00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03For your next challenge, you will be creating an avant-garde look inspired by a model's hairstyle.
00:10The challenge really just couldn't be better.
00:15I'm trying to build us a cell phone tower so we can call out.
00:19I'm not asking for a long.
00:21Okay.
00:22The way she works, I don't agree with.
00:24Don't do, just calm down.
00:25I just was like so mad.
00:27I have a special announcement to make.
00:30There will be another look walking down the runway tomorrow.
00:34Another look.
00:36My reaction is horror, nausea.
00:47Congratulations.
00:48Christian, you were the winner of this challenge.
00:51Thank you very much.
00:53Rami, I wonder if there's something else that you can do.
00:56It's not avant-garde.
00:58It's cheap.
00:59It's real cheap.
01:00Kit, you're out.
01:07The winner of Project Runway will receive a spread in Elle magazine,
01:10an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com,
01:13an all-new 2008 Saturn Astra,
01:16and $100,000 to start their own line,
01:18furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
01:21This is Project Runway.
01:23Let's go.
01:24Hell yes, I'm the best.
01:25You're either in or you're out.
01:27I'm in, they're out.
01:29I would be caught dead in his clothes.
01:31Fashion's my life.
01:32Who will be the next big fashion designer?
01:34That's me.
01:35Bottom line, I'm the best.
01:37I will own the runway.
01:39For these 15 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:52Kit, you're not gonna have any more coffee, right?
01:54This is...
01:55My name's not Kit.
01:56I'm sorry.
01:57Kit got eliminated.
01:59She's just cool and like, I'm gonna miss her.
02:02Do you want a peanut butter sandwich, Kit, since our breakfast?
02:04My name's not Kit.
02:05Oh, I'm sorry, Sweet Pea.
02:07My name is Sweet Pea.
02:08I'm sorry, Sweet Pea.
02:09We have seven people left.
02:14But nothing changed here.
02:16We're all still here.
02:17That's true.
02:18We're the only department that has lost anybody.
02:21Mm-hmm.
02:22Get out!
02:25I'm not ready to go home,
02:26and I'm trying to be excited about everything,
02:29but it's hard to be excited about everything
02:32when every time you go to elimination,
02:34you're told that you're not good enough.
02:38Ready to go?
02:49Hello.
02:50Hi.
02:53Before we talk about your next challenge,
02:55let's bring out the winning and losing designers models.
03:02Models, this is a competition for you too.
03:11The model paired with a winning designer
03:14will get a fashion spread in our magazine.
03:17Christian, you were the winner of the last challenge,
03:20so you have the option of swapping models
03:23with a fellow designer.
03:25Your model was Lisa.
03:28If you decide to stay with her,
03:30Marie will be out.
03:32If you decide to swap,
03:34I will bring out all the models for you to choose from.
03:36What do you want to do?
03:37Marie, I love you,
03:39but I have to stay with Lisa.
03:45That means, Marie, you're out.
03:46Auf Wiedersehen.
03:50Thank you is more than life.
03:52Bye.
03:59Ready for your next challenge?
04:00Sure.
04:01Good.
04:02Because Tim is waiting for you in the lobby.
04:04He will be taking you on a little field trip.
04:08So let's not keep Tim waiting.
04:10Okay.
04:11Get going.
04:12And I see you on the runway.
04:14Bye.
04:15A field trip could go either way.
04:18It could be something tragic,
04:20like you end up in a garbage can
04:22trying to make a wedding gown out of it.
04:24Or you could be going to Paris
04:26creating some crazy couture gown
04:28or something like that.
04:29All right, everybody.
04:31We're taking a little field trip.
04:33So, come with me.
04:42Are we going to meet somebody fabulous today?
04:44We are fabulous.
04:45We don't need to meet anybody else.
04:46We're very true.
04:48We're driving.
04:49Who knows where we're going?
04:50All of a sudden,
04:51we're going over the Brooklyn Bridge.
04:52So definitely Borough.
04:54And that was really fabulous.
04:56Oh, look how pretty it looks over there.
04:58I think we have a boat in our future.
05:00You think so?
05:01Yeah.
05:02We're designing cement galoshes.
05:04Uh-oh.
05:05We end up at this pier on the East River overlooking Manhattan.
