00:01every weekend has them baby the best and the worst ron the show hugley is out luke morrow
00:07is in tyler milner's on the ones and twos and as you just heard it's time for monday's weekend's
00:13best weekend's worst we do it every monday at 3 40 p.m and i'm gonna start this thing off
00:20baby
00:20i'm gonna start this thing off i like the bad news first go ahead and just get it out the
00:24way
00:25and i'm gonna tell you i i don't know i don't know the details or the impact that it has
00:35that a lot of
00:35folks are are talking about in terms of of uh what's going on in major league baseball but
00:42the worst thing that i've seen is tarik scoobal to the dodgers i mean it's getting i've never been a
00:51fan of the uh super team uh i've never been a fan of of it's it's hard for me personally
00:59to be a fan
01:00of of and root for those kinds of situations we've ever really experienced it here in houston so i
01:07don't i don't have to and i damn sure hadn't experienced it with my razorback so um i don't
01:11know that i've ever personally had to make the decision of like it's my personal team let me
01:15root for it but i know as as it happens in in baseball and as it happens in basketball i
01:22find
01:22myself rooting against those teams simply because they're just it seems like they're playing by a
01:28different set of rules and i know this touches you a little bit probably different than it touches me
01:33luke but the scoobal ending up with the dodgers just just it irks me in a way that and it's
01:40not even
01:40about being an astros fan it just irks me in a way of like how are these guys continuing to
01:45pull this
01:46kind of these kind of moves off yeah i'm with it it sucks it sucks for baseball and for the
01:50fans
01:50and the deal that's the biggest thing is like look it's a trade so if the dodgers put together the
01:55best
01:56package for him fine with me but i find it hard to believe that that's the best offer that the
02:02tigers
02:03got i look at a trade today that just happened while we've been on air where the red sox traded
02:07for
02:07adley rutschman and they gave up like three of their top six prospects and one of their big league
02:13catchers for rutschman who's been very disappointing meanwhile the dodgers what they gave up for one of
02:19the best pitchers in the game it almost seems like it's almost i know there's a conspiracy theory of
02:23like this is all intentional but uh it's just i don't know what these other teams are doing why
02:28deal with them in the first place because they already are so good why make them even stronger and
02:32then number two is like i said i find it hard to believe that was the best offer on the
02:37table
02:37for the tigers so that's what really frustrates me is that he went to the dodgers but they even
02:41have to give up a whole lot it's just it's just gotten too easy for them where you're gonna get
02:45him not have to trade a whole lot and the dodgers has got so much better it's not good for
02:49baseball
02:50it's it's annoying uh and yeah it was it was frustrating news over the weekend it stinks for
02:55baseball fans well the one thing for me luke it does give me like i before i could i could
03:00really
03:00care less about the dodgers like i i mean i could absolutely care less what win or lose as long
03:08as
03:08it does as long as they're not playing the astros i don't care now as i watch this thing moving
03:13forward
03:13when they play and i am in a position to watch the dodgers i will hate watch the dodgers and
03:19and i and i
03:20don't like being a hate watcher uh i'm just i'm just not a not a fan so tarik scoobel ended
03:25up with
03:25the dodgers that's my weekend's worst luke what do you got weekend's worst by the way real quick
03:30the last thing on the dodgers there is that uh they get an extra 66 million dollars a year because
03:35of their tv deal major league baseball set up a deal when they were bankrupt and major league baseball
03:40let that deal run until 2039 for whatever reason so now they have new owners and can spend money
03:46they're making an extra 66 million from their tv contract a year that other teams don't so that's
03:51another it's just a it's it's a ridiculous setup they have certain rules for otani that other
03:55teams aren't allowed so i get the disdain for the dodgers because it almost feels like they're
03:59major league baseball's favorite child right now uh my weekend's worst we'll stick with baseball but
04:05i guess this was like a women's professional baseball league this was their opening day over
04:11the weekend i have to plead ignorance i did not know that there this was even a thing uh women's
04:16professional baseball league and martha reeves who is an icon she was the the lead singer of
04:22martha and the vendellas who was you know they're a legendary motown group but she's 85 years old
04:28now and this uh video went viral uh i dropped in the rundown tyler do you have the audio this
04:33is
04:33martha poor martha singing the national anthem for this big opening day for women's professional
04:39baseball oh say can you see
04:51feel free to cut it whenever you've had enough
