00:00...of a lifetime.
00:12I won for the second time.
00:15I am confident that I do have something that sets me apart from the rest.
00:24Crazily enough, I miss Alisa.
00:27I felt very connected to her.
00:28But since Alisa has been eliminated, I will be in 33H with Kit, Jillian, and Sweet Pea.
00:35Hello, new roommate. Are you ready?
00:37We're leaving.
00:38Let's go to Parsons.
00:50Hello.
00:51Hi.
00:52Are you ready for your next challenge?
00:54Sure.
00:55Sure.
00:55Your next challenge is all about creating memories.
00:59You will be making an outfit for one of the most important days of a woman's life.
01:05I'm just hoping that it's not a wedding dress.
01:10Okay, let's bring out your models.
01:11I look over at the scrim, and I thought they were, like, midgets or obelos.
01:27All these little kids come out.
01:31I'm like, hey, what are we making now?
01:33Oh, my God, they're school kids, and they're all pretty short.
01:41Designers, as you can see, you have new models for this challenge.
01:45These young ladies are from St. John Vianney High School in New Jersey.
01:50And you will be making a prom dress for them.
01:57Whoa.
02:00The other designers actually seem to be kind of excited, but I think prom's horrible and tacky and gross.
02:07Because these ladies had a chance to have a little look at your portfolios.
02:14And they have made some decisions on who they would like to work with.
02:18Okay.
02:19That's awesome.
02:20That's a dream country.
02:25Oh, God.
02:26I don't know what the poor girl who chose me must have been thinking, because my portfolio is full of crazy stuff.
02:36Katie, who do you want to work with?
02:38Jillian.
02:40Brianne.
02:40Kit.
02:41Cool.
02:42Tiziana.
02:43Kevin.
02:45Maddie, how about you?
02:46Christian.
02:48Katie.
02:49I choose Ricky.
02:51Nicole, how about you?
02:53Hey, Katie.
02:53Hey.
02:54Jessica.
02:56I choose Victoria.
02:58Krista.
02:58Chris.
02:59Don't be too scared.
03:03And finally, Bianca.
03:04I choose Rami.
03:06Okay, you have your new clients.
03:08Tim will meet you in the workroom to fill you in on some of the details.
03:12Have fun, and I'll see you on the runway.
03:16Let's go, ladies.
03:16Hi, everybody.
03:30Hi.
03:31Hello.
03:32Designers, I am about to send in your new clients.
03:35I just want to say that it is inevitable that many will have strong ideas about the design
03:40of this dress.
03:41You need to keep that in mind, but you also need to assert who you are and your point of
03:46view as a designer.
03:46You will have 30 minutes to meet with them.
03:49Then we're going to Mood, where you will have a budget of $250.
03:53You have until midnight tonight, and you have all day tomorrow.
03:58Okay?
03:59All right, I'm going to send in your clients.
04:04I'm Nicole.
04:05Hi, Nicole.
04:06I'm Stephanie.
04:06I'm Jess.
04:06Hi.
04:07Hi, Jess.
04:08How are you?
04:08I'm good.
04:09Have you ever had something specially made for you before?
04:12No.
04:12It's my first time, and I'm so excited.
04:14What do you want to feel like?
04:16Oh, it's not like elegant, but it's not like flesh, like I can pop.
04:19We all knew that eventually there would be an evening wear challenge.
04:23I don't think we thought it would be on 16 and 17-year-old girls.
04:29You have to re-gear your thinking.
04:31Low cut in front or low in back?
04:33Both.
04:34Okay.
04:36So why'd you pick me?
04:38You were very edgy.
04:39We got a chance looking at your portfolio, and you were very my style.
04:43You have to consider that they are younger, and I definitely think the dresses should
04:48be more modest.
04:49I like this whole thing right there.
04:51You know, it's tight right there.
04:52That'll make your figure look really good.
04:54I come from New Jersey, so I know that old Jersey high school thing.
04:58And the problem in New Jersey is basically everyone goes tanning.
05:02Everyone basically steals booze from their parents.
05:05So it just freaks me out to see these kids are so young, and they're about to engage in
05:09the prom and hope that the parents are watching this, but I'm sorry.
05:12I will put a chastity belt inside of my garment.
05:15We have a good start here.
