00:00Uh-oh, I can see that terror is building, brick by brick.
00:04Here's your spooky spot on the Shenzhen Horror Characters Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger
00:08building sets.
00:09This Halloween building block set shows classic horror figures.
00:31You can see a dagger in one's hand and another distinctive sharp knife claw in the other.
00:35This horror figure building kit consists of 625 building piece blocks attached to detailed
00:41manuals so you can follow step-by-step to assemble it.
00:43Unable to help me build because he has no hands with a soul-sucking candle that's joining
00:47us for this video.
00:48I found this on Amazon.
00:49Perhaps maybe not a rabbit hole I want to be going down.
00:51This has been made.
00:52I mean, actually, there's a company I think that's listed as Shenzhen, but they're the
00:56ones really responsible for creating these horror building sets.
00:58There's several of them that you can find on Amazon.
01:01This one specifically is marked down the lowest price in 30 days, $35.99.
01:05I think I probably paid a little bit more than $40 for the set.
01:08And because, again, it's not licensed characters, they can't clearly tell you that this is Michael
01:11Myers, nor can they really tell you that this is the Master of Dreams, Freddy Krueger.
01:15What it does, though, tell you is it's 625 pieces, and it's recommended for ages 12 and
01:19up.
01:20Lighting has also included this as well.
01:22It's weird, though, that they added additional lighting because I don't feel like it's necessarily
01:27needed.
01:27Why do we have to have spotlights on the shape?
01:29Why do we have to have spotlights on Freddy Krueger?
01:31Yet, though, they're listed with both.
01:33The package, again, there's several of these available on their site.
01:36I'm not, again, really sure the name of the company that's actually produced this.
01:40There's the place of origin, Shenzhen Manufacturer.
01:44I mean, again, you could guess for yourself.
01:45Shenzhen, Sheng Ho Hang.
01:48I'm so sorry.
01:49Network Technology.
01:50However, though, the European Party B says E cross Stu.
01:55Stu is maybe really responsible.
01:56I guess Stu, once he had a TV dropped on his head, decided to start building and branching
02:00off the building sets.
02:01But it does say horror figure building set made in China.
02:06We're going to be, I'm going to take a break.
02:08I'm going to get this all built up.
02:09And when we come back, we're going to get a closer look at the Shenzhen or guy Stu.
02:14Stu's been responsible for making these.
02:15We're going to be looking at the horror characters of Michael Myers.
02:17Not really Michael Myers and not really Freddy Krueger.
02:20Let's see how long this takes me.
02:21Clocking in a little over two and a half hours.
02:23We finally finished building the set.
02:25To be fair, again, like usually when I'm building anything Lego related or otherwise, I'm usually
02:28watching TV at the time.
02:30If I had been more focused, more focused, I probably could have built this a little bit
02:34faster.
02:34I will say, though, the instruction manual that comes included with the horror characters
02:38is a little on the more vague side.
02:39It does, again, have the same image, though, of the shape.
02:41And, of course, Freddy Krueger there featured on the front.
02:44But it does also tell you, though, it does tell you the pieces.
02:47I did notice, though, I was missing one piece.
02:49So there may be some inaccuracies when it comes to Michael Myers.
02:54But it does break you down at least all the pieces that are included in the set.
02:57And then it starts to build the set.
02:59The one thing I don't like right away is that you'll see that it's bag one, bag two, bag
03:04three.
03:04Now, bag three really is then finishing pieces, more so specifically like the display base.
03:09But then just a few other things also as well.
03:12Even then, when you're looking at bag one, bag two, you sort of think to yourself, okay,
03:15well, there's going to be probably like one bag listed as one.
03:18There's going to be another bag listed then as two.
03:20But there's several bags.
03:21There's like three or four bags of bag one.
03:23Three or four bags, which I guess makes some sense.
03:26But it does seem like you're like overlapping a lot of the times.
03:30Like it doesn't tell you specifically which bag this is.
03:33Which bag one is this?
03:34Could they have maybe put bag one A, bag one B, bag one C?
