00:01Don't leave the table just yet. Carver's offering up another course.
00:04Here's a look at the new NECA toys, Thanksgiving, Ultimate John Carver Action Figure, No Leftovers.
00:09From Eli Roth's 2023 slasher hit Thanksgiving comes a second Ultimate Action Figure of the Holiday Killer.
00:34Donning his turkey apron, John Carver is ready to cup an unforgettable feast with a cornucopia of new accessories.
00:39This articulated 7-inch scale action figure comes with soft goods apron, interchangeable mask and microphone,
00:45bloody mask, melted mask, axe, electric cutter, cooking timer, cell phone on stand, pitchfork, kitchen knife, carving fork and corkscrew,
00:53plus multiple interchangeable hands to hold as bounty of unconventional weapons.
00:57I think before we begin, should we check with Dad to see if he's going to carve the roast again this year?
01:00Mom's also been cooking in the kitchen, and whatever she's been cooking, smells delish.
01:04We're going to take the tape measure and we're going to see just how tall John Carver stands.
01:08And of course, this John Carver essentially just is using the original Ultimate John Carver with a few extra fixings.
01:13If I'm looking at this correctly, and I like to think that I am,
01:16John Carver with his pilgrim hat is going to clock in at 8 inches in height,
01:20working out to be a figure that's 20 centimeters tall.
01:22Remind me to give thanks to the Postal Service and the reasoning why I never got the chance to get this review up in October,
01:26when here in Canada we would celebrate the holiday of thanks.
01:29Still, though, I have time to get this up.
01:31Before in November, the holiday is going to be celebrated in the United States.
01:35As said, though, already, this is essentially just using the original John Carver Ultimate figure,
01:39though what they've now done differently is giving a different mask,
01:41and they've slapped on a new soft goods apron that wasn't on there before.
01:45So are you telling us that Nick has just double-dipped the same John Carver figure
01:47to ship out a seasonal second helping?
01:49Well, yes and no.
01:50The figure's body, yeah, is going to still be the same.
01:52But he comes with a plethora, a plethora of accessories that weren't on the original John Carver release.
01:57The first John Carver did come include with a couple of different knives.
02:00He came with the musket, the dart gun, the sledgehammer, and the dated axe.
02:04He does technically come include with an axe, but it's not the same axe as before.
02:07This axe actually has a different colored head altogether,
02:10and this one looks certainly like it's more brand new.
02:12It's not sharp to the touch, so while I'm doing what I'm doing right now,
02:15I'm not worrying at all that I'm going to be drawing any bit of blood.
02:18It does get wielded in his hands, because the figure does actually have quite a lot of hands.
02:22What's odd, though, is that on the ends of his hands,
02:24he comes include with hands that are kind of more suitable for the dart gun,
02:27even though really the figure doesn't come included with that one.
02:29The figure does, though, have a couple of various different gripping hands,
02:32really a lot more hands than I think he necessarily needs.
02:35This is always something that really NECA does do a lot of.
02:37They release a figure, and then they give you a whole bunch of...
02:39Now, I understand, obviously, these hands are for either side,
02:42so it's not just the case of that.
02:43But if you then really start to look at some of the other hands,
02:46they're not that much different from one another.
02:48It really does ask the question,
02:50why can't they just assign the plastic as something else?
02:53Now, I don't suspect they're going to give us a human-sized oven,
02:56although that would be a nice additional feature.
02:58But one thing, though, I certainly would think is
03:00I don't think they necessarily need to throw in as many hands as they do.
03:03This one is a little bit different,
03:04but all the rest of the hands are so close to one another.
03:07If you grab, then, just one of them and grab another one,
03:09you would just think, well, aren't they just the exact same hand?
03:12They're not that much different from one another.
03:14This one does have, though, I guess, to be fair,
03:16a thumb a little further up,
03:17but the grip itself, almost very similar.
03:20The accessories also can continue as well.
03:22The figure does come also included with this pitchfork.
03:24Now, the first initial John Carver
03:26didn't come included with a pitchfork.
03:27This one does have, though, the prongs.
03:29Would it be the prongs on the end of a pitchfork?
03:31I don't know.
03:32Maybe.
03:32These are very soft and plastic, though.
03:34I do like that they've added some age to it,
03:36so it does look like it's been something that he just found.
03:39It's not something that he just brought brand new in a store.
03:41The figure, yes, does come include with a knife,
03:43but it's not the same knife as the original John Carver.
03:45He also comes include with a fork.
03:47Care for some dark meat?
03:49Such a gross scene.
03:51But he does come include with those as well,
03:52and a pork and a tall glass of red.
03:55The figure does also come include with a corkscrew.
03:57Now, if you've seen any of the movie,
03:59I mean, certainly the gory ending of that,
04:01you'll know that John Carver doesn't actually open up a bottle of red.