05:16I just want to get your body type down.
05:17Would you prefer something that is more fitted or drapey?
05:20I could go either.
05:21Most times something fitted.
05:23Bianca does not like things that are too traditional, which is perfect.
05:26A fun color, I think, is very important.
05:29Yeah, definitely.
05:30Okay.
05:30Sounds awesome.
05:31Good.
05:32So I want to kind of get an understanding of, like, why you thought we could work together.
05:36Um, well, actually, I've got the last choice.
05:40Okay.
05:41But that's fine because I really like to perfectly out until it's fine.
05:44Okay.
05:44Because my butt kind of, like, sticks out really far.
05:47But it does, so, like, the low back kind of, like, makes it look nice.
05:49Like, kind of.
05:50Yeah.
05:50Nicole wants a very plunging neckline and she wants a very low back, like, below the waist.
05:58Because I'm thinking, like, off-white maybe.
06:00So really super glamorous.
06:01Yeah.
06:02Like, walking the red carpet.
06:03I'm so into that.
06:04She also wants ivory and I'm kind of scared of that because this is not her wedding day.
06:11Hopefully she's not even going to lose her virginity.
06:13Um, I've been doing this.
06:14Oh my God, you're so excited.
06:15I've been doing this for two years.
06:16Oh, really?
06:17Awesome.
06:17I met my fabulous client, Maddie.
06:20First thing she told me was that she's a designer.
06:23What if we did this would all be lace?
06:27Hmm.
06:27I know this is going to sound difficult, but, like, a little train coming out here.
06:32These are good pleats.
06:33You know, she's so cute, but she has some strong opinions.
06:36She got that pencil right out and started sketching on my paper and I was like, oh, okay.
06:41Okay, so what colors do you like?
06:43So light brown and maybe gold.
06:46For some reason, I want to lace in the back.
06:49Okay.
06:49You don't want to put too much stuff.
06:51I know you do.
06:53You're killing me.
06:54She wanted so much tacky stuff.
06:56She wanted gold and black and white and lace and, ugh.
07:00Now once I start, no more changing.
07:01You think I'm going to change that?
07:05I was very scared.
07:09Designers, we need to say goodbye to our clients.
07:14Thank you, guys.
07:15I'll see you.
07:15She's coming.
07:17Bye, Kate.
07:17Bye.
07:18Thank you, ladies.
07:19I want to cry.
07:21Bitter.
07:23Bitter.
07:23All right, designers.
07:26Let's head off to Mood.
07:31Go get it.
07:35We have $250 to shop.
07:38I find this really amazing red silk, and that's my base fabric.
07:42Put this aside as well.
07:43The red is so gorgeous that it's going to glow on the runways.
07:46You know, she wanted, like, ivory or bone, but I think that's too wedding-ish.
07:53She only mentioned black and white.
07:54I'm not doing black, white, or ivory.
07:56And I find this beautiful champagne-y charmeuse and...
08:02Sorry, Nicole.
08:03Look, I'm making a Christmas dress for her.
08:06Don't you think?
08:07I'm going to make a poinsettia.
08:10Thank you, Lulu.
08:11Bye, Sarah.
08:11Bye, girl.
08:12Rita.
08:13Bye.
08:13Bye.
08:16I was best dressed at the prom.
08:25Is that your opinion, or did they take a vote?
08:28No, we took a vote.
08:30This is the most important day of my life.
08:36I just think that there's so many things in this challenge that are important.
08:40You have to make it fit.
08:42Pick fabric that'll go for a prom.
08:44We have to satisfy the customer.
08:46I've never worked with somebody that had that many specific requests.
08:51I'm not feeling fierce right now.
08:57We're making pretty dresses.
09:00Is it just me?
09:01Is my hair bigger than usual?
09:03Pretty Tina Turner today.
09:05It's a little bigger than usual.
09:06Pretty Tina.
09:07I never made a prom dress before, but I make a lot of dresses, and I want to make something
09:12that's kind of like a mosaic.
09:14The silks that I chose will look like the inside of a jewelry box.
09:18I just want her to look really pretty.
09:20Was anyone the prom queen?
09:24You can be the queen, and I'll be the king.
09:27I'm the king, and Christian's the queen.
09:29My senior prom was fun.
