00:00PNM Tobago Council political leader Ansel Dennis remains confident of capturing the Buku Mount Pleasant seat for his party.
00:09This comes as long-standing former member of the PNM, Keegan De Noon, appeared on a TPP platform on Monday night,
00:17welcomed with open arms by TPP leader Fahli Augustin and introduced as that party's Buku Mount Pleasant candidate for the upcoming Tobago House of Assembly election.
00:31Chief Secretary Fahli Augustin in introducing Mr. De Noon said members of the TPP include T.O.P., N.A.R., Tobago forwards, UNC, PNM people who are all Tobagonians.
00:44Our final candidate is a gentleman who, from Florida, was the chairman of PNM Tobago.
00:56He decided that in the present moment, we introduce a visionary leader.
01:05Ladies and gentlemen, we introduce a visionary leader.
01:12Mr. De Noon said he decided to part ways with the PNM, citing deep reflection on the direction he believes the Buku Mount Pleasant Electoral District and Tobago must go.
01:29He further stated that when the youths of his district pleaded with him for better representation, he understood clearly that it was his duty to answer that call.
01:41Mr. De Noon spoke briefly with the media following the presentation of candidates at the Scarborough Esplanade.
01:47There was an overwhelming cry in my community for better representation.
01:52And so when the young people came to me, they asked me the question, what is more important, the party or the people?
02:00And so when that request came in, I could not have said no to those who had all faith and trust in me.
02:06The crossing of the floor sent shockwaves throughout the political landscape, as only last week Mr. De Noon denied rumours swirling of him in bed with the TPP.
02:18He also at that time stated he was still a member of the PNM and had not resigned.