05:17We walk over to this garage and there's a woman standing there.
05:22And we don't know who she is.
05:25Designers, I want to introduce Caroline Calvin,
05:28Senior Vice President of Design for Levi's.
05:30Good morning, designers.
05:31Good morning.
05:32Good morning.
05:33Behind this door, you'll find the raw materials for your challenge.
05:36The garage door is racing pretty slowly.
05:41And I don't even know if I want to know what's on the other side of that door.
05:46Fabulous.
05:47Wow.
05:48The doors open and there are hundreds and hundreds of Levi's jeans just hanging on clotheslines.
06:04Inside this warehouse, you'll find more than 500 pairs of 501s in a variety of styles and colors,
06:11as well as one yard bolts of white cotton.
06:14These are the raw materials for this challenge.
06:16So designers, your challenge today is to create an iconic denim look of your choice
06:23that captures the spirit of originality and creativity that has lived in the heart of the Levi's brand.
06:29I haven't worked with denim in a long time, so I'm really excited.
06:33There are laundry bags inside for each of you.
06:36When I say go, you'll have three minutes to fit as much as you can into the laundry bags.
06:41The jeans were hung so far into the distance.
06:44We're like, oh, do we really have to run that whole way?
06:47All right.
06:48You're ready?
06:49Yes.
06:50Yeah.
06:51Go.
06:52Woo!
06:53We have to get our bags.
06:54I lost the shoe.
06:55I'm running super fast and my shoe falls off.
06:56It's so dirty in that place.
06:57You see my foot?
06:58My strategy for the three minutes is to get all the dark pairs that I want because I'm thinking to go for a dark look.
07:11I grabbed jackets and jeans.
07:12I ended up picking the lightest color that they have.
07:14So crazy.
07:15We all just started pulling down the jeans and the clothespins were flying everywhere.
07:20Honestly, I went for a jacket and I went for dark denim, but then I just grabbed everything.
07:24All right, one minute.
07:25Those are mine.
07:26I think they might be mine, but yeah, I think they might be mine.
07:44I will not lie.
07:45I'm a pretty competitive person.
07:48I think they might be mine.
07:50I will not lie.
07:51I'm a pretty competitive person.
07:53When you're grabbing everything you can,
07:56you don't have time to stop and look.
08:01Ooh, they're dirty.
08:03Look at the floor.
08:06Five seconds.
08:08Not fitting.
08:09All right, time.
08:13I need to get my shoe.
08:14I knew your shoe was going to come off.
08:18All right, everybody.
08:30There are a ton of notions from Levi's, OK?
08:34Cool.
08:35You have until midnight tonight.
08:39Go, go.
08:43Ooh, these are kind of cute.
08:47I think denim's fun to work with.
08:49I make my hat sometimes out of denim.
08:51I thought to myself, it needs to be something that no one else here
08:55can do.
08:56I knew that no one could fit denim like I can fit it.
08:59So I chose the corset, which again is an iconic piece.
09:04I'm making a coat, and it's kind of futuristic looking.
09:07It has to be dramatic and interesting and forward.
09:11I use mostly the 501 jeans, and I'm using the labels as an epaulette
09:15on the one shoulder.
09:17It looks like Jillian got the most stuff.
09:19More than Rami.
09:20I think Rami got the most stuff.
09:22He just grabbed whatever he wanted.
09:24Greedy bitch.
09:25Greedy bitch?
09:26I was the one behind all of you guys.
09:27I know, right?
09:30I am not specifically an American designer.
09:34I was born in the city of Jerusalem, living in a politically
09:38complicated environment where three major religions sort of
09:43mix and have conflict.
09:45And because of lack of activities, came the love for sketching
09:48and design.
09:49And it was the perfect escape at the age of five or six or seven.
09:54Because I'm not from the United States,
09:56my take is a little bit different.
09:57It's a little bit more fashion forward, more edgy.
10:00The skirt and the shirt that I'm making is going to show that
10:04Levi's can be a little bit more refined, yet hip.
10:10Miner, you like rolled around on the floor, I think.
10:14I know.
10:15I just bang out the dirt.
10:17My jeans are totally dirty that I got today,
10:19because like an idiot, I dropped them all on the ground.
10:22Hey, Chris, you're super smart.