09:32I was a prom princess, and funnily enough, my date was a prom prince.
09:38It was very Orange County.
09:39The dress I want to make for Brie is definitely unconventional, but I still want it to be pretty.
09:48Anybody got any good jokes?
09:50What would you call the Flintstones if they were gay?
09:52What?
09:52What?
09:53Facts.
09:56I get it.
10:00The night that I'm making this dress, most of my thoughts are in the dress, but I'm also
10:05thinking about my mom.
10:06She was a seamstress when we were kids.
10:08She made all my sister's prom dresses, and she was self-taught.
10:12By watching her, I learned about the technique of it.
10:17Mama, how are you?
10:18Good, good.
10:19Very good, thank you.
10:20Because as a kid, you were poor.
10:22You weren't allowed to be creative because it wasn't gainful employment.
10:27You couldn't pay the rent.
10:28If you win something like Project Runway, every door opens up, and it would be the best
10:43thing that could happen.
10:47Okay, bye-bye, mama.
10:50How did it become 8.30?
10:54Holy s***.
10:56She said she likes her butt sticking out.
10:58There you go.
10:59Nicole wanted lunging, neck lying, and lunging in the back, and I tried draping that, and
11:06it just was not working.
11:08So I changed gears.
11:09I did my interpretation of what she wanted.
11:12I hope she likes it, but I'm not going home because I'm listening to a teenager.
11:17No, no way.
11:19I don't know if I can work anymore.
11:36I don't know why I'm too tired.
11:37I don't know if I can work anymore.
11:38I have to be in the back of my head.
11:39I have to be in the back.
11:40I have to be in the back of my head.
11:41I have to be in the back of my head.
11:42I have to be in the back of my head.
11:43Okay, I'm stopping for today.
11:44I'm at a stopping point.
11:45I want to stop looking at it for today.
11:49pretty much all together.
11:50And I made the tackiness that she wanted,
11:52and I just hate it.
11:53It's so tacky.
11:54No, because it just doesn't look like you.
11:56But I think if you add those details,
11:58it'll look more like you.
11:59Yeah, because it's so tickety-tack right now.
12:02God.
12:03I need to make this dress my point of view.
12:06And I cannot let a 17-year-old girl overpower me.
12:11I just can't let this happen.
12:12Coming up on Project Runway.
12:19I'm looking at it.
12:20It's just...
12:21Hmm.
12:22I have no idea how to fix this dress.
12:24That's not the right attitude to have.
12:26Rally.
12:33Good morning. Good morning.
12:35Today, we have till midnight to finish this challenge.
12:38And I definitely need to kick ass.
12:41Good morning, Dress.
12:42How are you today?
12:43I did change things from the original design.
12:46I hope you're doing well, because I'm Randy.
12:51I'm doing this extensive beadwork and lace,
12:53and it's very intricate and very detailed,
12:55which is very neat.
12:56I'm going to try my best to make something that I love,
12:59and hopefully she'll love it,
13:01even if it's not exactly what she wanted.
13:03I hope she likes it.
13:04My biggest fear is that she walked in and was like,
13:06BLUE!
13:07I never asked for BLUE!
13:09I thought I would like this, but it just doesn't look like me.
13:13It really looked like something an Italian,
13:18older, divorcee would wear.
13:20Do you want to, like, break it more?
13:23Yeah.
13:24I kind of made the executive decision to change the silhouette.
13:28I felt a bit nervous that she wouldn't like it.
13:31But at the end of the day, I decided to go with what I wanted.
13:35I trust you.
13:35I trust your judgment.
13:38Hi, everybody.
13:39I have a nice surprise.
13:42I'm sending in your clients for a fitting.
13:46You'll have 30 minutes with them.
13:47All right?
13:49Have fun.
13:50When the models come in, I see these older ladies.
13:52Nice to meet you.
13:54And I immediately think these are the mothers.
13:56So not only do I have to please Katie,
13:59I also have to please Katie's mother, Shirley.
14:01Wow, girl, you look hot.
14:03Hey, that's my daughter.
14:07I'm kind of, like, afraid on this part here to Kevin.
14:10It's kind of, like, bulging in this front here.
14:13It's kind of like that new baby doll style that just came out.