03:38But no, I end up having to dump all the entire contents of all the bags just so I had
03:42everything available in front of me.
03:44Okay, the instructions are somewhat self-explanatory, though there are a few little areas where you
03:49start to like look at things and you think to yourself, why is things happening the way
03:53that they are and I don't seem to be following along with them?
03:56Good examples of that are, let's see if I can actually find a good page of that.
04:00They show you like, for example, how individual pieces come together, like say to build Michael
04:03Meyer's arm.
04:05Yet though, when it gets to other areas though, it gets to a point like right here where it
04:10tells you what the thing you're going to be building, which eventually is really the side
04:13of Michael Meyer's hair, but then they outline this in red.
04:17Can you make that even out?
04:19Why would they have chosen to have that red when the coloring of his hair is brown?
04:23There's a few things too that when you're looking at them, they don't actually really
04:27tell you what things are supposed to be.
04:29So like they tell you that this part is supposed to go down here, indicated by of course the
04:32red arrows.
04:33But then here you have to kind of just figure yourself out, okay, this goes here by only just
04:38a faint outline of red that goes around it.
04:40There's other times though, with like, let's find a page that has more to do with Freddy
04:45Krueger.
04:45Like Freddy Krueger I found was probably more the harder one to get through because again,
04:50it gets to stages where you don't quite know where you are and you have to go backtracking
04:55a bit to figure out what the last step was.
04:58Another one's like right here, for example, where they show you the pieces of where they
05:01go, but then they don't tell you that there were other pieces that they have already
05:05added to those steps that aren't part of the individual builds that you're doing on the
05:09top.
05:10Again, it would be really hard to kind of pinpoint exactly whereabouts I'm having my
05:13most frustrations, but they aren't the most streamlined, easy to follow instructions.
05:18Needless to say though, everything was finished a little over two and a half hours.
05:22I'm exhausted even just by the idea that I had to sit down and do this.
05:25Each of them do come also and come include with display stands.
05:28It almost really does seem like when you're building a Michael Myers and then you go to
05:31Freddy Krueger that they almost feel as if they're coming from completely different sets.
05:35The build is different, the posability.
05:37Yes, there is posability actually on these.
05:39There seems different posability depending on which figure that you're looking at.
05:43Both of them come include with display stands, but even then the display stands aren't the
05:46exact same to one another.
05:47There's different placement for feet pegs, specifically for Freddy Krueger.
05:52And then there's different ones here for Michael Myers.
05:54They do have rotating turntables, so that's at least fun.
05:57And they also do have light up spotlights.
05:59The spotlights act by just only switching this on.
06:02And again, you got like some illumination of white.
06:04It's very bright.
06:05That's one thing at least they did do well is the illumination of the lights.
06:10Freddy Krueger, again, you just twist that on.
06:12There we go.
06:13And you have a red spotlight.
06:14So again, you can have these shung on the characters when they're having them on display.
06:18It's weird, again, like the way they've designed these.
06:21You would think though, like the same design for Freddy Krueger, for example, would be then
06:25the exact same build for Michael Myers.
06:26And they're just completely different.
06:29They're completely different.
06:31Let's just switch these off, or at least right now.
06:33We're going to come back to those display stands in a second.
06:36Some of these pieces, again, may fall off as you're...
06:38There we go.
06:38Switch this off.
06:39Switch this off.
06:40Let's look, though, at Michael Myers first.
06:43Apparently, this was the night he came home.
06:44And when he got home, he had all these faux knockoff Lego pieces that he had to contend with.
06:49Not a wonder he was spending so much time looking out the window.
06:52So one thing I will say about Michael Myers, we'll have to go back and reference the guide
06:56again.
06:57There is a one piece that I couldn't find actually on Michael.
07:01And let's get to the part that gets to that.
07:04And I checked around.
07:05I thought, okay, maybe I dropped the piece on the floor.
07:07Maybe my cat had acquired it.
07:09But not at all.
07:10No.
07:11This piece right here, this flat forehead piece, couldn't find it.
