00:00The West Indies lost the ODIs 3-0 to England and surrendered the T20 series to the same opponents on Sunday with one more game to play on Tuesday.
00:09As such, the outcome has left Windies coach Darren Sammy totally despondent.
00:15Yeah, very disappointing. You know, the way we played in 2024, we were all looking forward to 2025,
00:25especially the contest we've had over the last two years against England, even though it's been at home.
00:32But we've been much more competitive in the series, so to lose both series and not get off the back yet,
00:41it's very disappointing because of the caliber of players we have in this team.
00:45The West Indies posted 196 with new T20 captain Sheop scoring 49 of 38 balls.
00:51Many say he's the one bright spot on the team. As such, Sammy wants the others to also do their part.
00:59He brings his leadership through performance as well. Like you said, he's been very consistent,
01:06very calm on the pressure. You wouldn't know by the expression on his face.
01:11My job as a coach is to help him be as tactical as possible.
01:16But like I said earlier, your team is as good as what you have, you know, and I mean,
01:25his players got to back him as well.
01:29Sammy is also pleased with Akhil Hossein's 1-for-33 from his four overs.
01:34Hossein missed the first game due to visa issues, but arrived on the day of the match and played.
01:38You know, kudos to Akhil, you know, putting his hands up and making sure, I mean,
01:44the number one T20 bowler in the world, being able to come out and, you know,
01:48he did have an impact on the game, you know, control the power play for us a bit.
01:54And, yeah, I mean, you would struggle when the jet lag start to hit, you know,
01:59but kudos to him, you know, he turned up today for us.
02:03Sammy is yet to decide if there are going to be any changes for the last T20 in Southampton.
02:07Vinod and Alaini teams export.
02:09For six, welcome.