04:04He gets the red from another source.
04:07He does also come include with a timer.
04:10That's really cool.
04:10Now, the timer doesn't actually have anything that rotates.
04:14I guess it would be a fun touch if it could actually turn,
04:16but it does have, though, a nice little touch
04:18of actually painting the bell on the back of this.
04:20This is completely open, by the way.
04:21Now, I guess he does have a hand, technically, for holding this.
04:25Where's the hand? Where's the hand?
04:26Did I have the hand over here? I think I did.
04:28Or maybe I did swap out the hand.
04:29Well, no, he has this hand,
04:31which I guess you could technically fit the hand,
04:33like I did at the beginning of this review.
04:34Kind of wedge the timer in between that.
04:37You could, I suppose, also heat this up again with hot water,
04:39and that might be an easier thing to fit the timer in there
04:42in his hand that way.
04:44Lastly, though, I guess the last two things
04:46the figure does also come include with
04:47is he does also have the way to show everybody,
04:50the world, what exactly he's cooking that night.
04:52The little portable camera and the tripod stand
04:55are all one piece,
04:56but I think it's really nice the fact
04:57that they actually put in the little wording here,
04:59like everybody's watching the show.
05:00I would love to get my hands at some point
05:04on a large tabletop, just a fold-out table.
05:06I guess would there be one of this size
05:08and I could put like all the fixings on there.
05:10I don't know, will we ever get though
05:12a Thanksgiving accessory set?
05:13You can only really imagine
05:14what would be the centerpiece of an accessory set.
05:18Probably a little too gross for NECA.
05:20The figure does also come include
05:21with the carving knife.
05:23Yeah, lots of blood all over that as well.
05:26And again, all of these weapons can be wielded.
05:27When I say weapons, generally these would just be things
05:29that you find in the house
05:30other than maybe the pitchfork,
05:32but all of them can be held though in his hands.
05:34Again, providing that you use the proper hands.
05:36This hand, for example,
05:37the ones that he currently has right now,
05:39you just, again, stretch the fingers just a little bit
05:41and you can get the carving knife into his hand.
05:44Now for me displaying this guy,
05:46two things I'll end up really doing.
05:47I'm going to display it though
05:48with a little microphone piece.
05:50Again, this is the way he communicates
05:51with everybody else.
05:52And then I'm probably going to have him displayed though
05:54with the electric carving knife.
05:56It just feels right.
05:57Of the other accessories though,
05:59that come include with John Carver,
06:00these are like a lot more of the same.
06:03Now the figure does come include
06:04with a couple of swappable face placed.
06:06The one that he has, for example,
06:08is one that's covered with a little bit of blood.
06:09And then he has one that he leaves
06:11on the top of the oven.
06:12And of course it starts to melt.
06:13So he comes include with those.
06:15The thing about it though,
06:15is just to grab the original Ultimate John Carver,
06:18he had pretty much the exact same masks
06:20down to the point that even like
06:21the individual droplets of blood
06:23seem to be in the exact same spot.
06:26to almost really the point
06:27that I had to worry about
06:28which one belonged to this John Carver
06:30and which one belonged to the Ultimate.
06:32And I think I've separated them well enough.
06:34Even when it comes to really the burning masks,
06:36the burnt masks,
06:37this is again the new one
06:38that we get from the new Leftovers edition.
06:40This is the original John Carver Melted Mask.
06:42Very similar.
06:43This one actually is a little easier to spot.
06:45There's a lot more dark area
06:46on this side of the figure's face
06:48and a little less of that
06:49on the original John Carver.
06:50One thing though that is unique
06:53about the Leftovers edition
06:54is again that this John Carver
06:55does also have the headset and microphone.
06:57This microphone is a very thin plastic.
07:00So maybe I would even recommend
07:01don't do what I'm doing right now
07:03because there is the risk
07:04that that could potentially break.
07:06Changing out the masks
07:06is the same way as the original John Carver.
07:09First you remove his pilgrim hat.
07:11Then you'll remove his faceplate.
07:13Now this is the same face
07:15that we got with the My Bloody Valentine Minor
07:16where that if you take the face off,
07:19you have a shocked face underneath
07:22with a big obnoxious slit right in their top.
07:24Now from there,
07:25you just essentially take the mask
07:26that you want to use.
07:27So let's just take the burn mask for example.
07:29And on the inside of each of the masks,
07:31there's a little lip of plastic.
07:32Just line it up to the slot
07:34that's on the face,
07:35put it in place
07:35and then where's the pilgrim hat?
07:37Pilgrim hat's right there.
07:39So you essentially can really do
07:40the exact same thing
07:41that this John Carver did.
