00:00She's not the first to use this Batgirl body, but does she make the better Barbara?
00:05Here's a look at the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse DC Classics Batgirl.
00:24A presence in Batman's world ever since she forcefully inserted herself into it.
00:28The tenacious Barbara Gordon has spent her life following in the footsteps of her hero, Father Commissioner James Jim Gordon.
00:34While James Gordon has done much to help Gotham City as one of the few honorable cops on Gotham City's police force,
00:39Barbara has done even more as Batgirl.
00:41Originally starting her career by imitating Gotham City's legendary Dark Knight,
00:44Batgirl has since become her own woman, fighting crime in original style and putting her years of training and brilliant mind to work,
00:50protecting Gotham City's underserved neighborhoods.
00:53I think before we get things going and we see if this Gordon gets it right,
00:56rotate the tape measure first and we'll see how tall the DC Classics Batgirl stands.
01:01Not go to be confused with the McFarlane Toys digital DC Classics Batgirl.
01:05Completely different figure.
01:06Well, same what body, somewhat similar body.
01:09Different color altogether.
01:10We'll kind of talk more about that in a moment.
01:12I also did actually grab this one from Papa the Toy Man.
01:14Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
01:16If you guys are interested and would like to check out his wares, you can click the link down below and check out those wares.
01:21In the meantime, though, with what Batgirl's wearing right now, the figure's going to stand at, what, about six and three-quarters of an inch in height, give or take?
01:28That's going to work out to be a figure that's 17 centimeters tall.
01:31I'll find Batgirl with an interesting character study on character building because if you're looking at her body,
01:35her body really is just using the same one that we got already with the three Jokers.
01:39This Batgirl obviously now does change out and gets a fabric cape.
01:42That's pretty cool.
01:43And she also gets a brand new cowl.
01:44That's cool, too.
01:45But, yeah, the rest of the body, though, is exactly the same.
01:48They've just changed up the color.
01:49Not, though, the first time, though, that this body has been used.
01:52Well, at least, though, the lower half.
01:55Bringing in the build of Batmobile.
01:56Why are we doing that?
01:57If we go further back to the original days of the DC Multiverse, this was the first time.
02:02This was the first time, though, that we did get the lower half of that Batgirl's legs.
02:07And, again, they've just really, really used the same legs for every single release ever since.
02:11There has been, again, the Gotham.
02:12It was like the Gotham Knights Batgirl that was a little bit different, a brand new sculpt altogether.
02:16But for the most part, though, they have used, just recycled the same parts.
02:20But what was then interesting, if you ever had to get your chance to grab the Cassandra Cain Batgirl,
02:25we mentioned this in her review, that the lower half of her body is using the lower half of the original Batgirl.
02:30And the top half of her body is using the top half of the three Jokers Batgirl.
02:35Does anybody really care?
02:37Oh, some of you do care.
02:39Thank you for caring.
02:40I hope you care, as well.
02:41Let's bring in some other examples of characters that you can display, along with the classics Batgirl.
02:44Here's what the figure looks like with, though, the Nightfall Batman.
02:47I mean, good one to go with.
02:49Here's also what she looks like with the classics Robin.
02:50I probably should have also brought in maybe that Nightwing with the popped collar and all.
02:54And speaking, though, of classics, we just recently, in fact...
02:57Oh, I just dropped the Batmobile.
02:58We just recently looked at a classic-looking character.
03:01And here's also what the figure looks like with the classics...
03:03If I give him the stand.
03:05With the classics.
03:07Classics Scarecrow.
03:08May I draw your attention to the following accessories?
03:10Batgirl first does come included a black display stand.
03:13No different of a stand than your traditional DC Multiverse stands,
03:16other than the fact that now they've decked it out all in a classic white logo.
03:19In walking distance, you don't need your dad to give you a ride.
03:22Right from there, you can actually get yourself very close in proximity,
03:25a peg that can plug into either one of Batgirl's boots.
03:28She has two boots.
03:29She has one peg.
03:30You can, I'm sure, do the math.
03:31Let's just move the stand off to the side.
03:34The figure does also come included with a trading card.
03:36If you were to nickel and dime the details,
03:38then you probably would notice that there are a few inconsistencies,
03:42but I think they get more right than they do get wrong.
03:44The boots are pretty close.
03:45The belt is pretty close.
03:47The gloves and even the cowl look all really close.
03:49And I think even the color they've landed quite well.
03:51The only thing I could probably critique is maybe like this one does have slightly longer ears,
03:56and it does have, drawing more attention to her chest, slightly smaller of a Batgirl logo.
04:01This one, again, uses the larger logo.
04:03I mean, you sort of have to pick your battles.
