00:00The law says that I have to advise the prime minister and the president. I have not given such advisement as yet. I'm still sleeping on it, thinking about it, praying about it. But certainly in due course, the president will be advised of a date and that will be announced to the public.
00:21This would be the first time the TPP would be contesting the THA election as a formation of the party followed a fallout with PDP leader Watson Duke and Assemblyman resigning from the PDP party. Today, Mr. Augustine is confident of a TPP victory.
00:40The house was dissolved yesterday, which means that we have two to three months before we have THA elections. We are confident that we will perform as well as we did in the last election. We are going into this election now having 13 seats and we are confident that we'll be able to retain those and add to the 13.
01:05Screening of candidates by the party started on Friday and continues on Sunday.
01:11The majority of the screening will take place on Sunday. So we are here practically all day Sunday screening for candidates. By the middle of next week, we will be able to announce our full slate. But we are ready for the campaign. We are also very confident that Tobagoans will reward our hard work with another term in office.
01:31Commenting on the PNM's slogan of putting Tobago first.
01:35Ashwa Jack and TPP asking back for their slogan. They used Tobago first in 2013 when they lost all 12 seats. Maybe that's deja vu for the PNM. So let's see how that works out for them.
01:48You know, I don't see how they can honestly say to Tobagoans that after they have had such a long time in office that all of these wonderful ideas, they never had it when they were in office for all those years.
02:05They never made any moves to execute them for all of those years. And somehow magically they wake up and they're brand new. They're born again.
02:13And we ought to believe that. Tobagoans are not buying that. Certainly not in this election.
02:18Mr. Agustin said the TPP's campaign focus includes the achievements of the THA and a new development pathway for Tobago.
02:27That development pathway is from this year, 2025, all the way to 2040. And we'll be putting Tobago on a trajectory that will lead to a stronger socioeconomic growth.
02:41The Tobago House of Assembly was dissolved on Wednesday evening, paving the way for elections which must be held between January 12th and February 12th, 2026, in accordance with Section 22 of Act 40 of 1996.
02:59Chief Secretary Farley-Augustin made the announcement at the Plenary Chamber shortly before 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
