00:00Apparently, there's a hippo that's hungry for a diamond scarab.
00:03Here's your spooky spot on the new Jada Toys, Scooby-Doo, Mummy of Anka.
00:30The terrifying Mummy of Anka emerges from the crypt with the Scooby-Doo Mummy of Anka 1-12 scale action figure by Jada Toys.
00:40This chilling figure brings one of Mystery Inc.'s most memorable villains to life.
00:44With its eerie presence and relentless pursuit of the gang, the Mummy of Anka is ready to haunt your collection.
00:50Unless, of course, you've got that missing coin.
00:52I guess at least Shaggy won't be missing his mummy.
00:54The mummy did appear in the episode Scooby-Doo and a Mummy 2 was in the first season, episode 12.
00:58So even though I really wish that the night could have taken the place for the mummy,
01:01the mummy technically still is a recognizable ghost in Scooby-Doo fandom, and he did appear in the first season of the show.
01:07We're going to as well take the tape measure, and then, of course, we'll bring in Shaggy and the Creeper that we've already had a look at.
01:11As for how tall the mummy's going to be standing, he's about 6 1⁄2 inches in height, working out to be a figure that's about 16 1⁄2 centimeters tall.
01:19Now, wrapping up, pun intended, the first wave of Scooby-Doo figures from Jada Toys, we first looked at Shaggy.
01:24We then moved our focus over to the Creeper.
01:26The Creeper, I've got him in the pose that he generally is in the show.
01:29Even if he was those standing straight, the mummy is the tallest of the three.
01:32Accessories for the mummy.
01:33The figure first includes a pair of swappable hands.
01:36I'm not really sure, though, if I would have spent the budget to produce hands that he doesn't really have the means to hold anyways,
01:41because, of course, the mummy does have bandage of hands.
01:43Whether you want to go with relaxed hands or you want to go with closed fists,
01:46the mummy really isn't going to be doing anything when it comes to holding any accessories.
01:49I feel, though, my personal opinion, I feel, though, that Jada Toys probably should have dedicated the plastic and the budget.
01:54Instead of producing hands like this, I think they should have sculpted and included the hippo instead.
01:59Now, in the episode, before, of course, we get to the reveal,
02:02the person that actually wants to get the treasure at the very end needs to get an Egyptian coin,
02:06and the coin goes into the back slot of a hippo statue that then opens up the front door.
02:11Why, I said, hungry, hungry hippo.
02:12Why opens it up at the front door and inside is a diamond scarab.
02:15I feel like in a case like this for the Scooby-Doo ghost,
02:19Jada Toys, as a fun little reveal, should have included the thing that the ghost was most interested in.
02:23Now, if it's land, land would be a hard thing to acquire.
02:25But if it's a small little accessory or jewel or treasure of some sort,
02:29I feel like those things should be the things that include these figures,
02:32not necessarily a pair of closed hands that can't really do anything anyways.
02:35If, for the off chance that you did want to swap out the hands,
02:38let's just say you don't like the look of these oven mitts,
02:40you just hold on to the forearm, wiggle off the hand until, of course, it frees itself,
02:44then take the hand, thumbs still go in whether you're an Egyptian mummy or not,
02:48and just pop the hand in place.
02:50Super easy to do.
02:51But again, like, does it really do anything more than what it was already doing anyways?
02:55I mean, again, if you look at the difference between the oven mitts and the closed fists,
02:58I think they're still accomplishing the exact same thing.
03:01These hands, I think the plastic should have been going to something else instead.
03:04Now, for the reveal of the mummy, it ends up basically being Dr. Najeeb.
03:09Dr. Najeeb, his whole plan is to acquire the coin that ends up actually,
03:13as a reference to Shaggy that we've already looked at, that also made up this first wave,
03:16Shaggy, by accident, accidentally pockets the Egyptian coin.
03:20And then when they go to the diner, Shaggy goes then to pay a buck fifty and he hands over the coin.
03:25So I guess he would have had a 50 cent coin and ends up being the Egyptian coin
03:28that the mummy's trying to get because it goes on to the back of the hippo statue.
03:31That's quickly summarizing through the episode.
03:33The episode is still worth the watch if you get the chance.
03:36So for the reveal, you actually get the head of Dr. Najeeb.
03:39The one thing I will say, though, about the Dr. Najeeb head as well as the body for the mummy,
03:44I think the colors are off.
03:46Generally, though, in the episode, if you've watched it,
03:48the mummy comes across more like a gray than it does the white here.
03:51So while I do think it's a great looking sculpt of the mummy overall,
03:55I think the coloring is just a little bit off.
03:57I would have gone more, again, like the darker gray, more of a medium or a darker gray,
04:01certainly not the white that we're getting here.