14:17Mom's a little skeptical about the halter dress.
14:20I just had to sell it to her.
14:21You don't look pregnant here?
14:23Stop.
14:24Mom's just a little crazy.
14:26It's all to you, Kevin.
14:29All you.
14:30Can you turn to me?
14:31I changed it up a little bit.
14:34And it's not finished.
14:35It's not finished.
14:36So it was so different from how we had discussed.
14:39So I was nervous because I didn't think
14:42that she would like the dress.
14:44I love this.
14:46I'm glad.
14:46I was glad that I didn't have to compromise any sort of principles
14:50that I had as a fashion designer.
14:52My legs look nice a bit.
14:55This is, like, a great color for her.
14:57It was so hard to find.
14:58Was it?
15:00Oh, my God.
15:01I'm so sad.
15:02I was talking to the mom, and I said,
15:03OK, I want to ask you a question.
15:07What did you think when you looked at my portfolio?
15:10Well, it's a pretty cool costume.
15:12Portfolio.
15:13Oh, thank you.
15:13My portfolio is full of pictures of me in drag,
15:17wearing, like, 10-foot hair and giant fake boobs.
15:21Those are all me, you know.
15:22No.
15:24Oh, you didn't know that?
15:26No, no, no, no.
15:27I thought you would for sure know it was me.
15:29No.
15:31This is the style of it.
15:32It's not as low on the back.
15:34We'll go in there and try it on,
15:35and we'll see about the fitting of it.
15:36I did not cut the gown as low as she wanted
15:38because I was sort of worried that her parents
15:41would have me arrested.
15:42It looks very nice.
15:44I like the color a lot.
15:45I love it.
15:46They both love it.
15:48Very good.
15:48Oh, my god.
15:49Let me pull this in where it goes.
15:51I was happy her mom was there because I
15:53wanted a little backup.
15:54You look like a movie star.
15:55Yeah, definitely.
15:57It looks like I have a little rabid booty going on over here.
16:01The back is annoying me.
16:02It's too short.
16:04I'm just looking at the back.
16:05Don't worry with the back.
16:06It'll be fine.
16:08So we put the dress on.
16:09She thinks it's awful.
16:11This thing in the sleeve here.
16:12You want another sleeve there?
16:13I'm not, like, bit all, like, this is so.
16:16I'm not a dressmaker.
16:17I'm a designer.
16:18That's very couture.
16:20He's the wonder kid around here, you guys.
16:22A little help from me.
16:23Mm-hmm.
16:24Lots of help from you.
16:25She was like, well, I designed this with him.
16:28It's just very annoying.
16:29I think that Christian should have steered the wheel maybe
16:33a little bit more with her because at the end of the day,
16:36it's his name that is on the dress.
16:38Very cute.
16:39I'm looking at it.
16:40This is so.
16:42I have no idea how to fix this dress.
16:45I literally wanted to rip the dress off and give up.
16:48All right.
16:48It's so bad, there's, like, so there's suffering.
16:50Yeah.
16:55I want to be in the top this time.
16:58I am the underdog right now, and I really want to win
17:01this challenge because I feel like it's my turn.
17:04I've been on the bottom, you know what I mean?
17:05Like, I've been twice, once with my group.
17:08I've been voted off.
17:10I understand.
17:13Sorry.
17:30Hi, everybody.
17:31Hi, Kevin.
17:32How are you?
17:34Hi, Kevin.
17:34Hi.
17:36So how did it go this afternoon?
17:37How did mom respond?
17:39Her mom was a little worrying about, about what?
17:42Just gathering.
17:43Really?
17:44I was a little concerned when I first met the mother,
17:46because she was like, I don't know about the halter.
17:48I don't know about that.
17:49All right.
17:50Just be really critically objective about everything.
17:53OK.
17:54Because you know how the judging has been going.
17:55Yeah.
17:56How are you finishing the hymn?
17:57I don't know.
17:58I might leave it.
17:59I might leave it wrong.
18:00It just has to be exquisite.
18:02If they even notice that, to be honest.
18:04Oh, they'll notice.
18:05Nina will notice.
18:06Don't worry.
18:07Right.
18:08OK.
18:09All right.
18:10OK.
18:11Thanks, Kevin.
18:12Hi.
18:13How are you?
