T&T cricketing superstar Nicholas Pooran has retired from international duty with the West Indies.

The 29 year-old who played 167 times for West Indies, pointed out in his shock announcement that the decision will allow him to concentrate on playing in lucrative franchise leagues.

00:00He played 61 ODIs and averaged 39.66.
00:04In T20 internationals, he had 106 caps and averaged 26.14.
00:11And at the age of 29, Nicholas Puran decided to retire from international cricket
00:15and will no longer represent the West Indies.
00:18He says after much thought and reflection, he's taken such a decision.
00:23Puran says, quote, wearing that maroon, standing for the anthem
00:26and giving everything I had each time I stepped on the field,
00:30it's hard to put into words what that truly means to me, unquote.
00:34Puran was a member of Lucknow Supergiants at this year's IPL
00:37where he scored 524 runs at an average of 43.66 with 550s.
00:43Having opted out of the England and Ireland tours recently,
00:46many would not have known why.
00:48Speaking of which, he has a message for the fans.
00:51He says, quote, thank you for your unwavering love.
00:54You lifted me in the tough moments and celebrated the good ones
00:57with unmatched passion, unquote.
01:00Puran also wishes the team and the region nothing but success
01:03and strength moving forward.
01:05He says, quote, though this international chapter of my career closes,
01:10my love for West Indies cricket will never fade, unquote.
01:14Cricket West Indies has also extended gratitude and appreciation to Puran
01:19for his contributions.
01:20According to the statement, his performances on the field
01:24and influence within the team have made a lasting impact
01:27on West Indies cricket.