07:14It wasn't actually part of the bags.
07:15All, what, four bags of bag number one.
07:18Couldn't find that at all.
07:19So I had to sort of makeshift, I had to MacGyver this.
07:22What I did certainly instead was, he has the nose piece.
07:25That's still there.
07:26But instead of actually having this whole forehead piece, I found an extra piece of,
07:31like, basically, like a one by two.
07:34Like one of these, I put right here in the middle.
07:36And I found another square piece.
07:37Because they do actually throw in extra pieces.
07:39I just took a square piece on top of a two by four.
07:42Two by four.
07:43A one by two.
07:44And then I just basically put that there.
07:46The only thing that now is visible is he's got the extra pegs there on the top.
07:49There's, I couldn't even find the extra head piece.
07:51But what's weird, though, again, like the way they built these, I guess they're okay.
07:55There are some, again, some stability issues.
07:58They do have actually posability.
07:59But as you are, though, moving his arms, for example, shoulder pieces will, like, pop off,
08:03for example.
08:04You're just going to have to pop that back in place.
08:06Strangely, though, Michael Myers' coveralls have, I guess those are buttons on the front.
08:10Why are we putting buttons on the front of the shape's coveralls?
08:13Yet he has those there.
08:14I mean, you could leave them really off, but what would really only be behind is a peg.
08:19And I think we can all agree, having it flat rather than having a big, bulbous peg makes
08:24a little bit more sense for the sake of sanity.
08:28Michael Myers also doesn't have any posability in his legs.
08:31So again, like when you're looking at this figure and then you look at, you'll see what
08:34I mean.
08:34You'll see what I mean.
08:35So he doesn't have anything posable here from the legs down.
08:38Michael Myers, though, at least does have posability in the head.
08:40It's actually on a ball joint.
08:41So you can move the head up and down, you can, you know, again, you can rotate it all
08:44the way around.
08:45I spent some considerable time building Michael Myers' hair.
08:49All of these were individual curved pieces.
08:52You have to do it from the sides, you have to do it this side, and then, of course, you
08:55have to make this elaborate hair piece on the back of his body as well.
08:58Spending so much time, I was just so exhausted by just having to build Michael Myers' hair,
09:03and I thought that would be the end of it.
09:04And then I had to do it somewhat similar again when I built Freddy Krueger's hat.
09:08But the face, I guess, is what, it's okay for what it is.
09:11He has actually ears on the side, so he actually can hear what's going on.
09:14The shape does have the darkest eyes, the Lego's eyes.
09:18But again, it's fun.
09:19At least they do have some posability.
09:21They can move up and down.
09:22Again, it's a ball joint just working behind the scenes.
09:24And there's also a ball joint here for the shoulders.
09:26These shoulders, though, are really prone to falling off frequently.
09:29There is actually a hinge joint there, too, and you can actually rotate somewhat the
09:33hands.
09:34Not a lot, though.
09:35He does also come in clear with a knife.
09:36Let's take that back in place.
09:38Bear with me here.
09:39He does also come in clear with a knife, so at least that's something.
09:42But one thing that's weird, though, about Michael Myers is in order to get him onto his display
09:47stand, which, again, we've already sort of established that the display stands aren't,
09:51in fact, the same.
09:52The half pieces on the back, those are the same.
09:54But Michael Myers have to actually have rectangular pieces here where Freddy Krueger actually has
09:59to have pegs.
10:00And you'll think, okay, I'm just building this exact same stand a second time around.
10:05No, no, no.
10:05No, you stupid idiot.
10:06You've got to go back.
10:07You've got to look at the manual again.
10:08Again, it's not the exact same build.
10:10So when it comes to Michael Myers, it isn't just the case because he actually has flat
10:14bottoms on his boots.
10:15You can't just put him on the display stand.
10:17Of course you can't.
10:18What you have to do, though, is you have to swap out his boots, the bottoms of his boots
10:22like slippers.
10:23You take these pieces off.
10:25And again, just careful, careful.