18:14I'm good.
18:15The fitting went really well.
18:16She loved it.
18:17Can I just make one comment?
18:18Is she going to look like she's wearing her mother's dress?
18:21Do you know what I mean?
18:22There are a lot of, like, 17-year-olds these days
18:24that are really interested in, like, major fashions.
18:27They do tend to sort of grow up fast and look a little more,
18:30maybe a little older.
18:32But the fact that I'm happy with it and she's happy with it,
18:34I've already won.
18:35All right.
18:36Thanks, Mommy.
18:37I know that it's different.
18:38It's a risk.
18:39Having immunity can encourage me to take a risk.
18:42Hi, Victoria.
18:44How are you doing?
18:45I'm getting there.
18:46I got those crystal trim.
18:48I don't know if you recall.
18:49I do.
18:50They're going in this area?
18:51Yeah, exactly.
18:52So I think it'll make it look rich,
18:53because I do think it's going to make a difference on the runway.
18:56All right.
18:57You still have a lot of work to go.
18:58Yes, so I'm hoping.
18:59All right.
19:00I'm going to let you do it.
19:01Okay.
19:02All right, Victoria.
19:03Work, work, work, work.
19:04I'll leave you alone.
19:07Kristen.
19:08Hello.
19:09I have been concerned about you all afternoon and evening.
19:11Why are you so doom and gloom about this?
19:13Why?
19:14Once I put it on her, she kept nitpicking and I wanted to die.
19:18Well, I don't hate it.
19:20I see you in this.
19:21So how are you mitigating it?
19:23What are you doing?
19:24I'm just, I don't even know what I'm doing anymore.
19:27What's your fabric situation?
19:28I have none.
19:29None.
19:30Not one thing.
19:31What's this?
19:32This is a lot of fabric.
19:33This is your savior right here.
19:35And also, there's some flotsam and jetsam there on the floor.
19:39Trust me, I'm done.
19:41The matter of the fact is, somebody does have to go.
19:44So it probably won't be me.
19:46No, that's not the right attitude to have.
19:48Don't say that.
19:50Kristen, don't give up.
19:51You're too talented.
19:52You're too good.
19:53Don't give up.
19:54Rally.
19:55Okay.
19:56Thanks, Tim.
19:57All right, designers, you have a little less than two hours tonight.
20:02So make it work.
20:04I'll see you tomorrow.
20:05Thank you, Tim.
20:06Bye, Tim.
20:07Thank you, Tim.
20:08I don't want to hem this.
20:09What do you mean you don't want to hem it, darling?
20:11That would be unfinished.
20:12I'm not going to do it.
20:14That kid pistol.
20:15What the hell is with a pistol anyway?
20:17What's her mom's name?
20:18Machine gone.
20:19No, it's Uzi, asshole.
20:20Okay, I'm done.
20:21Come on, go.
20:22All right, all right.
20:23Come on, little Korean girl.
20:24Come on, little tiny.
20:25My roommates.
20:26Come on.
20:27Come on.
20:28I think Christian is just kind of looking at me.
20:29This is like you don't know me like this is bad.
20:30It's like you're in pain.
20:31I didn't know how to do it.
20:32Everyone's good at home, I got it.
20:33All right, I got it as it was.
20:34I got it as it was.
20:35I got it as a guy.
20:36I got it as a guy, I got it as a guy.
20:37I got it as a guy.
20:38And he got it.
20:39Look at that guy.
20:40I got it, too, and he got it as a guy.
20:41And he's got it.
20:42Oh, you'll die.
20:43Yeah, I'm done.
20:44Oh, yeah, okay.
20:45Come on, so you can do it.
20:47Come on, girl.
20:48Come on, little tiny.
20:49Come on.
20:50I think Christian's just kind of, like, loosened it.
21:02It's that Erika Bandone.
21:04I don't know what it is.
21:06It's the comedy.
21:07You guys are really going to miss me tomorrow when I'm eliminated.
21:10Shut up.
21:13Coming up on Project Runway.
21:16Almost finished.
21:16Almost finished.
21:17Oh, we're not done.
21:18Until it's done, then you can't walk away.
21:22Admit it.
21:23You love me.
21:30I think Heidi should have made a prom dress, too.
21:33See what she would have come up with.