07:43With this again, John Carver,
07:44you just lift up the hat,
07:45take the hat off,
07:46replace it out.
07:47And let's just say,
07:48again, you don't want to necessarily
07:50take the apron off
07:51because I wouldn't really
07:52take the apron off of this one.
07:53I'd never be able to tie it up
07:54as cleanly as NECA did
07:55on the back of their figure.
07:57But let's just say
07:57you didn't want to have
07:58John Carver with the apron.
07:59You could then just use
08:01the headset mic piece,
08:03put that on his head,
08:04put the pilgrim hat back in place
08:05and then you'd have
08:06the two John Carvers displayed
08:07that way if you want instead.
08:10The bodies are going to be
08:10exactly the same.
08:11There's nothing really at all
08:12that's different between the two.
08:13The only one notable other thing
08:15that's different about this
08:16is that this one also has
08:17the Thanksgiving apron.
08:18It's a soft goods material
08:19and the way that they've tied this up
08:21is a lot better
08:22than what I would have done.
08:23I would have just untied this,
08:25but basically what it would only really be
08:27is the body of John Carver underneath.
08:28There's nothing at all
08:29that they've changed
08:30between the two figures.
08:31So really what it does
08:32then boil down to
08:33is again,
08:33you've just got yourself
08:34a brand new mask,
08:35which isn't really again
08:36necessarily this one.
08:37And now you've got the apron
08:38and then you've got
08:38the additional accessories.
08:39I think though,
08:40that's well worth it
08:41for the price
08:42of what they're asking for.
08:42I mean,
08:43the leftovers edition
08:44of John Carver
08:44is really just the same price
08:45as the original
08:46Ultimate John Carver.
08:47And again,
08:48if you have unique accessories,
08:49I think it's really well worth it.
08:51For the figures articulation.
08:52Now again,
08:53like they're going to have
08:53a little bit more limitations
08:54right around here
08:55just because the apron
08:56is going to be getting in the way.
08:57But John Carver's articulation,
08:59this was probably
08:59the easier head to use
09:01because again,
09:01like I don't have to worry
09:02about the microphone
09:02getting in the way.
09:03His head's going to be
09:04on a bowl joint.
09:05So you know what?
09:05We'll just take that off
09:06for a second.
09:07Head's going to be
09:07on a bowl joint.
09:08So John Carver's head's
09:09going to move up and down.
09:10It's going to rotate
09:11forward and back.
09:12And it's also going to
09:13rock as well.
09:14It's really tight though.
09:15You could probably
09:16even hear it for yourself.
09:17One thing also
09:17I really have to worry about too
09:18is as you're turning this,
09:20the loop that goes
09:21around the neck
09:21for of course
09:22holding on the apron,
09:23I feel is really close
09:24to the head like this.
09:25When you're turning it,
09:26you want to make sure
09:26that you're not pulling
09:27against the cord
09:28just in case that rips.
09:30The arms do rotate
09:30obviously all the way around,
09:32same as the original
09:33John Carver,
09:33but you're not really
09:34going to be able
09:34to bring out the arms
09:35any bit more than 45 degrees.
09:37I feel like there's
09:38a possibility that these
09:39could go even further,
09:40but with the way
09:41that it's stubborn like this,
09:43I don't want to force it
09:44for again,
09:44those same reasons
09:45as essentially like
09:46the way that that
09:47aprons wrapped around.
09:48He does have a swivel
09:49here in his bicep.
09:51Oh, I get more so
09:51actually not so much
09:52in the bicep,
09:53but the joint just below that.
09:54He has an elbow joint
09:55and he has it by two.
09:56So this joint right here
09:58and there's a joint right here.
10:00Between those two,
10:01John Carver does actually
10:02have a double bend
10:03in his elbow.
10:04Hands rotate though
10:04all the way around,
10:06hinge back and forth
10:07there as well.
10:07And again,
10:08like things get
10:08a little messy here,
10:09a little harder
10:10to kind of get access to.
10:11The figure does
10:11what seems like
10:12ball joints
10:13or something working
10:14behind the scenes.
10:15Like there's a,
10:15if we look at like
10:16the original John Carver,
10:18there's like a more
10:18of a softer torso area
10:20right here
10:20where like the figure
10:21does feel like
10:22there's a crunch
10:22that you can bend
10:23it back and forth.
10:24It doesn't necessarily
10:24stay in that pose,
10:26but it does feel like
10:27there's something underneath,
10:28essentially like the coveralls
10:29that they gave him.
10:30This John Carver
10:31works essentially the same,
10:32but you're going to have
10:33even more limitations
10:34just because the apron
10:35is going to be getting
10:35in the way.
10:36Legs split out
10:37and boy oh boy,
10:38do they ever split out far.
10:39You can take the legs
10:40and move forward.