04:03The head sculpt looks still certainly good from what little we get of the eyes.
04:07It's basically the sound of the mummy through the entire episode.
04:10The mummy looks good.
04:11I really do like the sculpting of it overall.
04:13There are a few, though, things like bandage-wise that you can actually rotate.
04:16The one that's on the back of its head, for example, does have posability,
04:18so you can move it back and forth or up and down if you want.
04:21And then there's one also down below on its leg that also has similar posability.
04:24There's one long one that drapes from the forearm to the bicep.
04:28There's nothing at all you can do with that.
04:29If you're going to be bending anything, you're only going to be snapping the plastic.
04:32But overall, though, I think the mummy looks really good.
04:34I just think, though, that the color is the one thing that Jada Toys just didn't do right.
04:38They did such a great job, though, in the Creeper and Shaggy.
04:40I feel like they left a little bit on the table when it comes to the paint.
04:43This guy should have been definitely a darker color.
04:46So while maybe you necessarily will be displaying the mummy on the shelf
04:49with the wrapped up face, for example,
04:51if you want to, though, do the reveal of Dr. Najeeb,
04:54then he does also come in clue with the alternate portrait as well.
04:56I think, like, the coloring, though, of the face is too light
04:59based on the way it actually appears in the episode.
05:01I'm not really sure why they chose the color that they did,
05:03but it is, though, not quite the same color of Dr. Najeeb's head
05:06that we see in the episode.
05:07So one thing that actually kind of is cool about this,
05:09now when we again looked at Mr. Carlswell from the Creeper,
05:12with the head sculpt, it basically was just a full head.
05:14So let's just, first of all, let's pick up the mummy
05:16and just make sure he's standing straight.
05:18But let's reach to the side here and bring in Mr. Carlswell's head.
05:22Now, if you remember when we looked at the Creeper,
05:23the Creeper essentially was a pulled-off mask
05:25that you could kind of put on the top of the bank manager's head,
05:28almost as if they're pulling off the mask.
05:30The mummy is a little bit different, though, in the episode.
05:32What they actually end up doing is they sort of unravel,
05:35unravel, take off the bandages,
05:36till, of course, they get the reveal underneath.
05:38Now, what you can do, though,
05:39which is kind of interesting, though, with Dr. Najeeb,
05:41is that if you look at the bottom of his face,
05:44there's a loop right here for the bandage.
05:46So you basically put this around Dr. Najeeb's face like this,
05:50and then you would snap.
05:50I'm kind of doing this in advance.
05:51I'm kind of telling you guys what I'm about to do.
05:53That just wraps around his face,
05:55and then you just take the bandages
05:56and kind of just willy-nilly wrap them around his face like that.
06:00Does that make sense?
06:01I hope that makes sense.
06:02This will all be, again, more clarified
06:03when we eventually take that.
06:05Well, you know, we'll do it right now.
06:06To change the head out,
06:07it's just a case of holding onto the torso,
06:09just something that you can get a good grip for.
06:11And watch the bandages on the back of the head.
06:13You just want to make sure you clip that.
06:14So we'll just pop the head off the ball joint.
06:16And there's one thing that's a little bit different,
06:17unlike the Creeper.
06:18With the Creeper,
06:19both the heads actually had ball joints already in the sockets.
06:22With both the mummy and Dr. Najeeb,
06:24there is no ball joint here.
06:25So you want to make sure
06:26that the ball joint stays behind in the neck.
06:28Take Dr. Najeeb's head.
06:30And again, the bandage,
06:31so this section right here
06:32is looped around the bottom of his head.
06:33And then we'll just snap that back in place.
06:36Just a little bit of pressure.
06:38There we go.
06:39No, I just dropped the head.
06:41Let's pick up the head back,
06:43back head of Dr. Najeeb here.
06:45Yeah, you kind of want to get this first around the neck.
06:48I guess you could really also just,
06:49you know, we'll do it this way.
06:50We'll do it this way.
06:51We'll pop this just around.
06:52Then we'll put the dear doctor's head over top of that.
06:55I just want to kind of make sure
06:56that I've got this on the ball joint.
06:58There we go.
07:00And then once that's in place,
07:01you basically are just going to like wrap.
07:02Again, you don't have to,
07:04it's not really a rhyme or a reason
07:05that you just kind of wrap it around his face like that.
07:08So then if, for example,
07:09you had Mr. Incorporated kind of walking in,
07:10we'll have Shaggy here.
07:12Basically, we just unravel this.
07:14And it's Dr. Najeeb.
07:16So that's kind of cool.
07:17I think that's neat.
07:17The fact that they actually found
07:18similar to the episode,
07:19a way to give us the reveal.
