02 December - National Morning Forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Good morning. A brighter day for many of us today. It won't be completely dry, however.
00:05There's still likely to be a few showers knocking around, but the overnight rain clearing away from the east coast at the moment.
00:12Some wet weather still lingering over the northern isles from a little area of low pressure.
00:16It's still quite breezy for some, and that breeze is bringing in showers from the sea across the south coast of England and around the coast of Wales too.
00:24Now, as we go through the day, we'll see a few more of those showers just drifting further inland.
00:27So southern counties of England and South Wales will see a few heavy showers coming and going, especially by this afternoon.
00:34Keeps some showers going in the northwest of Scotland, but for the highest parts of Northern Ireland, Central and Southern Scotland, much of the Midlands and Eastern England, it's a good-looking day out there.
00:43Dry, much brighter than yesterday with some sunny spells.
00:46I mentioned it's still a bit breezy, particularly close to the coast in the south, but the wind's generally lighter than yesterday.
00:52So even though temperatures are a few degrees lower, it shouldn't feel too bad if you get in those sunny spells.
00:59Obviously, not all that pleasant when these showers come along, which will still be on the heavy side and still zipping through well into the evening, generating quite a bit of spray and surface water on the roads for the evening rush out.
01:11Just drifting a bit further north as well, so we may see some showers cropping up over the Midlands, Northern England during this evening.
01:17And further showers then likely to return overnight into Western Scotland across the north of Northern Ireland.
01:23But elsewhere, again, generally turning clearer through the night and turning a little chilly, not especially cold for December because the air is still coming up from the south.
01:33But we could drop down to three or four degrees even in towns and cities, and pockets of frost are possible Wednesday morning.
01:39Overall, though, again, it's going to be that mixture of sunshine and showers with the sunniest skies over central and eastern parts, most of the showers further west.
01:47Again, not very welcome where we've seen the heavy and persistent rain through Monday across South Wales.
01:53Any extra showers coming in here could cause some further disruption.
01:56So we need to keep an eye on the showers here, a few possible on Wednesday across the southeast and through tomorrow.
02:03Showers keeping going across the northwest of Scotland.
02:05But otherwise, again, a lot of dry and bright weather around through tomorrow.
02:09But notice behind me there is another line of rain and another active weather front.
02:13That's going to move in through tomorrow night and into Thursday.
02:17Before that gets to us, though, temperatures similar tomorrow to today.
02:20So 7-2, maybe 10 or 11 Celsius across the south.
02:23The winds, though, for most places, fairly light.
02:26We will continue to see the weather chopping and changing through the rest of this week.
02:30For your full week breakdown, you'll want to watch Annie's video for the week ahead.
02:36That's available on our YouTube channel.