10:41You can move them back
10:42as well.
10:43There's a swivel there
10:43at the top of the thigh,
10:44a single hinge only in the knee,
10:46which is again,
10:47really tight on my figure,
10:48but the lower leg
10:49does also rotate
10:49back and forth.
10:50Up and down goes the feet,
10:52back and forth the feet go too.
10:54The one thing,
10:54unfortunately though,
10:55is while on,
10:56it's a good thing at least
10:56that they put pegs
10:57on the bottoms
10:58of the figure's feet.
10:59The downside though to it
11:00is as you can see
11:01like in the movie,
11:01he wears more like
11:02running shoes,
11:03sneakers.
11:04So because of that,
11:05he doesn't have
11:05completely flat feet.
11:07So this John Carver
11:08may have a harder time
11:09to stand.
11:10But again,
11:10you can always again
11:11really use a display stand
11:13for displaying this guy
11:14on the shelf.
11:14I'd likely go back
11:16to the way he originally was
11:17when I first took this guy
11:18out of his plastic prison.
11:19Take off this mask
11:20and we'll just again
11:22replace it with a burnt mask here
11:24and just have him
11:26displayed this way.
11:27And then with all
11:28the cavalcade of accessories
11:29that the figure
11:30comes included with,
11:30there's lots of good stuff
11:31to go around.
11:33Again,
11:33like it's a really
11:34well worth figure
11:35even though again
11:36like this John Carver
11:37is essentially again
11:38using the same menu
11:39really as he had last year.
11:41When was the last time
11:42we got the ultimate
11:42John Carver?
11:43Was it last year?
11:44I think it was last year.
11:45While the menu
11:45is still sticking the same.
11:47The least though,
11:48you're getting some
11:48new accessories
11:49that weren't on
11:49the initial John Carver.
11:50It's really again
11:51well worth it I think
11:52to get both releases of him
11:54because not only again
11:55are you benefiting
11:55from getting an apron
11:56with the figure
11:57that wasn't with him
11:58before,
11:59but you're getting
12:00brand new accessories
12:01like for example
12:02the carving knife
12:03like the timer
12:04like the knife
12:05like the fork
12:06like an axe
12:06like a pitchfork
12:07all of these things
12:09again that John Carver
12:09can use to exact his revenge.
12:12This guy is available
12:13right now
12:13either in stores
12:14or online.
12:15I didn't have any luck
12:16obviously finding this guy
12:17in the stores
12:17but I did have better luck
12:18finding him online
12:19and he sells really
12:20for about the same price
12:21as the original John Carver.
12:22So for that
12:23you're getting again
12:24brand new accessories
12:25new mask
12:26which is again good
12:27and you're getting
12:27the benefit of the apron
12:28all the more reasons
12:29to give thanks
12:30that NECA released this guy
12:31a second time around.
12:33While John Carver's revenge
12:34may have come about
12:35after the riot
12:35at Right Mart
12:36I don't know
12:37if there's a reason
12:37why collectors
12:38have to riot
12:38NECA toys
12:39for releasing
12:40a double dipping
12:40of the exact same figure.
12:42Yes though
12:42while underneath the apron
12:43and a brand new mask
12:44there is really
12:45just the same
12:45John Carver figure
12:46as before
12:47there's at least
12:48enough changes
12:49and enough new
12:50thrown in accessories
12:50that I think
12:51that justifies
12:52getting this figure again.
12:53One benefit though
12:54at least
12:55is the figure
12:55does have
12:55exactly the same mask
12:57so let's just say
12:58for example
12:58you didn't want
12:59to get the first
12:59ultimate John Carver
13:00I don't know
13:01why you would
13:01want to pass on it
13:02but at least though
13:03you don't have
13:03to be committed
13:04to the idea
13:04that this figure
13:05has to have
13:05the little mouthpiece mask.
13:07Yeah you could easily
13:08just take the apron off
13:09if you wanted to
13:10then you could use
13:11one of the other
13:11two masks on the figure
13:12and essentially
13:13you just have
13:13the regular John Carver
13:14underneath
13:15but again
13:16like most likely
13:17collectors that have
13:17already picked up
13:18this figure
13:18have probably picked it up
13:20because they already
13:20picked up
13:21the first ultimate
13:21John Carver figure
13:22and loved
13:23what NECA did with him.
13:24I certainly do like
13:25what John Carver
13:26had done to his victims
13:27throughout the course
13:28of the movie
13:28some really brutal
13:29really gory
13:30kill scenes
13:31in that movie
13:31leading up to again
13:32the big feast
13:33at the end of the movie.
13:34What do you guys
13:35though think of
13:35the no leftovers
13:36version of John Carver?
13:37Well worth the pickup
13:38or a total pass
13:39on your plate?