10:25Oh, really?
10:25Is there a good way to get dirt out of this stuff?
10:27I would wait until you're done, and then I would, like,
10:30damp cloth it.
10:31I wouldn't.
10:32I would wipe it with a dry piece of denim.
10:34But then if you wipe it with a little bit of a damp cloth,
10:36a lot of it will pick up.
10:37No, lady.
10:38Wipe it dry, or it'll seep into the denim,
10:40and you're not going to get it out.
10:41I don't know how many times you've been paid as a stylist.
10:43Obviously, I know more than you,
10:45since you're going to wet denim.
10:49It's so cute to see you.
10:52I think that Christian's very talented,
10:54and there's nothing wrong with having a high level of confidence.
10:57But I think that Christian is very immature.
11:00Deconstruct denim.
11:02Make it your own.
11:04Deconstruct, great.
11:06Somebody needs to give him a bottle and send him to bed.
11:10So hard.
11:12Like, what am I supposed to do with this?
11:16I feel like I'm in first grade.
11:18Please deconstruct.
11:21Wow, I did that when I was in fashion school.
11:24Christian is like a cartoon character.
11:27There's so much yakking and bitching.
11:29If I had hair on my head, I'd want to tear it out.
11:31Oh, my god.
11:33I'm going to die of barfness.
11:36So disgusting.
11:39Like, god.
11:40This is not how fashion is.
11:42It's interesting, but I just couldn't do it every day.
11:51My idea was to do a coat, a very classic trench.
11:57One of the reasons why I think I'm so into fashion
12:00is because my mother's always been a source of inspiration for me.
12:04When I was growing up, she always made everything I wanted.
12:08I would sketch things, and she would sew them up beautifully.
12:12So I'd like to think that she'd be happy and proud
12:14if I make it to the finals.
12:17Jillian's doing a jacket soon.
12:19I know.
12:20I heard her when she was saying it,
12:21but I wasn't going to change my concept.
12:23Yeah.
12:24Very true.
12:30I didn't even realize it until, like, halfway through.
12:32I looked over, and I saw that she was also making a denim coat.
12:35So I was like, wow, that's kind of crazy.
12:38We just worked on the previous challenge together,
12:40and I made that coat.
12:42And I didn't even know she had any interesting coats.
12:46It's just really annoying, actually.
12:50Coming up on Project Runway.
12:52Yeah.
12:53You're bleeding everywhere.
12:55I feel like a mess.
12:59Whoa.
13:00Oh, no.
13:01I feel so manly working with denim.
13:09It's like a Mason Day parade up in here.
13:11Ho, ho, ho.
13:13We were given this, like, Levi look book.
13:16And inside this book was this denim trucker jacket.
13:21And immediately when I heard the name, just like, trucker jacket,
13:25I instantly clicked with this edgy biker outfit for a woman.
13:32Tendom's cool because it's easy to sew.
13:34It's easy to cut.
13:35So I am making a wedding dress.
13:37The wedding dress I wore was, I don't want to say casual,
13:41but it's not like a big satin dress that looks like you're on a wedding cake.
13:44Sage and I got married about a year ago.
13:47For the last two years, Sage has been supporting me financially.
13:52I think my husband will be really proud when he sees the dress.
13:56Oh, my God, I love you.
14:01It's so quiet with everyone gone.
14:03It's kind of weird.
14:04Everybody's gone.
14:05Like, there's not that many of us left.
14:07I don't like it.
14:08It's hard when some of your favorite people are just leaving.
14:12I know, and some annoying people are still left.
14:15Gone.
14:18Blah.
14:20The fact that Ricky's here, I think, is a joke
14:22because I think he should have gone home instead of Kit.
14:25His work has been the same boring thing since day one.
14:29I think he has no vision at all.
14:34Because I've been on the bottom so much,
14:36I've been getting these looks like I am so not worthy of being here.
14:40I'm not the kind of person that says,
14:41oh, I'm fierce and me, me, me.
14:43But I think the designers don't know that I have the experience I have.
14:47I was an assistant designer for the Valentino lingerie.
14:50I worked with Oscar De La Renta.
14:52I was the VP of design for the Vera Wang lingerie.
14:56I know for a fact that I'm a great designer,
14:58so I'm OK with that.