10:27We'll just take the entire foot off instead.
10:30You have to take this piece off.
10:32Let's put the foot back in place here.
10:35Because again, he's going to have these pegs, right?
10:37So you have to take, instead of a one by three, you have to now replace it with a one by two.
10:42And that just goes on top.
10:43Why are we spending time like this to disassemble Michael Myers's boots?
10:47Could they not have just devised the exact same format as, oh, there goes, where did I put his
10:52pieces?
10:53Oh, I just dropped the pieces on the floor.
10:55Essentially what it is, though, is that these back pieces, the heel struts, the little pegs
10:59will plug onto the top of this.
11:01And then Michael Myers will have himself a display stand.
11:03And from there, from there, you can just switch on the spotlight.
11:07I mean, the plastic quality for these bricks aren't terrible, but I found like the instructions
11:12again were just terrible, terrible, terrible instructions.
11:15Now, they've also done a Nightmare on Elm Street home.
11:18So again, if you want to have Freddy's house, you can also build Freddy's house.
11:22Let's just get that on there.
11:24Did I miss a piece?
11:25I think I may have even missed a piece.
11:26This is why I don't do Lego pieces, all that, Lego builds all that much.
11:30Let's just get that in place.
11:31That's going to flicker a little bit.
11:32There we go.
11:33We'll get Michael Myers right there.
11:35I found actually between the two figures, actually, Freddy Krueger was a little bit better.
11:39I mean, he still is a much more elaborate of a build because you have to add all these
11:43face pieces, but it looks a little more, I think, like Freddy Krueger, unlike Michael
11:46Myers over here.
11:47Things I didn't necessarily like, similar to Michael's hair, was the top of his
11:51fedora.
11:52The top of the fedora does actually have hinges, so you can move these up and down.
11:55The face is pretty good.
11:57Weird thing, though, and I did say this earlier, that the builds aren't exactly the same.
12:00So you would think, okay, well, he's not going to have post-billy in his legs, right?
12:04He's going to have like a ball joint in the head, and he's going to have ball-joined
12:06shoulders.
12:07Not for Freddy.
12:08Oh, no, no, no, no.
12:10Freddy does have, get his shoulder all in place here.
12:13He has no ball joints.
12:14You can't move his head.
12:15His head, it actually is just pegged onto just a post.
12:18Sure, yeah, it does rotate, which still is good.
12:21But you can't move it in the same way that you can move with Michael Myers.
12:24He has posability still in the arms.
12:26Again, you can move these forward and back.
12:28And there's actually a ball joint in the shoulder, so you can move those out, too.
12:31I like the striping, though, of his sweater.
12:33That looks good.
12:34And he does actually even have posability in his hands, although they're just really
12:37fragile.
12:39So he's got the individual clawed hands.
12:40Those are kind of cool.
12:41Oh, there goes his head.
12:44Popping that back in place.
12:45Freddy, though, I don't feel is as stable.
12:48Picking up the rest of his head over here.
12:50He's not as certainly stable as Michael Myers.
12:53Michael Myers, I feel, at least a little more durable.
12:55It's almost like they have to trade places.
12:58Freddy has, I feel, like a better construction down below here for his waist.
13:03But I feel like Michael Myers doesn't have as good of a possibility in down below here.
13:07And let's just go and get the rest of his pieces all together.
13:09So, yes, Freddy Krueger does only have just a straight swivel in his head.
13:15Sure, yes, it does rotate all the way around, but it doesn't, again, move up and down the
13:18same way as the shape.
13:20It does have, again, ball joints in the shoulders.
13:22But, again, mileage may vary as to how much he can actually move with these.
13:25There's hinges here in the elbows.
13:27And then Freddy Krueger's, again, individual claws.
13:29You can bend those as well.
13:31What's, again, so weird, though, is that he does also have ball joints in the legs.
13:35Now, again, why would you do that for this guy?
13:37And you wouldn't then do it with Michael Myers.
13:40Just very, again, very bizarre.
