As West Indies embrace a new era under new captains, number one T20 Spinner Akeal Hosein for unity in West Indies cricket. Hosein in an exclusive interview indicated that some fans have been too quick to create regional strife by pulling down players. He believes it's a generational curse that needs to be broken if West Indies cricket is to rise.

00:00Under Ravman Pawel, spinners Akhil Hussain and Gudakish Moti enjoyed the most success

00:05so far in their careers for the West Indies.

00:08Hussain has taken 35 wickets at an economy of 7.07 runs during the period of 2022-2024

00:17in 67 matches.

00:18Moti has been slightly less economical, taking 23 wickets at an economy rate of 7.57 runs

00:25over the same period, but he has played less than half the matches of Hussain.

00:29However, was it Pawel's brilliance that caused the spinners to be effective or did it come

00:35down to their individual skills with the ball?

00:37Well, Hussain indicated that some fans are not appreciating their efforts in tandem.

00:42Instead, he says critics are trying to create a chasm between the two gentlemen.

00:47Sometimes the critics really need to zip their mouths a bit and stay quiet because I think

00:52these things can hinder West Indies cricket and hinder players as well and cause split

00:57in friendships and those are things you don't want.

01:01Hussain is at present the number one T20 bowler while Moti, who was ranked second in 2024,

01:07is now ranked 12th.

01:08Pawel often opened the bowling with Hussain while Moti was used in the middle overs.

01:13Together they saw the team rise from 9th to 5th in the ICC T20 rankings.

01:18This picture that they are painting, that's not how it is on the ground and in our team.

01:27We're a close-knit group so you know hopefully these critics can sit back and find something

01:33better to do as I would say because I know that there are a lot of talks about myself

01:38and Moti and at the end of the day, we see ourselves as spin twins for West Indies trying

01:44to achieve all the success we can for West Indies.

01:49With Pawel no longer the captain, it's left to be seen if his replacement Shea Hope can

01:53make the best use of the spinners towards the success of West Indies cricket.