14:59Do you think Chris is trembling all by himself?
15:05Probably.
15:06Actually, you know what?
15:07No, he's probably talking to himself like a crackhead.
15:09Let's see, how else can I do this?
15:10I guess I could just pin this up there.
15:11Why does he talk to himself like that?
15:12It's so weird.
15:13I want to let the jeans speak.
15:17there. Why does he talk to himself like that? It's so weird. I want to, like, let the jeans
15:26speak. To me, the most iconic fashion piece is the little black dress, so I'm making a
15:32little blue dress out of denim. I like that. When I work on something, I talk to it. You're
15:39so cute. That's just the way that I work. You talking to yourself, honey? Sorry, does
15:44my talking to my garment disturb you? A little. I don't really care. Shut up.
15:52Hi, Tim. Hi. So, Ricky, how are you? I'm good. I'm good. Talk to me. Well, I need to keep
15:59an eye on my strengths and work with that. All right. I agree. Yeah. I do lingerie, but
16:04I think I'm really good at dresses. It's stunning. Just deliver it. Of course. All
16:10right. Thanks, Ricky. Thank you. Okay. You know, I have to really wow the judges. I'm
16:15still trying to figure out how to finish it off, how to wow it, but I think that that's
16:20going to come. It'll wow them. Chris. Hello. How are you? Good. How are you? I'm good.
16:27What are you doing with this? This is staying this way. Really? Yeah.
16:32Why? Because I like it. It looks incongruous to me. I really like it a lot, so I'm happy
16:44with that. All right. Okay. Carry on. Yes. How are you doing? I'm doing okay. I'm just trying
16:54to rush to get it done. And I'm trying to create a coat that has, like, a little bit
17:00of a futuristic edge to it. I think you have a ways to go. A ways to go. Yeah. Go. Go,
17:11go, go. Thank you, Jillian. Thank you, Tim. So how's Rami? I'm good. Just rushing, you
17:17know? You know, I saw this across the room, and I couldn't figure out what this was. The
17:21fact that it's a zipper, it's fabulous. You like that? It has potential for blowing everybody
17:28away. I hope so. We'll see. It really does. All right. Thank you, Tim. I appreciate it.
17:32Thanks, Rami. Thanks. Hi, Tim. Hi. Talk to me. Well, so I wanted to do just like a classic
17:39little trench. I just will say that it's looking patchwork-y. Okay. And I don't know that that's
17:48going to be to your advantage. Yeah. I didn't want it to be patchwork-y either. I hate that.
17:53No. And so the only way, since I didn't really have a lot of denim that matched, was to use the
17:58underside of a wash denim. Just make it look right. Okay. Okay. Thank you. So talk to me. What are
18:08you doing? I'm making a wedding dress. Mm-hmm. Is it scaring you? Mm-hmm. Oh, no. It's scaring me.
18:18It is. It's looking very happy hands at home granny circle. Oh, no. Yeah. Oh, God. I did think it
18:28looked a little, uh, hippie. Ugh. It's hippie dippy. Maybe I should just make it a dress. Cut all that
18:36other stuff off. Resolve the skirt. Okay. I'm going to get to work. All right. Thanks. Thank
18:45you, sweet pea. I'll fix it. All right, designers, you have two hours remaining tonight. All right?
18:57So make it work. Thanks, Tim. I'll see you in the morning. Thank you, Tim. All right? All right.
19:01Carry on. Bye. Holy s**t. I thought I had a really great idea, but, um, I really take Tim's
19:15word, so I decided to shorten it. If I'm not the most iconic, then just sue me.
19:23It's just laughing that we have an hour left.
19:25This isn't just fun, Jillian. I don't mind it if there was time to do the work. Well, yeah,
19:32hello. What did you expect? You don't, yeah. I'm just kind of venting out loud the way you
19:38do. Oh, my God. Sister. If you don't understand the situation by now, you're refusing to learn.
19:47Um, Jillian, maybe it's not such a good idea to take on such a complicated thing when you
19:53know you have less than 10 hours to make it in.
20:14I can't. I keep cutting myself. I know. Look at me. I'm all bloody and bruised.
20:18Are you all right, Jillian? Come on. You're bleeding everywhere. Where? Everywhere. Blood?