07:21It's not necessarily a case
07:22where you're like pulling off a mask.
07:24You're more or less kind of unraveling it
07:26to show the dear doctor underneath.
07:28Likely though, like the creeper,
07:30I'm not likely going to be displaying the figure
07:31with the Najeeb head.
07:32I'm probably still going to be
07:33being beelining it back to the monster.
07:35I just think it's a much cooler way
07:36of displaying the figure on the shelf,
07:37but you can do whatever you want.
07:39Or hey, why not?
07:40Pick up a second one of these figures
07:41and display one as Dr. Najeeb
07:43and then one as the mummy.
07:45But the figure's posability.
07:47Now, I guess we'll stick with
07:48really the doctor for right now.
07:49Whether you want to go with this
07:50or you want to go back to the mummy,
07:52the head is still going to work the same.
07:53This has a little more of a harder time
07:55to kind of get things going
07:56because again, you got the ball joint for the head.
07:58So it can move up and down
07:59and you can rotate it all the way around.
08:00And you're just going to have to contend
08:02with the fact that there's all these bandages
08:03in the way, get out of the way.
08:05There's also though,
08:06if you look further down on the neck,
08:08there's a secondary ball joint there too.
08:09So you can also move that all the way around.
08:11So there's a ball joint here
08:12and there's a further ball joint
08:13down below in the ball,
08:14at the base of the neck.
08:16As for his arms,
08:17they rotate all the way around.
08:19There's also an interesting thing too,
08:20and we didn't get the chance
08:21to kind of see it with the creeper
08:22because the creeper was really
08:23wearing the jacket over top.
08:24There's actually a crunch
08:25where you can move the shoulders
08:26further and forward and back.
08:28But yeah, the shoulders do rotate
08:29all the way around.
08:30And there's a swivel there at the bicep.
08:31There is also a double hinge
08:33possessed in the mummy's elbow there as well.
08:35And you can rotate these all the way around,
08:36hinge them back and forth.
08:37Upper torso is going to be on a ball joint.
08:39It was kind of more concealed
08:40with the creeper,
08:41just because again,
08:42like, you know,
08:42again, the jacket was covering
08:43so much over it.
08:44It's a lot easier though
08:45to make it out though on the mummy.
08:46There's also further down,
08:47there's a ball joint
08:48at the base of the abdomen.
08:49So you can also rotate it there as well.
08:51Legs do split out.
08:52They do kind of come across though,
08:54like the legs are a little
08:54on the off proportion side,
08:56a little shorter and stumpier.
08:57But again, they do split out.
08:58There's ball joints there.
09:00Legs go forward.
09:01They go also back.
09:02Three quarters of the way up the thigh.
09:04There's actually a swivel cut.
09:05So you can rotate that all the way around.
09:06There is also a knee bend,
09:08but I did notice it was really tight
09:09on my mummy,
09:10not my mummy,
09:11you know, the mummy figure.
09:12But again,
09:12there's also a swivel down below here
09:14in a place that it really didn't need to be.
09:16I mean, it doesn't really do,
09:17I guess if you really want to have
09:18a side more step,
09:20you can kind of turn
09:21the lower leg further out.
09:22But again,
09:22like there's a swivel right here as well.
09:24Feet move up and down.
09:25There's an ankle rocker there as well.
09:27And none of these figures really have up to this point
09:29come include with ball joints
09:30or peg joints on the bums of the feet.
09:32I kind of really feel like the figures
09:33need to have those
09:34just so that if you did want to make use
09:35of a display stand,
09:36even if one isn't included,
09:38you can do that.
09:39Dr. Najeeb,
09:39I don't think he's able to see
09:40really what's going on.
09:41Let's just move the bandage
09:42just up past his head.
09:43Okay,
09:44now he can see what's going on.
09:45And let's also bring in
09:46where we've come from,
09:48the other two figures.
09:49There's the creeper
09:50and obviously they're shaggy.
09:52Still,
09:52I don't know.
09:53You know,
09:54the mummy does technically appear
09:55in the first season of Scooby-Doo.
09:57It's not really a ghost
09:58that appears later on.
09:59So I,
09:59you know,
09:59I could still say that
10:00Jada Toys didn't pick necessarily wrong,
10:02but just the fact that the knight
10:04would have appeared
10:04in the first episode,
10:05I feel like that would have made
10:06more of a reason,
10:07more of a justified argument
10:08as to why the knight
10:10should have taken the place
10:11of Dr. Najeeb.
10:12The mummy's still
10:13a recognizable character.
10:14I don't know,
10:15I don't think I would say though
10:16that the pain's 100% right.
10:18The colors really should have been
10:19more of a darker gray
10:20or more of a medium gray
10:21than the bright white
10:22that we get here.
