Test cricket is the ultimate separator between top quality cricketers and first class players.

And Justin Greaves pointed out that gap between first class cricket in the Caribbean and that of international cricket.

That's after the all-rounder scored a brilliantly patient double century to help the West Indies avoid defeat against New Zealand in the opening Test.

00:00Justin Grease began his innings with the West Indies in a familiar bat spot at 72 for 4 before making a match saving 202 not out.
00:09But more than his double century, it was the fact he batted for just short of 9 hours and faced 388 balls that characterized his performance.
00:17A feat he confirmed that West Indian players are not prepared to manage.
00:21Obviously it's a massive step up from first class cricket in the Caribbean.
00:24You know it's a lot more demanding both physically and mentally.
00:29But you know this is where I always wanted to be so you know I had to change you know the way I train, the way I go about my training both strength and conditioning and skill wise.
00:40So you know enjoying it, learning as I go along and obviously if I can pick up some tips from you know the other successful all-rounders around the world you know when we play against somebody pretty much do that.
00:49And one of those successful all-rounders he has leaned on is fellow Bajan Jason Holder.
00:54Obviously drop him a few messages in terms of finding out what he has done to have the career he had in test cricket so far you know but you know for me it's obviously just you know sticking to my process as long as possible and trusting my skill and trusting my belief.
01:10But Jason Holder isn't his only study as he took inspiration from a couple of the New Zealanders as well.
01:16You know obviously not scoring in the first innings and then you know going home and thinking about how both Tom Latham and you know Ratchett pretty much applied themselves on the pitch.
01:25You know I pretty much kind of took a page from their book you know each batter Tom being as patient as he was and then you know Ratchett and you know being able to execute his shots and you know having lots of discussions with Shea like I said before you know we've been pretty close since youth cricket days and you know for me just you know just being patient trusting myself trusting my game you know and just you know one ball at a time process at a time.
01:50While the focus is on the 31-year-old's batting prowess he also contributed with a couple of wickets in 26 overs and he gave kudos to the Windy's bowling attack in spite of their lack of experience.
02:02Young bowling group you know for us one ball at a time I think we can't think too far ahead obviously we always talk about consistency and you know wanting to be better each and every single game but you know once we once we go into the game and we have our plans once we stick to them once we trust them for a little bit.
02:20As long as possible and obviously being able to adapt if the situation does change but you know for us as a bowling group I think we've been doing pretty well and kudos to both OJ Shields and Johan Lane first test match for Shields second test match for Lane and you know I think they did pretty well you know held their own even when the situations got tough but you know once the guys keep sticking to their guns and we continue to trust them and believe in them I think we'll do well in the second test match as well.