20:32I don't see it. I don't even see it. Move your hand from it. I just keep stabbing my fingertips
20:38over and over and over. I feel like a mess, and I'm in a really bad mental condition.
20:47In 10 minutes, you can never even freak out, but not right now. Just keep sewing.
20:55This challenge, it was a tough one. I don't think anybody else really that close to being
20:58finished. I was sewing, like, so fast. I wasn't even talking to people. Thank God I have immunity,
21:04so I know I'm safe.
21:15Coming up on Project Runway. I am concerned, and I'm freaking out.
21:20They'll hate it, but whatever. F*** them. Jillian.
21:22Coming.
21:22I'm really very well aware that Brian Park is getting really close, but I feel like I've made
21:38it this far, and I'm going to keep going. Trust me, it's going to be out of control in that runway.
21:45They're going to freak out on all of us. Maybe Nina's going to jump up on the stage
21:50and strangle you. No, wait. You're going to jump down from the stage and strangle her ass.
21:57Good thing I have immunity. Ha ha. You're a lucky bitch.
22:00Are you ready, little darling? Yes.
22:03Arriba, arriba.
22:05I don't remember how to say shut up.
22:07She's running in those heels.
22:19The first thing that I do when I enter the workroom in the morning is run to my desk.
22:24I need to get back to work. I have a lot to do.
22:26Rami, cross your fingers and pray for two hours.
22:29I am.
22:30To make a coat in one day, to be honest, it's just ridiculous.
22:34I'm hot gluing every last thing.
22:37I need her so I can fit this.
22:40Is my glue gun on?
22:42Good morning, designers.
22:43Morning.
22:44How is everybody?
22:45Good.
22:46Good.
22:46All right, designers, you will have an hour to send your models to the Présime Hair Salon
22:51and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room.
22:53And remember, use the bluefly.com accessory wall.
22:55I know you will.
22:56Okay?
22:57Make it work.
22:58All right.
22:59I'm sending in your models.
23:01Thank you, Timmy.
23:01Thank you, Timmy.
23:03Where's Lisa?
23:04Hi, yo.
23:04So I'm going to figure really quick and then go back to the sewing room because there's
23:08much to be done.
23:09Okay.
23:10Fabulous.
23:11Oh!
23:13Murphy, have another drink.
23:16Can you try this on?
23:17Because I think I made it too short.
23:18It's just going to be this.
23:19Oh my God, what did Victoria make?
23:20It's like she didn't do anything.
23:22I think a couple of people in the room could have made what she made in probably like two
23:26hours.
23:27It just was like a jacket with some stuff on and off.
23:31Don't ever expect me to be finished when you get here.
23:34But guess what, girl?
23:35I'm taking you with me to the top every time.
23:38We have some time, so I just need to take it easy and make it beautiful.
23:42When she finally had the look on, she looked amazing.
23:45I just think, wow, that's exactly what I want it to look like.
23:49It's gorgeous.
23:51They'll hate it, but whatever.
23:52them.
23:53I'm over them.
23:54I don't know if what I'm doing is what the judges want, but I keep telling myself that
23:59what I'm doing is what I want.
24:01It was going to be a wedding dress.
24:02Does it just look too hippie in it?
24:04She almost looks like hippie.
24:07We put on the dress and she just looks great.
24:10So I feel really confident.
24:12I'm still not sure I'll be in the top, but I'm positive I'll be safe.
24:16Damn, Christian, you're good.
24:19Let's see booty.
24:21Oh, so hot.
24:22I'm like so nervous right now for some reason because I just want to get this right.
24:26Right now, again, I find myself very pressed for time.
24:29I just want to make it to the finals.
24:31Despite all of this, I still want to make it to the finals.
24:35Crazy.
24:36I think I'm pictorials.
24:38It looks so similar to mine this time.
24:43Still, it's just the one.
24:44Okay, let's go to hair and makeup.
24:48Make it work.
24:49Make it work.
24:51Bump here.
24:52A little bit of it.
25:07So hot.
25:08Oh my God, I love it.
25:09I think I deserve to win on this challenge because I actually made a jacket and a pair of jeans,
25:13which is such an iconic look, but I made it in a completely new way.