21:34I was raised in Jerusalem, and there is no prom there.
21:39So I have not experienced prom.
21:42What would Heidi come up with?
21:43A very mini dress?
21:45A shirt.
21:46A later house in dress, I think, for Heidi.
21:48It's a new day, and I'm going to finish this dress.
22:00I'm going to make it work for her.
22:01It's going to be fabulous as much as it possibly can.
22:04I'm going to work it out.
22:05I need my model.
22:07How is everybody?
22:10Good morning.
22:11Good morning.
22:12Good morning.
22:13I'm about to send in your clients.
22:16You will have an hour with them before sending them to the Pressemme hair salon in the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
22:22Wow.
22:22All right.
22:23All right.
22:23Use your time well, okay?
22:26All right, guys.
22:27I'll see you later.
22:32There you are.
22:33I have so much work.
22:35You nervous?
22:37A little bit.
22:38Don't be nervous at all.
22:39When I had a girlfriend, I actually made her prom dress.
22:43There should have been a clue right there, right?
22:45Let's go in and put this on.
22:46It looks really cute with, like, these three buttons.
22:51I think we're going to be in the top today.
22:53Really?
22:54Go ahead.
22:56Go ahead.
22:57We should have been.
22:58You look like a doll.
23:00You look really good.
23:01Stop kidding.
23:01It came in, right?
23:02Yeah.
23:03Yeah.
23:03She looks really pretty.
23:05She looks happy in her dress.
23:06My only concern is everyone else's color is really pop.
23:10It's a really loud color.
23:11And I'm the only one that really played with subtlety.
23:14But for her, it was the right color.
23:16Show me how you're going to walk.
23:18I'm glad if you were like this.
23:20They were very giddy and loud and hyper and wild.
23:25That was a little bit different to kind of tune out all of that noise.
23:31Girls who go to Catholic schools, they're really wild.
23:33I know.
23:33Oh, yeah.
23:34You know that.
23:35Honey, I went to Catholic school.
23:37Take a look at all y'all and take a look at me.
23:39Hello.
23:40This is you in 30 years.
23:41I went to Catholic school and I was definitely one of those misbehaving types.
23:48I had a great time at my prom.
23:49That's all I'll say.
23:52So what do you guys want to do in life?
23:54Absolutely not.
23:55Well, that's good.
23:57I want to sit at home.
23:58I did not go to my prom, no.
24:01I stayed home and watched old movies and got drunk.
24:05That was my life in high school.
24:08A little Grecian mixed with Hollywood glamour.
24:11Probably for prom, we should have her hair up.
24:13Like, pow, when she walks out.
24:19Electric blue and it's a little edgy.
24:21Oh, we don't have to do much of anything.
24:32I fixed everything.
24:34Awesome.
24:35Did you hem it, Kevin?
24:36I just put a stitch on the bottom.
24:39No hem, just stitch.
24:41Why?
24:44Don't make me nervous.
24:45I told Kevin from the very beginning, I thought it was a bad idea not to hem the dress.
24:50You know, the thing of the stuff walking down the runway unfinished is just, you know, they kill you for it.
24:57No, not yet.
24:57We're not done.
24:58Can't get the shoes down.
25:00Well, when we're done.
25:01Just hold on.
25:03We're not done.
25:03Almost finished.
25:05Almost finished.
25:05Oh, we're not done.
25:06We're not done.
25:07Well, we're not done.
25:08And until it's done, then you can't walk away.
25:12Oh, poor Christian.
25:14Christian had a model who was, um, how shall we say, kind of outspoken.
25:21But the dress he made is really adorable.
25:25We're going to ask you how you feel in the dress, if you love it, what do you like.
25:32And, you know, I'm going to have to defend myself, so be prepared.
25:36Admit it.
25:37You love me.
25:41I feel like I want to give you a big hug side.
25:45Pin up, shoulders back, swing those arms.
25:50I thought the girls in the outfits looked stunning.
25:53I was giving you shoes.
25:55And I definitely really loved my dress.
25:57It looks fantastic.
25:58I'm super happy about it.
26:00Wow.
26:01All right.
26:03Designers, models.
26:04We're heading to the runway.
26:06All right.
26:09Out we go.
26:10Everybody looks gorgeous.
