00:00The world of sports doesn't stop just because it's everyone else's weekend.
00:05Don't worry, H-Town, Clint, Ron, and T-Mill will get you up to speed.
00:11It's weekend's best and weekend's worst on The Drive.
00:18That's right.
00:19As we say, weekend's worst, weekend's best.
00:23Yes, I see Joel saying his weekend's worst was the fake oiler uniforms last night.
00:30Was the weekend's worst?
00:31Yeah, they got on TV last night against the Seahawks.
00:35The fake oilers.
00:36There you go.
00:37You can send yours in, your weekend's best, weekend's worst, sports or non-sports related.
00:44I had a lot of worse.
00:48I'll save it for another day.
00:50I'm not real happy about myself and what happened and what transpired with that treadmill today.
00:55Yep, going to need to hear about that.
00:58Yeah.
00:59It just, it got so bad, and maybe I'll tell it at some point.
01:05There's a tease.
01:05It got so bad, I just collected all my items and just went on home.
01:10Sometimes that's a move.
01:11I had seven more minutes left on my workout.
01:18If you ain't feeling it, man, sometimes you just got to get up out of there.
01:20I mean, I just felt like I made a move that just said exit, stage right, or left, whichever
01:27it was, but it was right in this case.
01:28But, weekend's best, weekend's worst.
01:31I'll start here, weekend's best.
01:33I think the person who had the best weekend was Shadur Sanders.
01:37Shadur Sanders started out eight for eight against the Bills.
01:41Shadur Sanders had a good joint practice, by all accounts, and threw a touchdown pass.
01:47He ended up nine of 11 for 74 yards with a touchdown.
01:51Then he had a late interception as he was in there for his last couple of snaps.
01:57But, he had a really good game, and Deshaun Watson had an awful game.
02:05And now, Deshaun was named the starter today, but still, Clint, for somebody who, depending
02:16on how you feel about him, is a polarizing figure, right?
02:22He sneezes, I believe I've heard somebody say, and it's a story.
02:27Like, he is a polarizing figure.
02:30I think this whole situation with Deshaun Watson, and maybe only Deshaun could make it get this
02:36way, he's becoming likable even more.
02:41He's becoming somebody that people are like, come on, and now everybody in Cleveland cannot
02:47wait to see him play.
02:49So, right now, I think even though he did not become the starter, it is coming, and I mean,
02:54everybody loves them.
02:56He even defended Deshaun on the booing, and they still love him.
03:01This worked out in terms of just as best as it could be about you not winning a job, it
03:08worked out pretty well for Shadur Sanders.
03:10Yeah, it's worked out really well.
03:12I would even argue that not starting the season is going to work out well for him.
03:16But the, I mean, from the sideline interview, where he also made it clear that he didn't
03:26really like or respect the booing of Deshaun Watson to the post-game presser, where I believe
03:32he mentioned it as well, he has become, I was always a fan of the kids, but he's become
03:40a really likable personality, and you can tell he's just being authentically him.
03:45And when you match him up against Deshaun, it makes it even, even people who don't like
03:52him are like, oh, God, come on, man.
03:54Yeah.
03:54I'd rather him start.
03:55Yeah.
03:56But I mean, there's something about the young fellow that's just, you can tell it's not,
04:00he's not regurgitating something that his dad said, or something that Coach Monken said,
04:05or he's not trying to deflect or shield.
04:08He's just literally, you can tell, he's talking from the heart, and it's just refreshing in
04:15today's world, man.
04:16So it was, that was, it was good to see.
04:18I'm a fan.
04:18What's your weekend's best?
04:20Kyle Schwarber.
04:22Hey, I hate to say, I don't know, really the Phillies overall, but I don't know if you
04:25saw how the Phillies finished off the Cardinals this, this, I guess it was Saturday night.
04:29Yeah.
04:29They had a walk-off first time in years.
04:30Gee, first time in 530-something games that they had a walk-off, but that was, they went into
04:35the bottom of nine, down four zip, load the bases up.
04:40They got a base, bases loaded, double or triple, that got it to four or three.
04:44They tie it up, I believe.
04:47They tie it up with a single, so it's four or four, and then Kyle Schwarber comes to the
04:51plate and literally sits on one dead center, and this is, obviously Kyle Schwarber did it.
05:00You mentioned the, it had been, I think three seasons, three plus seasons since they had
05:05walked one off, but I don't know if you boys, I don't know if you boys had seen it.
05:10Did y'all watch it?
05:11Yeah, I saw straight away center.
05:12Did you see his, did you see his watching of the ball leaving this?
05:16Yeah, he hung in there.