25:17The bottom of the pants was actually out of the sleeve of a jacket.
25:22You know, if I have to see another tube dress, I'm going to kill myself.
25:26Like, I can't even stand it.
25:28I'm going to die.
25:28What is it?
25:29Come closer to me.
25:31I am concerned and I'm freaking out.
25:33My only option is to glue the buttons onto my skirt because time is just going by really
25:37quick and I have to figure out a way to really get it all done.
25:44Oh boy, I'm nervous.
25:48The camera's running out.
25:51All right, designers, models, it's time for the runway.
25:55Let me get one more glue stick.
25:58So come with me.
25:59All right?
26:00All right.
26:01Okay.
26:02Hold on one second.
26:03Come, come, come.
26:04Definitely, I was working until the very last second and I wasn't very proud of my workmanship.
26:12I just should have simplified my design.
26:14Jillian?
26:15Coming.
26:16Come.
26:22Coming up on Project Runway.
26:24You know, it's not very flattering on her.
26:27You were not inspired by this at all.
26:34Welcome to the runway.
26:38As you know, in fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.
26:44For this challenge, we asked you to create an iconic denim look using Levi's 501 jeans
26:50as your raw materials.
26:52The competition is getting tougher, so immunity will not be given to the winner of this challenge
26:58or to the winners of any other challenges moving forward.
27:03Let's meet the judges.
27:06First, we have top American designer Michael Kors.
27:09Hey, guys.
27:10Hi.
27:11Next, we have Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine.
27:15Hello, everyone.
27:16Hi, Nina.
27:16And senior vice president of design for Levi's, Caroline Calvin.
27:21Hi.
27:21Hi.
27:22We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
27:25One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
27:30Let's start the show.
27:31I'm really happy with my look.
27:42I think it's just detailed enough.
27:45It's well put together.
27:47It's really pretty.
27:48I think it's really neat.
27:49I love it.
27:57When I see my garment, I enjoy it.
28:00She looked like one of my sketches.
28:01She looked like the girl in my head.
28:03It felt so good.
28:04It felt amazing to see her like that.
28:13I love my final look.
28:14It looked really clean and polished.
28:16It didn't look hippie or Woodstock at all.
28:19Jacqueline always does such a great job walking down the runway.
28:34I was working until the very last minute, but I was relatively happy with the way that she
28:38looked.
28:38My finished garment looks so nice, in my opinion.
28:51I love it.
28:52I really think it makes jeans look dressier and more modern.
28:57My outfit's pretty fierce.
29:04I think it's pretty amazing what I did with the two different types of garments that I made.
29:09So I love it.
29:10It was very innovative, and it worked out really, really cool and really hot.
29:13I'm kind of happy with the look.
29:22I think that I could have done a whole lot more with it, but I almost kind of liked it,
29:26actually.
29:26I thought that there was potential in that coat.
29:38We've scored your designs, and we would like to talk to all of you.
29:44Let's bring out your models.
29:56Christian, tell us about your look.
30:03I wanted to create this kind of trucker, motorcycle kind of look.
30:07For the jacket, I actually used all 501 jeans, two different washes.
30:12For the jean, I actually used the trucker jacket as the lengthening of the bottom of the jean.
30:21The fact that you've taken the jacket and made it into the part of the jean, that you took
30:24all the different elements of the 501.
30:26That's very innovative.
30:27I like that.
30:29I love the fact that you were inventive.
30:31It's the motocross jean.
30:33Motocross jean.
30:34You know, maybe that is the iconic element.
30:37That's what I was going for.
30:39I think they fit her really well.
30:41They're not stretched.
30:42Not at all.
30:43They're hard to get on her, let me tell you.
30:45I think you did a brilliant job tailoring it.
30:47Great, thank you.
30:50Chris, tell us about your look.
30:52My idea behind my look was to take the little black dress and make a little blue dress.
30:59The little black dress is an iconic item.
31:02What is an iconic item?
31:03It has to look timeless.
31:05And this item to me looks dated.
31:08I think you have a start of a really great dress, but it does look like two ideas and
31:13that it's not quite yet finished.
31:16When I saw it coming down the runway, I noticed the threads straight away.
31:20I kind of left it that way on purpose.
31:23But to me, it's kind of like, why didn't he play with fraying all over the dress?