10:23They do a good enough job though
10:24of adding some like wear and tear
10:25and aging to the bandages,
10:27adding a little bit of a dirty wash
10:29in something like the arms,
10:30like the waist and lower legs,
10:31for example.
10:32But again,
10:32like I think the colors
10:33are really a little off on this.
10:35And it certainly comes
10:36when it comes to the accessories as well.
10:38I don't,
10:38I don't fault the fact
10:39that they include Dr. Najeeb's head.
10:41Obviously,
10:41I still will be likely
10:42displaying the mummy though
10:43with the regular head portrait.
10:45I just don't know.
10:46Again,
10:46I feel like the hands
10:47are so unnecessary.
10:48The hands aren't really
10:49doing anything more
10:50by swapping one out
10:51and replacing it with the other.
10:52I feel again,
10:53like I myself,
10:54like says the guy
10:55that's working behind the camera,
10:56I have no at all involvement
10:58when it comes to producing
10:59of toys,
11:00manufacturing toys,
11:01marketing.
11:01I guess we market toys
11:02somewhat here on this channel.
11:04But from a guy
11:04that can only say
11:05I love Scooby-Doo,
11:06I would have rather though
11:08that they had used the budget
11:09instead of producing
11:10swappable hands
11:11that don't again
11:11accomplish anything.
11:13I would have rather myself
11:14used the plastic
11:15and made the hippo statue.
11:16not necessarily
11:17that it needed to open up
11:19nor conceal the diamond
11:20scarab inside the mouth.
11:21But at the very least,
11:22I think what they could have done
11:23moving forward with future,
11:25maybe they could do this
11:26with future waves,
11:27include the thing
11:28that the ghost
11:28is the most interested in.
11:30It's an easier thing
11:31to say obviously
11:32because the creeper
11:32would have just had
11:33the briefcase
11:33with the money
11:34it didn't even need
11:34to necessarily open up.
11:36The mummy would have
11:36then had the hippo
11:37that had the scarab
11:38inside the mouth.
11:39Something like that.
11:39I think that would be
11:40nice Easter eggs
11:41as they appear in the episode.
11:42It would be nice
11:43that they also appeared
11:44with the figures
11:44that they released as well.
11:45Three liverwurst sandwiches,
11:47a la mode,
11:47and for a buck fifty,
11:48what a steal.
11:49Speaking of stealing,
11:50Dr. Najib would have loved
11:51to steal the scarab
11:52inside the hippo's mouth
11:53if it wasn't for the fact
11:54that poor Shaggy
11:55pocketed the Egyptian coin.
11:57Technically though,
11:58if we want to think
11:59about thievery,
12:00Shaggy stole the Egyptian coin
12:01long before Dr. Najib
12:02even got his hands on it.
12:04Speaking of getting
12:05his hands on it,
12:05what little chance
12:06he's going to have
12:06to hold anything.
12:07The hands that they included
12:08unfortunately though
12:09with the mummy
12:10you can't do really anything with.
12:11So again,
12:12I think having swappable hands
12:13just don't make any sense.
12:15Swappable hands
12:15usually are fine
12:16if you want to have
12:17like a gripping hand
12:17or a relaxed hand,
12:19but with the mummy
12:19either having the options
12:20of a closed fist
12:21or oven mitts,
12:22I think I'd rather
12:23just have the figure display
12:23with oven mitts
12:24and use the plastic
12:25for something else instead.
12:26Still,
12:27I do appreciate the fact
12:28that they include
12:28the reveal head sculpt,
12:29so again,
12:30if you want to go
12:30with this look,
12:31it's easily something
12:32that can be swapped out
12:33with the plastic
12:33that they're using
12:34for these figures.
12:35Could maybe though
12:36the mummy have been replaced
12:37with a better contender
12:38for Ghost?
12:39I still think yes.
12:40The Ghost is a recognizable character,
12:42but maybe not on the levels
12:43of the Creeper.
12:44I think again,
12:44the knight,
12:45and I hate to be again
12:46beating a dead horse,
12:47I think the knight
12:47would have been a better fit.
12:49Certainly though,
12:49for fans of Scooby-Doo,
12:50I think they would have
12:51recognized the knight
12:52right away
12:52and they probably had
12:53stopped for a second
12:54and said,
12:54well,
12:54I do remember the mummy.
12:56I just don't remember
12:56what episode he was from.
12:58What do you guys think
12:59of the mummy?
12:59Let me know down below
13:00in the comments section.
13:01Let's just say,
13:02I'm asking you,
13:03if you had to replace
13:04the mummy
13:05with a different ghost,
13:06let's just say,
13:07what one would you have
13:08chosen instead
13:09of the mummy?
13:10Let me know what your ideas