04:04On the one end, yes, they are just, again, recycling the same body as the three Jokers Batgirl.
04:09But then on the other end, you have to also look at the positives.
04:12In the end, though, we are getting ourselves a classic Batgirl, and that's not a bad thing at all.
04:16So, yes, while the logo is a little bit larger, I can accept that.
04:20In exchange, I give myself a classic Barbara Gordon.
04:23The figure does recycle a few other things as well.
04:26She does have a grapple line, and she does also come included with a Batarang.
04:29Why I say, though, recycling, let's just bring in the ones I was going to use for the examples.
04:34The original Batgirl that did have the drive-in Batmobile does actually use the exact same accessories.
04:39Hers, though, were in gold.
04:40New Batgirls has those in blue.
04:42Does it come in blue?
04:43Yeah, yeah, it does.
04:44You can probably see for yourself.
04:44So, the grapple line, again, is no different either.
04:47Here's the original Batgirl grapple line.
04:51And then, again, there's the new one.
04:53So, again, the exact same sculpt, just a different molding of plastic, and different application of paints.
05:00Both of them can be wielded in her hands.
05:02The figure does have, first of all, a gripping hand that has a trigger-firing finger on the end.
05:07So, it kind of gives you at least an idea of which hand is going to be holding which accessory.
05:10I don't think it really does necessarily matter, but this one holds the grapple line.
05:14Oh, a little bit better.
05:17This one struggles a little bit more, though, to try to get the Batarang in her hand, just because the Batarangs are so, so large in size.
05:24You have to kind of really wedge that in there.
05:26And even then, I feel like, really, the Batarang is way too big for her hand to hold.
05:31But, again, that's what she looks like with both of her accessories.
05:33Can we remove them now?
05:35Just put them off to the side.
05:37Okay, so getting a closer look at Batgirl.
05:39Love the look, first of all, that we're getting a classic design of her.
05:42We get, of course, the long locks of red on the back.
05:45This is a much harder of plastic than I was expecting.
05:48There's a little bit of give, but not a whole lot.
05:50Again, that comes out tucked out the back of a cowl.
05:53The front of the face looks pretty good.
05:55You know, I looked, though, at the card kind of before I got things underway, and I was kind of thinking to myself,
05:58would she have worked better to have a big smile?
06:01Because, again, like, Batgirl's jolly.
06:02Of course, she does get jolly until she gets shot in the back by the Joker.
06:05But, you know, still, I like a smiling Batgirl, but would that have worked really well for a figure that would be always staction on your shelf?
06:12You know, again, like, expressions work fine and good for the few moments that you have it.
06:16But then after a while, like, would you start looking at that and thinking, well, why is she always really smiling?
06:21I would like more of just a serious look for Batgirl.
06:23You can let me know down below if you'd like to participate.
06:26Do you think, though, that having a smile on Batgirl's face would have worked better for the figure?
06:30Or do you like, though, that she has more just a neutral expression?
06:33I think for the face, though, it's still pretty good.
06:35She's got the dark shadowing there on the front.
06:38I really probably should have brought in the convention-exclusive Nightfall Batman, because, again, he has something similar as well.
06:44The black does add a whole lot of extra personality and character to her face.
06:48I think the face as a whole is pretty as well.
06:50She's got the red there on the lips, really large eyes.
06:52I think they've done a nice job, though, of painting the eyes and a little bit of eyeshadow on the top.
06:57Oh, why didn't she go with blue?
06:58I don't think blue eyeshadow would have worked as well.
07:00Again, one of the big pluses of this figure is the fact that she does have a fabric cape.
07:04The fabric cape is very similar to, like, the Silver Age Batman.
07:07And, yeah, now that I kind of think about that, I probably should have brought him in also as well.
07:10But, yeah, the cape is good and thick.
07:12It does have a wire that runs from the top of the shoulder right to the bottom of the point.
07:18And it does on the other side as well.
07:20So, you know, again, you can manipulate that if you want.
07:22If you were to fan out the wings as far as they will go, that's a big-looking cape.
07:26Look at the size of that.
07:27And the quality of the cape is really good.
07:30I mean, like, it's good and thick.
07:31The inside of it is nicely done here in black because the outside does just shimmer.
07:35Shimmer with the studio lights bouncing off of it.
07:38I like the look of the cape quite a lot.
07:39It's not too excessive either.
07:41So, again, like, you can't still fold it down.
07:44I think some probably would have preferred if maybe the cape was just a little bit shorter.
07:48I think it's maybe the right length.
07:50Maybe it could have just been to about here.
07:52But I don't think that that's really all that.
07:54I mean, if you wanted to.
07:55I mean, it may fray the bottom of the edges.