31:27It looks a little home sewn.
31:31Rami, tell us about your denim look.
31:33It's made out of pieces from three different pants and parts of jacket.
31:38And I used the zipper trim to sort of go all around the seams to outline sort of certain areas.
31:43In terms of originality and creativity, I think it's quite fun.
31:47Thanks.
31:48I think you had something there with these zippers.
31:50And I think there's something to be said for an idea that could be interpreted into separates
31:55or sportswear.
31:56I'm so happy to see you work with another material.
32:00Yeah.
32:01I like the fact that it's very sharp and it's very clean and it's very well done.
32:05Very sophisticated, as usual, coming from you.
32:08Thanks.
32:10Ricky, tell us about your look.
32:13I wanted to make a little cocktail dress.
32:15Denim done up, you know?
32:16And it says something about me.
32:18It's a little bitch in me.
32:19It fits her like a glove.
32:22That was great.
32:22I also love the whole outfit.
32:24I love the hair.
32:25I thought it was very sweet.
32:27I think it's a 501 made into a fantastic dress.
32:31I can see your craftsmanship.
32:33It's just really cool.
32:35I love Amy Winehouse.
32:38And obviously, you must love Amy Winehouse, too, since she's modeling today.
32:44I think this is the first thing that I've seen from you, where instead of me hearing
32:51that you work on lingerie, and then I don't see the results, today, I see the results.
32:59It looks impeccable, and that's what we've been expecting from your work, and you've delivered
33:04it.
33:09What's up with you?
33:10This is like a roller coaster.
33:14You don't know where to go.
33:15You don't know if you suck, if you don't suck, and...
33:19It doesn't go away.
33:22I know.
33:23That's why you just kind of...
33:24It just doesn't go away.
33:25I know, I know.
33:28Okay, Jillian, tell us about your denim look.
33:30I just took a lot of different pairs of jeans and attached them to construct the shape, and
33:36molded the top, and went for a free-flowing bottom.
33:39I wanted to take that and bring it into the future.
33:43I was a little surprised, Jillian, especially coming off the last challenge, where you did
33:47this impeccable jacket.
33:50Today, I'm not so much in love.
33:52I think that might be a case that I was ambitious to make a coat in a small period of time.
33:57The red tabs, there's a little bit too many on one side.
34:00It's a little bit distracting.
34:02It's overly complicated.
34:03You have some good ideas, it's just that there's too many of them.
34:09I don't know, she looks bigger, too.
34:11You know, it's not very flattering on her.
34:13I want to see the model look fabulous.
34:16And she looks fabulous, but not in that.
34:22Sweetie, tell us about your look.
34:24I wanted to play with patchwork, and it originally started as a long dress, and it looked 270s.
34:31So, I cut it off, and it instantly took away the hippy-dippiness of it.
34:36I think it's super chic.
34:38Really, really chic.
34:40I think the mix of the denims is great.
34:42And also, it's got the voodoo in it, I call it.
34:46It's got magic.
34:46Slimming voodoo.
34:47Slimming voodoo, exactly.
34:49I think any of us girls here, except for Michael, would wear it.
34:52With the right shoe.
34:53Yes, would wear it.
34:55And I think we could wear it on many different occasions, which is very important.
35:02The one thing that I was thinking is, I am missing a bit of the Levi's 501 in there.
35:07But in terms of the tailoring and the fitting, it's spectacular.
35:11Thanks.
35:14Victoria, tell us about your look.
35:16I actually took a jean jacket that was there, you know, and I started to drape, like, conventional trench details,
35:24like a storm flat.
35:25So, in my eyes, it doesn't seem like then you didn't have that much to do.
35:29You would think that there wasn't a lot of work involved, but for some reason, I was still kind of in the sewing room, working away.
35:36Well, I think the intention to think about a trim little trench coat perhaps was a good idea.
35:42But I don't think it made one garment.
35:44The top of it literally looks like just a reconnoitered jean jacket.
35:49And then I feel like the two things don't go together.
35:52It looks like a party skirt got glued onto your jean jacket.
35:57It's almost like you were not inspired by this at all.
36:03We've heard what you had to say.
36:05We're going to need some time to talk.
36:07You can go the wrong way.
