02 December - National Afternoon Forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:00Hi there. Not many places saw sunshine to start the week and quite a few places were very wet
00:07indeed. It's a much brighter day though on Tuesday with plenty of sunshine for some,
00:12particularly the Midlands, eastern England, eastern Scotland. Elsewhere still some showers
00:17moving through, particularly for the south, for parts of Wales, the north and west of Scotland.
00:23These showers will be lively. They'll be packing a punch, particularly around southwestern coast,
00:27perhaps even some rumbles of thunder or hail. But away from the showers, still some bright skies
00:33and temperatures, well, a little bit lower compared with the last couple of days, but
00:38eight or nine Celsius in any sunshine, pleasant enough. Then as we go into the evening, the
00:43showers in the south make inroads across central and some eastern parts of the UK for a time before
00:51once again overnight becoming restricted mostly to southern and western coasts. Away from the
00:57showers with some clear spells. Temperatures will fall, not dramatically. We'll still see
01:03lows of four or five Celsius by and large, but a touch of frost always possible. Eastern Scotland,
01:09northeast England, for example. And a few mist and fog patches here and there to start off Wednesday.
01:13Otherwise, it's a similar start to Tuesday. Blue skies for many, some patchy cloud around,
01:19some showers. Again, southern coasts, but more especially towards the west and northwest this
01:24time. Scotland prone to showers. Northern England, for example, parts of West Wales. Again, away from
01:30the showers, there'll be some sunny spells, particularly eastern parts of the UK and temperatures
01:35similar to Tuesday. We're talking about eight to 11 Celsius, typically not far from average for the
01:40time of year. Then it turns cloudier across Northern Ireland. The wind picks up as the day goes on
01:47and we're going to see the next system move in for the evening. That bringing heavy outbreaks of rain
01:53into Northern Ireland and then western fringes of the UK before it moves eastwards across the country
02:00on Wednesday night and into the start of Thursday. It's attached to this area of low pressure,
02:05which maintains the changeable theme for later this week. Another low starting to arrive as well
02:11to bring further spells of rain into the weekend. So yeah, it's going to stay mixed over the next few days,
02:17but at least there'll be some sunshine in between the downpours for Tuesday and Wednesday.