07:57But I'm sure you probably could just match the shape.
08:00Angle point into point.
08:01You probably could trim this just a bit.
08:03Maybe it's a little on the longer side.
08:05It doesn't really bother me all that much.
08:07It certainly doesn't drape the way that the 66 Batman does.
08:11Remember, again, his are kind of dragging.
08:13Overall, though, again, like, the bodies are going to be exactly the same.
08:15So, there's this one.
08:16And then, again, like, there's the three Jokers back row.
08:19If you were to, again, to look at the torso, the arms.
08:21I think even, like, the gloves, the boots.
08:24And even, like, the belt.
08:25The belt is one thing, though.
08:27By carrying over the same mold, at least they got it right matching it to the card.
08:30The colors are much lighter, though, certainly.
08:32Instead of going with more of the darker gray and kind of more of the warmer yellow.
08:36They go with more of a lighter gray and a lighter yellow.
08:39And that does look good.
08:40The paint on the yellow, I think, could have probably used another maybe coat.
08:44Because it does look like it.
08:45Not necessarily that anything's bleeding through it.
08:48But it does, kind of looking at it, feel like it needed another coat of yellow.
08:51The gloves look good.
08:52Again, like you've got your utility belt.
08:54The utility belt actually is more of a kind of a rubbery plastic.
08:58Like, this whole lower trunk area is all pretty much the same.
09:01There are, again, a few little things that, again, like, as a carried over from the previous figure,
09:05she does, again, have some panel lines there on the inside of her leg.
09:08The original Batgirl costume really wouldn't have had that.
09:10But, again, it's so marginal.
09:12It's so minimal.
09:13It's not enough that I think would drive anybody crazy.
09:15And, again, she does also have traction sculpting on the bottoms of her soles.
09:19So I like that as well.
09:20For the figure's articulation.
09:21Now, Batgirl does have a ball joint in the head.
09:23For the obvious reasons of having longer hair like this,
09:26it does limit some of it, but not as much as you would think.
09:29The head does rotate all the way around.
09:31I think where more gets hung up is when it tries to have the head angle back.
09:35You can feel that it does bend back, but then the hair sort of pushes it back forward.
09:39The hair looks down, or the head looks down quite a bit there, too.
09:42And, again, you can also rock it back and forth as well.
09:44Should we look at the torso?
09:46I keep wanting to ask you guys for your participation.
09:49The torso does bend quite a bit.
09:51Not only does it move on its own for the top of the torso,
09:54but then on the bottom of the abdomen also does the same.
09:56So there's quite a bit of movement that you can do for Batgirl.
10:00That's making me just dizzy looking at that.
10:02The arms do rotate, obviously, all the way around.
10:04You can bring those arms out comfortably at 90 degrees, or your capital T pose.
10:08Yeah, yeah.
10:09Swivel at the bicep.
10:10A double hinge on the elbow.
10:12And the hands do rotate all the way around.
10:13A hinge back and forth.
10:14Figure doesn't really have any other hands.
10:16You know, again, like, I guess if you want to give her some gestured hands,
10:19you'd probably have to check your tickle trunk
10:21and maybe see if you can maybe find some swappable hands that were in yellow.
10:24I don't know if there's really been enough of yellow hands out there
10:26that you could color match them, certainly of that size.
10:29But again, like, gripping hands are fine.
10:30Because again, she has two accessories to hold.
10:32Legs go forward.
10:33How far?
10:33That far.
10:34They go back.
10:35Only about that far.
10:36There's a swivel there at the top of the thigh.
10:44I was wondering if anybody would stop for a second and say,
10:46hey, I think something's wrong with this guy's video.
10:48No, no, I was just being a jerk.
10:50Figure does have a double hinge on the knee.
10:51No articulation here for the boots.
10:53I mean, that's just one continued sculpt from the calf.
10:56Ankle pivot up and down.
10:57Ankle rocker there as well.
10:58And the figure does also have toe articulation too.
11:01Good looking Batgirl.
11:01Good looking Batgirl.
11:02I'm really happy though.
11:04I mean, you know, as we get near the end,
11:05I always kind of keep saying this in these reviews.
11:07As we get near the end, not of reviewing,
11:09but of the lifespan of the DC multiverse
11:12and what Todd's been doing with the rest of his team
11:14and making these figures,
11:15we seem to be kind of getting the best figures now.
11:17I mean, still though, while they're using obviously the same body as this Batgirl,
11:21they've done it at least in a way where I feel it's a fresh figure.
11:24The colors are a lot more vibrant.
11:25I mean, obviously, if you really just want a classic Batgirl,
11:28this does it a lot better than any other Batgirl that we've gotten up to this point.