13:42And also weird that they paired these two together when I feel like they probably could
13:45have just individually sold them separately.
13:47To get Freddy Krueger on the display stand, let's hope we fare better.
13:51He does have the pegs on the bottom of his feet.
13:52That then plugs onto the peg holes.
13:56And again, just attach them on like this.
14:01This is so, so monotonous, so monotonous.
14:03There's plugs in place, and then you can illuminate the display stand.
14:08Does that?
14:09Let's hope.
14:09Let's hope.
14:11These lights, these blasted lights.
14:14These lights, by the way, you have to switch them on like this.
14:19I could only just think to myself, what would be the definition of hell?
14:21I think it would just be having to build these things around the clock.
14:25As soon as I finish the first set, some ghoul or demon comes in and says,
14:28okay, you finished the first set.
14:30Now you're going to have to move on to the second.
14:32I mean, all in all, they look okay.
14:35The thing that I really did not like, though, was the instructions.
14:37The instructions were vague at best.
14:40And again, like with so many pieces like this falling frequently off,
14:44you'll find yourself often picking up things that you thought were in place,
14:47and then they're not so much in place, you're going to have to fix them again.
14:51Let's bring that up.
14:52There we go.
14:53I think the design of these are still pretty good.
14:56And I think Freddy Krueger, admittingly, though, is the better really of the two.
15:00The shape does suffer quite a bit.
15:02Not only the way that he attaches onto the display stand,
15:04that you actually literally have to take off the bombs of his boots.
15:06Why are we even having to take off anything on a figure that we've already built
15:10just to get him onto display stand?
15:11When I do, again, feel like they probably could have just duplicated the exact same lower half.
15:16If you're going to get ball joints to Freddy,
15:18why wouldn't you have given then ball joints to Michael Myers?
15:21Again, the instructions may work better, I think,
15:23for those that are, I guess, more experts when it comes to building anything.
15:27I generally, though, tend not to build as many Lego building sets,
15:31or for that matter, just brick building sets is really what I used to.
15:34For this very same reason, I spent so much time having to look at these instructions.
15:39Again, I probably might get a little more distracted,
15:41because, again, I'm watching TV at the time that I'm actually building these.
15:44But I feel like, if anything, the instructions aren't the clearest.
15:47There are still areas where, again,
15:49it shows you one thing that has to go on something else,
15:51and then you stop for a second,
15:53and you're like, well, where is this piece?
15:55I really wish I had an example of this.
15:58Let's see, let's see, let's see.
16:00There are, again, some sections where you're looking at something,
16:04like right here.
16:06Is this a good example?
16:06Maybe this is a good example.
16:08Some additional pieces are added here.
16:09I know, again, they outline it here in red.
16:11But if you're only then looking at,
16:13this goes here,
16:14you then might flip completely to the next page without realizing,
16:17oh, no, no, you've got to stop for a second and add these.
16:20There were a few times that I actually had to go back,
16:23go back to the previous pages.
16:24Did I miss something?
16:25And sure enough, I did.
16:26Freddy Krueger, though, is the better of the two.
16:28I really don't think that they probably could have done better
16:30just to release these stand-alone, sold them separately.
16:34The Michael Myers, I think, is probably the weaker of the two.
16:37Not only just the weakest, by the way that he's actually articulated.
16:39I think Freddy Krueger just considerably looks better.
16:42These, again, are right now the lowest price ever.
16:45I mean, not that that's really the nudge that you need to go to Amazon right now
16:47and start picking these up.
16:49But the same company has done also,
16:51I think they also did an Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors.
16:55I think they've also done a Michael Myers home.
16:57And they've also done a Freddy home.
16:59Not really sure, based on what luck I've had actually building these,
17:02whether I really would consider to go and build more of these.
17:05Because, again, I spent a lot of time,
17:07unnecessary time building these.
17:09I think, in the end, they look okay for showpieces,
17:11but they don't have the most stable parts,
17:14especially Michael Myers.
17:14See, Michael Myers just seems to be falling apart on me.
17:17What do you guys think of these?
