This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the week ahead 24/11/2025. Crip and sunny mornings return to start this week but a big change in our airmass brings a milder and more unsettled end to the week . Bringing you this week’s weather forecast is Annie Shuttleworth
00:00Hello, it's hard to summarise this week's weather as we're going to see a little bit of everything.
00:05We start the week on a colder note. We've got high pressure building in from the west and with it a northerly wind returning.
00:12It's not going to be quite as cold as it was last week but suddenly colder than it was over the weekend with the return of some overnight frosts.
00:20With this northerly wind moving in we will also see some showers across parts of Wales, south-west England as well as the east coast of England and Scotland.
00:28But elsewhere it's going to be a dry and bright day, actually the sunniest day of the week to come on Tuesday.
00:35But it is going to feel chilly out there, highs of 6 or 7 degrees for most areas, possibly 8 or 9 further south.
00:42But if you're exposed to the northerly wind you will feel a bit of a difference into Tuesday.
00:48Now there is a change on the way through the middle part of the week and the jet stream starts to become more mobile
00:53and we'll start to see weather patterns moving in from the west throughout Wednesday.
00:58Weather arriving across western areas but before then another cold start to the day on Wednesday.
01:04Actually a more widespread frost to come particularly rurally.
01:07Temperatures could be down as low as minus 6 or 7 across parts of Scotland as well as some rural areas of Wales we could see them as low as minus 5.
01:15So definitely a cold start to the day but there will be more in the way of sunshine on Wednesday particularly across eastern areas.
01:22That's where we're going to see the longest lived sunshine.
01:24If we look further west we're going to start to see the cloud building particularly across Wales and the Midlands later on in the afternoon.
01:31Across Scotland and Northern Ireland we'll see this band of rain, this weather front moving in.
01:36Now the rain's not looking particularly heavy but it does bring with it a lot of cloud.
01:39Now behind it, it will turn milder.
01:42You can see temperatures increasing to 10 or 11 degrees across parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
01:48Still down in single figures though ahead of that weather front as we're still in the colder air here.
01:53But it should stay dry for most of Wednesday across the southeast.
01:58Now into Thursday we're truly in what we call the warm sector.
02:01So we're going to notice a big difference in the temperature by Thursday morning.
02:06Here you can see the 24 hour difference in temperature to start the day on Thursday compared to Wednesday.
02:12And some areas are a good 10 degrees warmer on Thursday morning.
02:16So it's definitely a very different feeling morning.
02:19But that does come at the expense of any of that crisp sunshine.
02:22It's going to be a very cloudy day with overcast skies and some outbreaks of drizzly rain.
02:27Again, the rain's not looking particularly heavy for most areas and it will be most frequent across western areas.
02:33Across the east it will come and go but we're not expecting too much in the way of rain throughout this week.
02:39What you will notice though are the winds picking up on Thursday evening.
02:42Particularly across the western coast of Scotland you could start to see gale force winds developing.
02:48But it's going to turn breezy actually across most coastal areas.
02:52And temperatures climbing to 13 or 14 degrees.
02:55Now into Friday we see this cold front move through but there could be some waves that start to develop along this cold front.
03:03So that brings with it some uncertainty in the rainfall and how quickly it will clear the southeast.
03:09So that's one to watch throughout the rest of this week.
03:11But we're expecting a pretty damp day for much of Friday across the south and east.
03:15And the next weather front as well also brings some uncertainty with further waves and where we will see the most intense rainfall.
03:22But it will likely bring another spell of wet weather in from the northwest.
03:27So a more unsettled day to come by Friday with the potential for some heavier rain compared to earlier on in the week.
03:34Temperatures though are still on the milder side of things but it's going to be another breezy day.
03:39Again very strong winds particularly across the northwest of Scotland.
03:42Gale force winds potential here and also it's quite breezy along the coastline across the south coast as well.
03:49So 10 or 11 degrees possibly 12 degrees but with the strength of the wind you won't feel the benefit of that warmth by Friday.
03:56Now as we head towards the weekend it is going to be staying on the unsettled side of things.
04:01It will probably turn a little bit colder again.
04:04But there is some uncertainty with the weekend's forecast.
04:07We're expecting this area of low pressure to develop to some degree out in the Atlantic before it moves across the UK throughout the weekend.
04:16But there is some uncertainty, some differences between models at this stage.
04:20Now here I have two different models.
04:22I've got the Met Office model and the ECMWF model.
04:25That's the European Long Range Weather Forecasting model.
04:29And we can see through Friday night and into Saturday how these two play out.
04:32Now the ECMWF model likes to develop an area of low pressure that actually sweeps more centrally across the UK.
04:40Whereas the UK, the Met Office model, has a low pressure sweep down to the south of the UK before it pushes up into the southeast.
04:47So there's some differences there.
04:49We're expecting to see an area of low pressure develop to some degree that brings the potential for some more persistent and wet weather across more southern areas of the UK.
05:00Particularly across the southeast through Friday and into Saturday, potentially lasting throughout the weekend.
05:06So please stay tuned this week.