04:56this is a banger
05:01hear a bald eagle screeching somewhere in the distance
05:09it's tough they have those other singers for some reason they were not in sync if you watch the
05:14video it's even more awkward they were trying to like cue each other i don't know if they
05:17knew each other before this performance but uh it's it was sad to see a legend of martha reeves
05:23first of all props to her she's 85 she looks great the fact that she even got out there is
05:29something uh but uh it's sad it's almost like never meet your heroes it's sad to see somebody who
05:34is a legendary performer trying to perform at this big opening day and it sounded rough like that over
05:40the weekend it gave roseanne barr a run for her money for it sounds like they probably should have
05:44practiced a bit they probably should have got together and practiced a bit all right my weekend's
05:49best let's have a little fun here my weekend's best is no doubt about it that man los carlos
05:56correa the uh the report that he is going to do everything that he can to be back and help
06:02this team
06:02assuming that they keep playing the way they played and and that the season lasts long enough
06:07um carlos correa is progressing rapidly in his recovery from left ankle surgery and has not ruled
06:14out a return to the field before the end of 2026 carlos correa ultimately is his his report or his
06:23comments were i wouldn't be doing all this work if i didn't think there was a chance to play again
06:28before the year concludes he's ahead of schedule joe espada says uh he's he's correa has resumed
06:37running at an 80 to 90 capacity and is actively fielding ground balls so originally thought to be
06:44out six to eight months which is obviously last uh you know would would would cost him the entire
06:50season um i mean he's a couple months almost three months removed from surgery and he's at an 80 or
06:5590
06:56percent capacity from a running and fielding ground balls perspective so um i i don't i don't know if it
07:03ends up happening i don't even know if i should believe in it but i know i'm a i'm a
07:06los correa
07:07fan and if he can get back in an astros uniform and help his team at all uh in the
07:12playoffs i'm here
07:13for it my only question is sort of where he fits in because when you look at this lineup the
07:17only
07:17guys that are actually hitting are your third baseman your shortstop your dh and your first
07:22baseman right now and those would be the spots where you would put correa so i'd be interested to
07:27see how they play this you know if and when he does come back healthy how joe espada would manage
07:32the lineup really i mean it would never happen but the best move would be to maybe have him
07:36replace el tuve at second base would never happen uh but otherwise it's going to be tough because
07:42paredes is swinging well pain has been red hot uh you know and obviously you're done you'd rather
07:47keep him in the dh spot these days with how he's swinging so i'll be curious to see how they
07:51mix them
07:51in well you're on in left field and uh and and uh los could be your dh you can slide
07:57oh uh
07:57isak over to second and let that's true i'd rather los play third where there's not as much
08:02movement if that ankle is a problem at all so uh but yeah you got plenty of options luke don't
08:07don't
08:07don't lose any sleep over that but we got options all right we'll see we'll see if and when we
08:11get
08:11there but yeah i was surprised to see him out there over the weekend uh it looks to be progressing
08:15pretty well my uh weekend's best this is going to be a bit of a spin on it i guess
08:20i'll go back to
08:21that scoobal uh trade to the dodgers the trade is the worst but this is the best thing for major
08:28league baseball's owners and they can use this especially if the dodgers end up going on and
08:33winning the world series again this year but when it comes time to negotiate the new cba this off
08:38season the owners can just simply point to this trade and what the dodgers have been doing and
08:41say to the players union hey like this is why we need a salary cap because this is just getting
08:45ridiculous and major league baseball would certainly benefit from having a salary cap it's the only
08:52obviously major sport that doesn't do it and it's been much to their and much of the chagrin of many
08:57people in and out of the sport so if this leads and it's going to get real ugly we're going
09:03to have a
09:03lockout we'll see if we even get baseball in 2027 who knows things are going to get ugly but
09:07between the two sides but if this is that ace in the hole that the owners can use to get
09:13us actually
09:14get a salary cap in major league baseball then i might look back on this trade and say you know
09:18what it was worth it for baseball to to right the ship so i think the owners uh come out
09:24like this
09:25was the best thing for the owners this past weekend where they say okay here's all the evidence we need
09:29that we need to have a salary cap the players need to agree to this so that we can try
09:33to restrict
09:33what the dodgers have been doing