26:13Wow.
26:15Coming up on Project Runway.
26:17I am not crazy about that color at all.
26:19It looks cheap to me.
26:20That's not the issue.
26:21You needed to just take the volume dial and go.
26:25Welcome to the runway.
26:32As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
26:37For this challenge, we ask you to create a prom dress for some discriminating young clients from St. John Fianney High School in New Jersey.
26:45We gave you $250 in two days to complete the prom dress.
26:49Let's meet the judges.
26:52First, we have top American designer, Michael Kors.
26:55Hey, guys.
26:55Next, we have Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine.
26:59Hi, everyone.
27:00Hi.
27:01And renowned designer, Gilles Mandel, head designer for Jay Mandel.
27:05Hello, everyone.
27:06Hi, guys.
27:06We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
27:10One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
27:16Let's start the show.
27:21When I see Nicole walk down the runway, I just want to cry.
27:24I love the dress.
27:26She looks so pretty, and I'm so happy.
27:29I'm happy with the dress.
27:41It's something that I definitely think that I would wear, that I'm happy to see Jess in.
27:47She was adorable.
27:52I think my prom dress, it's glamorous, and it's just what my girl wanted.
27:58It's not that crazy out of the box or anything, but I did it really well.
28:03I loved it.
28:07I kind of took a chance on this one.
28:09I was very daring.
28:10I thought it was great for Tizzy.
28:12It was a well-made dress.
28:22As my dress is walking down the runway, I'm happy with the way it moves and with the design.
28:27And it definitely fulfilled the challenge of satisfying the client.
28:38I love the dress in the front.
28:41The back was just awful.
28:43It was so short.
28:44It was really embarrassing.
28:45I'm really excited about the prom dress.
28:55I can tell that she feels great, and it suits her perfectly.
28:59I feel really good about my dress.
29:08I guess the best thing for me was my client was really happy.
29:11What more could I ask for?
29:12I love my dress.
29:21I know it's a risk, but I feel confident because Bianca is very happy with the idea and the design,
29:30and I thought she looked great.
29:31The next time was really fine.
29:33I'm not sure.
29:40We've scored your designs.
29:42Will the following designers please step forward?
29:46Kit.
29:49Jillian.
29:52Chris.
29:52if i have called your name congratulations your scores have qualified you to move on
30:01to the next challenge you can leave the runway thank you
30:04the six remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named
30:18the winner and one of you will be out let's bring out your models
30:23sweet pea tell us about your prom dress she wanted something grecian and she mentioned
30:43hollywood glamour i think it fits her body really good and and i personally love it
30:48nicole is this the dress that you asked sweet pea to make for you yeah this is exactly what
30:54i want the choice of the color i think is really good it's really very nice you know on the skin
30:59overall i think it's a pretty dress it's a little sophisticated for a 17 year old i guess it's my
31:07point of view but the fabric is very beautiful it's very pretty and as far as it being adult
31:13well let's be honest i mean look what hollywood at 18 is do me a favor turn around i i i think
31:20overall it's really done well it's very flattering on her i think you look gorgeous
31:23kevin tell me about your dress lizzie walked in and i saw that she was um she was filipino and i
31:32wanted to do something that would complement her skin color so automatically thought of red i am not
31:37crazy about that color at all she looks much older than her 17 years the dress to begin with is not
31:45really young looking and i think the cut of the dress is adding to the kind of matronliness of it
31:52and the other thing is i am distracted by the hemming i put a stitch on the bottom i didn't fold it
31:59on her because i was scared it was going to get worse it was going to make it worse it also you
32:03know it looks cheap to me i agree i agree with all of you victoria is this the dress that jessica
32:12asport i think it was the girl that she wanted to project herself to be for prom night i think that
32:18it's chic and young at the same time she looks like she's gonna have a good time in that i really
32:24like the choice of color it looks great on her it's fun it's modern it's appropriate and do you
32:32feel i love it you love it you know she looks terrific when i saw her on the runway she walked
32:39it and she felt like sparkling so it's wonderful christian tell us about your prom dress i will just
32:46be honest it was very hard she's very she's very opinionated i will tell you honey you know you are
32:55i actually like the dress i like the color and i love the work that you've done on it
32:59gil what do you think well there's definitely a conflict between both of them that really reflects
33:04already you know in the results he definitely is very labored uh there's a lot of work