05:17Gee, that was, I mean, to hit a ball like that.
05:20And you should.
05:21But I know, but Ron, like, that ain't, I mean, me and you do that right there.
05:25We're doing, we're doing backflips and throwing, I mean, the way he.
05:28I'm still standing there, getting around.
05:30My boy just hit it, though, and just, like, just stood there.
05:34I mean, it was so cool, calm, collected.
05:37It's hard to believe you could go from a swing hard enough to hit a ball that far to casually
05:43standing at home plate, like, as quick as he did, and watch that thing leave the park.
05:47He hit it into that forest they got back there.
05:49It was unbelievable.
05:50The whole thing, man, the comeback from four zip in the ninth, the way they come back,
05:55and then Kyle Schwarber hits the walk-off, the fact they hadn't walked off in forever
05:59with a home run, and then the fact that he just nonchalantly stood there the way he did
06:03after hitting the ball that far.
06:05When I saw it happen, I said, well, that's my weekend's best right there.
06:08Yep, they've won nine in a row, the Phillies have, and they are rolling along.
06:13The damn National League.
06:14All right, what's your weekend's worst?
06:16Mine's Deshaun Watson.
06:18Yeah.
06:19And not because he's getting hammered today, and I do – I don't like the way that folks
06:28are – you should cut him right now, and yada, yada, yada.
06:31I don't like Dan Norlovsky and all these former players.
06:36Dan said Cleveland shouldn't even go to – fans should stop going to the game.
06:40I hate that.
06:41I hate that kind of thing.
06:44But even with all that said, like, I don't necessarily disagree with what Deshaun said,
06:52right?
06:53You know, his point was, yeah, it's personal.
06:55Hell, they've been coming to say, you ain't done diddly squat.
06:57Yeah, it's personal.
07:00But Deshaun, you got to know better.
07:03Deshaun, you got to know, man.
07:05You ain't – of all people in the NFL, Deshaun, you got to know you cannot sit –
07:11you can't even shape your mouth to talk about whether it's personal or it's play-related
07:17or it's money-related or you've got to know.
07:20Somebody in your world has had to have the conversation with you of, hey, man, that's a battle you're never
07:26going to win.
07:27Even if you're right, that's a battle you're never going to win.
07:31Like that, he's got to know better, man.
07:33That was cringeworthy, the whole thing.
07:35Now, I don't care that he wears diamond earrings up there.
07:38I don't care about all that.
07:39He did apologize to that.
07:41Well, yeah, he said today what he should have said yesterday.
07:44But, yeah, that was – boy, that was a tough watch, man.
07:48You got to know better, Deshaun.
07:49And I'm not even piling on with they should have cut him or he shouldn't be the starter.
07:55I mean, I think there's a reason.
07:56Hell, there's definitely a reason why he's named the starter and Shadour's not.
08:01I'm not even a believer that, oh, boy, you named Deshaun the starter because you start your first two games
08:04on the road.
08:05Come on, man.
08:06I mean, if that's why you're not starting a young quarterback, that young quarterback hasn't earned –
08:11he hasn't earned the spot.
08:12But, damn, man, you got to know better, man.
08:15Golly, you got to know better, Deshaun.
08:16That was bad.
08:17My weekend's worst, just heartbreaking, and then just the stuff that really pisses you off.
08:27Ed Oliver, I think a lot of people know him.
08:30Obviously, he plays for the Buffalo Bills, but local, played for the Cougs here.
08:36Just awful news.
08:38Lost his son, two-year-old son, passed away.
08:43And, you know, one, that's the worst.
08:47Clint, we've got two young kids and just can't imagine.
08:51Can't imagine.
08:52And he's tried to continue to go on for practice, which, you know, you just never know how people grieve.
09:00But it's just awful news.
09:01But the other part about it is it was clear that the Bills with Ed Oliver made it understood in
09:10the media that this was not something that they were –
09:13they wanted Ed to be able to release this.
09:17And everyone in the media knew, except for Tony Farmer's punk ass, because he then came out, got wind of
09:26it, and then reported the death.
09:29And many people – Josh Allen just absolutely took him out at his press conference.
09:35Many people are upset with him because they clearly – it was something that many people in the media clearly
09:42knew.
09:42But at the request of the Oliver family and the Bills, this was going to be something – they were
09:49going to let him report.
09:51And, no, not in 2026.
09:53You've got to get the story off.
09:56And so this was something that had to – that I think he's had to deal with publicly before he
10:02was ready to deal with.
10:03But sad news, obviously, that is secondary, obviously, awful news.
10:07And, no, not in 2026.