11:32And again, what's rather interesting though about this particular Batgirl,
11:35if I just reach off for right now,
11:36there is again, this Batgirl,
11:39which we probably likely be making another revisit
11:42or going back to looking at another review.
11:43This is again, Batgirl DC classic.
11:45So you don't want to make sure you get it confused
11:47with the one that we're looking at right here.
11:49This one though is marked as McFarland Toys Digital.
11:52And this one basically is just using this exact same body
11:54right down to the very details.
11:56And they're just doing it in purple instead.
11:58We likely will be looking at that in an upcoming review.
12:01I think though, if you really want a DC classic
12:02or just a classic Batgirl by far,
12:04this is the best one for that.
12:06If you were to go looking at that figure,
12:08and again, you'd go back to check the card.
12:10There are again, a few little things
12:11that aren't really 100% right.
12:13I think the biggest thing really is the fact
12:14that this one doesn't have the longer ears.
12:16The figure here doesn't have longer ears
12:17and she doesn't have as small of a Batgirl logo
12:21as the one that we are featuring here
12:22on the front of the image.
12:23Other than that though,
12:24I don't mind the fact that we are getting
12:26just a carbon copy of this one.
12:27If it does mean, and in the end,
12:29you have to again, look at the positives.
12:30In the positive end of things,
12:32we finally have ourselves a classic Batgirl.
12:34And if that meant that we had to get to the end of that
12:36by using some of the cheats
12:38of using previous figures to get to that goal,
12:40I think the goal at least though,
12:41is that we finally have a Batgirl
12:42that's going to go really well
12:43with all the other classics figures
12:45we've gotten thus far.
12:47While yes, this Batgirl is hand-me-downs aplenty
12:49between previous body builds
12:50and the parts that she holds,
12:52she is essentially just the sum of many other parts.
12:54Yet though, the figure does seem to shine on her own,
12:56not just saying that for the fact
12:57that she does have now a fabric cape.
12:59The fabric does have the dark interior
13:01and a shinier exterior.
13:03Maybe more that I look at it,
13:04the cape probably could have been
13:06just a little bit shorter,
13:08but having though a wire built into the sides
13:10is that the cape does give the chance
13:11for the cape to do more
13:12than what plastic could have done
13:13in the first place.
13:14A brand new headpiece
13:15is also brought to the table here as well.
13:17And the figure does have,
13:18while still using the same grapple gun
13:20and the Batarang
13:21from the first build of Batmobile Batgirl,
13:24she at least has the colors
13:25to match the new costume.
13:26Lighter in the gray,
13:27lighter in the yellow,
13:28and lighter in the blue as well.
13:30All in all,
13:30it's a great looking Batgirl.
13:32I'm glad though,
13:33that we finally got one
13:34that's closer,
13:34as we get obviously closer
13:36to the last lineage
13:37of this line coming out.
13:38Still though,
13:39we get a final chance
13:40to add a classic looking Batgirl
13:42to the shelf
13:42because up to this point,
13:44all the ones that we,
13:45my go-to Batgirl up to this point
13:47really was the Three Jokers one
13:48because it kind of matched the colors
13:50and it looked the most like Barbara.
13:52That one's clearly going to be replaced now
13:53by the one that we're getting here.
13:55Now this again,
13:56not to be confused,
13:57there is the DC Multiverse
13:58DC Classic Batgirl.
14:00I know it's the same one
14:01that we looked at here,
14:02but the one that is
14:03the McFarland Toys Digital
14:04is just essentially
14:06a purple repaint
14:07or purple cast plastic version
14:09of the Three Jokers Batgirl.
14:10So you really want to make sure though
14:11that when you're ordering
14:12anything online,
14:13don't just go by description alone.
14:15Make sure if anything,
14:16that it's the DC Classic Batgirl,
14:18the one that has
14:19the classic Barbara Gordon face,
14:21not the one that's just
14:22the purple Batgirl
14:23from the previous build
14:24from before.
14:25What do you guys again
14:26think of Classic Batgirl?
14:27This is an instant pickup
14:28or you're still not sure
14:30if this is the one
14:30that's perfectly capturing
14:31Barbara Gordon?
14:33Let me know what you think
14:33of it down below
14:34in the comment section.
14:35Again, I'd like to thank
14:36Popeye the Toy Man.
14:37Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
14:39He had this one available.
14:40I actually picked this one up.
14:41I picked up a whole bunch
14:42of DC Multiverse figures,
14:43so we will be,
14:44thanks to him,
14:45looking at a bunch of them
14:46in upcoming videos
14:46for the rest of this week.
14:47As always, guys,
14:48thanks for watching.
14:49See you guys next time.