33:11somehow definitely it doesn't for me totally relate with the lady who is wearing it i do
33:16agree with jill you have a lot of ruffles and you have a lot of lace which is exactly what she
33:21loves i want like lily legs here place here she wanted this whole front to be completely rhinestone
33:29and jewel the whole thing i think maddie is writhing wanting everything she wants but you as a designer
33:36need to have some kind of finesse and tact in how to deal with that i just don't like the fact that
33:44you're blaming maddie for some of your you know i don't know i don't like that thank you
33:55ricky what were you trying to say with this dress as a designer it's me the girl inside me would wear
34:00this perfect with your hat right how do you feel i like it i feel really good in it overall i think it's
34:07a cute dress execution i have some some issue at the bottom of the dress i just think that when it
34:13comes to the ruching it gets a little sloppy it doesn't look like it's meant to be that way when
34:20i saw it for the first time i thought it just washed her out completely pretty but it's kind of boring i
34:26thought you needed to just take the volume dial and go you know what i mean the color volume up the drapery
34:36turn it up rami tell us about your dress when i met bianca the first thing she emphasized is comfort
34:47and something that is different it's really a a draped cocktail dress that's what i chose
34:54the color choice it doesn't to me uh give me the idea of prom it looks too lady at lunch to me you know
35:01the length is like at the knee mostly i think it's maybe too sophisticated for her may i respond to
35:07that yeah my work is always sophisticated as a designer this is my belief i think the most important
35:14thing is that i did not really give up too much of my vision but when i look at that dress she's a 35
35:19year old woman in new york going out to dinner which is usually my customer it's it's old-fashioned it just is
35:25so we really only like two this week it seems like there was definitely something about
35:55the gown that sweet pea made first off i think she finished it meticulously it fit her client very
36:01very well it's not easy to make a simple dress like that you know sexy but sort of elegant i liked it a
36:07lot and then there was victoria really really cute and it was really gutsy of her to go with something
36:15that bright it just looks like what a modern prom dress should look like i think she looks so adorable
36:21and the whole package was right with the rest of the designers we had some problems for example
36:30rami i think that the dress was beautifully draped but the color was old you know well also then his
36:38excuse is i don't work with young girls you know the challenge is a prom dress he was just designing for
36:45rami and that's it then you have someone like christian who clearly had a battle with his model
36:53i understand she was difficult and she had a personality but he kind of blamed everything on
36:59maddie i didn't appreciate that at all from christian i think he was working too hard on those details
37:05i feel the dress is way too worked i mean it's just like all over the place to me
37:12ricky i think it was such a non-event that dress right you know the color washed her out totally
37:18i just think that in a weird way he had all the good intentions but at the end the drape was
37:23not very good it's like kind of like close but no cigar it's always the same every time
37:29that leaps is with kevin cheap yeah it just looked cheap i mean i think she looked like
37:39you know 29.95 prom yeah the dress didn't look rich definitely and she looked older so much older
37:46than her 17 years it was with poor taste so we've made our decision yes okay let's call them back out
37:59one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
38:22one of you will be named the winner
38:23one of you will be out and now for the winner of this challenge there were actually only two of
38:33you that we liked victoria and sweet pea
38:42congratulations
38:47victoria thank you you are the winner of this challenge and as the winner you have immunity
38:53and you cannot be eliminated in the next challenge you and sweet pea can leave the runway all the
38:59self-imposed torture that i went through with this dress was worth it to get immunity because immunity
39:06is priceless
39:07the winner of this
39:15ricky you're in you can leave the runway
39:19rami
39:27rami you're in you can leave the runway
39:33ricky you're in you can leave the runway
39:41kevin christian one of you will be out
39:52kevin from head to toe the overall look was cheap
39:57and unflattering tiziana looked like she was 17 going on 40. christian blaming maddie for the
40:07failure of your prom dress is inexcusable the execution was poor and that was your fault
40:13ricky you're out
40:20kevin
40:23you're out
40:26christian that means you're in you can leave the runway
40:29thank you thank you
40:35what's he does mean kevin
40:36thank you very much i appreciate everything i really do i promise you that you guys will see
