:48
But, boy, the conference championships, I think, are the big loser here, Ron.
03:51
And, I mean, I think there's a real chance that we see these guys do away with conference championships.
03:56
It was definitely going to be one if Alabama didn't get in.
03:59
Yeah.
03:59
If Alabama didn't get in and got punished for playing another game, that definitely would have been.
04:03
Well, you got what's going on with Notre Dame.
04:05
Well, it's not just the conference championships, but it's also how they determine who gets there.
04:08
Like, Duke should have never been in that game.
04:10
Never been in that game.
04:11
Right, right, correct.
04:12
And I think Notre Dame would have gotten in if Miami was in that game and they were the champions.
04:17
Well, it's easier to say, you know, no more championship games than it is to figure out what to do with Notre Dame,
04:24
who's not in the conference, and there is no conference championship game, right?
04:28
Who, by the way, I don't know if y'all saw that, but I believe they signed a contract with the college football playoff committee
04:33
that if they're in the final 12, they're automatically in.
04:35
They get an automatic bid.
04:36
Yeah, yeah, that's it.
04:37
That's odd, isn't it?
04:38
It's a bit odd in my opinion.
04:39
But I don't know all the details, so I'll wait to flush it out.
04:44
But conference championships, man, I just think Texas Tech blows the doors off of BYU.
04:51
Georgia blows the doors start to finish off of Alabama.
04:55
You know, you look up the Ohio State-Indiana game was a tremendous game.
04:58
Indiana, they proved they've got the horses, I think, to compete,
05:02
whereas last year I don't think they had the horses.
05:03
This year they do.
05:05
So I just think we've seen the last of conference championships.
05:09
All right, weekend's best.
05:11
I'm going to change mine because you just brought that up.
05:14
But LeBron was sensational last night, so I'll change mine from LeBron.
05:19
I mean, just down the stretch, big shots back at it, 29 points last night.
05:24
But you talked about the conference champions.
05:27
I do want to give a shout-out to Indiana.
05:29
Kurt Senzetti, that is deep.
05:32
I used to think Bill Snyder was the best coaching job, how he resurrected K-State.
05:38
What he's done this fast, I don't care about how the transfer portal,
05:43
there's still some Indiana getting guys in before.
05:46
He got a lot of those James Madison kids that are there,
05:49
and they are the number one seed Big Ten champions.
05:54
Tyler, when were you born?
05:55
What's your date of birth?
05:57
1990.
05:57
They hadn't beat Ohio State since 88.
06:02
Tyler just turned 35.
06:03
They hadn't beat Ohio State since 1988.
06:06
And they play often.
06:08
They play every year up in the Big Ten.
06:10
So that turnaround is, I heard Urban Meyer say it,
06:16
the best turnaround in the history of college football.
06:18
And it is.
06:20
Insane what he's been able to do.
06:22
And they've had multiple quarterbacks.
06:23
A via Scott Van Pelt.
06:26
Indiana had the all-time lowest winning percentage in college football history
06:29
when Kurt Signetti arrived.
06:31
When he got on the mic at Assembly Hall and started saying everyone in the Big Ten sucked,
06:36
I thought they hired a crazy man.
06:38
This is crazy.
06:38
Incredible turnaround.
06:40
Salute Hoosiers.
06:41
Yep.
06:41
I mean, that's...
06:41
Now they have the second.
06:42
From literally the worst to...
06:43
Second worst.
06:44
Now they got the second worst.
06:45
Since he's in his two years.
06:46
Yeah.
06:47
That's insane.
06:48
All right, your weekend's...
06:49
I'm going to go my weekend's best.
06:51
I'm going to go with Texas Tech linebacker.
06:53
Jacob Rodriguez.
06:55
I don't know if y'all saw this, but on College Game Day,
06:56
one thing that Pat McAfee has done is he ain't afraid to give away several hundred thousand dollars
07:02
on one episode of College Game Day.
07:05
They're interviewing Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez on the field during warm-ups.
07:09
His own warm-ups it is.
07:11
And he's got the earpiece in.
07:12
And Pat McAfee says, hey man, if you can hit the uprights,
07:18
I'll give you $250,000 to donate to a military foundation of your choice.
07:23
And he just cool, calm, collected.
07:25
He said, oh yeah, I'm cool with that.
07:26
Where are you going to throw it from?
07:28
He said, how about the 20?
07:29
And he center punches that damn crossbar from the 20-yard line.
07:32
If you hadn't followed, this is a great story.
07:34
Texas Tech is a great story overall, especially if you're a Texan.
07:38
But the story of this linebacker Jacob Rodriguez is a really cool story.
07:43
His wife apparently is a Blackhawk helicopter pilot in the military.
07:48
And she gets a chance to come to every game.
07:51
He goes over, hugs and kisses her, yada, yada, yada.
07:54
So that's kind of the tie of the military foundation that he's donating to.
07:57
But for a linebacker to just go, hey yeah, man, cool, I'm good with it.
08:01
And then he bangs it off the upright and goes over there and celebrates with his guys.
08:06
Hell, I think you ought to draft the guy right now.
08:08
Linebacker can throw it off the upright, cool, calm, and collected the whole time for 250 stacks.
08:13
He caught us off guard.
08:13
Because during game day, he was talking, he made a mistake in his words.
08:20
But he said, yeah, me and my wife, we've been married 10 years.
08:24
I said, 10 years?
08:26
Man, you're like 22 years old.
08:30
He meant to say 10 months.
08:31
Oh, 10 months.
08:32
But he said 10 years.
08:34
Multiple times.
08:35
I said, there ain't no way.
08:37
All right, what you got coming up?