36:09Who's did we like?
36:20I think that Ricky's dress was very clever, using the button fly up the front of the dress.
36:26He really was very meticulous about his work.
36:29The seaming was beautiful.
36:31There was a confidence about his design.
36:33We keep saying to him, where's this lingerie experience?
36:37The minute she turned the corner, I said, oh, there it is.
36:41He's showing you the lingerie experience.
36:42Finally, the Ricky that we've all been waiting for.
36:45How did you all like Christian's outfit?
36:51He put a lot of details that represented the 501.
36:54And he thought about, it could be an iconic item.
36:57And then also it really fit with the concept that he was coming up with.
37:01He's the only one who sent out a new jean.
37:04I think a lot of people would be into that jean.
37:06Sweet Pea.
37:11Sweet Pea, it was all about turning denim into a very elegant, chic, and iconic kind of dress.
37:19You could dress it up, you could dress it down.
37:21I loved it.
37:26Rami wasn't too bad either.
37:28I loved the zipper outlining.
37:31Interestingly, you brought up, oh my God, it's not jersey.
37:34Denim's the opposite of jersey.
37:36Nice to see something different.
37:38Total.
37:44So who are our least favorites today?
37:47Why don't we start with Jillian?
37:48She should have kept it simple.
37:50She had some good ideas, but she had some bad ideas too.
37:54I mean, to have that much jean.
37:56Fabric around your body.
37:57I mean, you just look like a marshmallow.
38:03Chris, to me, was very boring.
38:04It had rough edges, but not rough enough.
38:08So there was just something that was quite not finished, and it was like one approach,
38:12or it's kind of like, which lane is he going down?
38:15It looked dated to me.
38:16You know, very working girl Joan Cusack and working girl.
38:19Victoria, everybody's had fun with the project, and I don't think she did, and it showed.
38:27My biggest issue was that it looked like a jean jacket that I already have, with a little skirt attached to it.
38:33Maybe if she didn't have the jacket to start, she could have got there.
38:36I mean, it just made no sense at all.
38:42So we made our decision.
38:45Good, let's bring them back out.
38:46One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
39:10One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
39:16Rami, you're in.
39:23You can be for Rami.
39:31And now for the winner of this challenge.
39:36Congratulations.
39:37You're the winner of this challenge, and Caroline has something to tell you.
39:46Rikki, we would like to sell a limited edition of your dress on Levi.com, so congratulations.
39:52It was really inspiring.
39:55It's great.
39:56Wow, cool.
39:57Okay, you can leave the runway.
40:05Yeah, I'm very happy.
40:07Just the fact that the judges really liked what I did, and they saw the work I put into it, that was all worth it.
40:14For me, that was winning.
40:24Sweet Pea, good job.
40:26You can leave the runway.
40:29Christian.
40:37Christian.
40:38You're in.
40:39You can leave the runway.
40:47Chris.
40:49You're in.
40:50You can leave the runway.
40:51You're in.
40:52You can leave the runway.
40:54Jillian, Victoria, one of you will be out.
41:13Jillian, your look was unflattering and unfocused, and you left us completely confused.
41:20Victoria, you gave us a doll outfit that really left us uninspired.
41:33Jillian, you're in.
41:39That means, Victoria, you're out.
41:41You're in.
41:41You're in.
41:50It's really hard for me because I am a competitive person, and I always try to let my work basically speak for itself.
42:11So, Victoria, I have to send you upstairs to clean up your space.
42:19Okay.
42:23Bye, guys.
42:24I don't want the good butt.
42:25I'll give you.
42:27What I've shown here is probably just a very small reflection of who I am as a designer, and I feel like I have a lot more to say.
42:37I intend to have a long and fulfilling career in fashion.
42:46Next on Project Runway.
42:48Inside is the destination for a field trip.
42:52I'm scared.
42:54They were like sex moans.
42:56Oh, my God.
42:58Oh, no.
43:00This is what we're going to be making.
43:03My shoe's sliding.
43:04I think this is the hardest challenge.
43:08It's sort of like going into foreign territories I'm not familiar with.
43:11This really worries me.
43:13They're hideous.
43:15I hate the color.
43:17I feel like the Pope at a sex club.
43:19I mean, I am just like, whoa.
