00:00Project Runway.
00:09I can't believe two are gone.
00:11I know, it's kind of surreal.
00:13Yeah, I can't believe Blaine.
00:15The last challenge.
00:16I was really close to getting sent home.
00:18I have to prove myself on this next challenge.
00:21I'm going to fight to the end, and I'm going to make it.
00:26What do you think we're going to be doing, Nick?
00:27We're going to make evening gowns for infants.
00:32In the last challenge, I didn't understand why I was at the bottom at all.
00:37So I'm sticking with my strategy, which is to stay true to myself as a designer
00:43and not really worry what the judges think.
00:46You guys ready to go?
00:48Yep.
00:49Let's go to Parson.
00:57Hello.
01:01Hi.
01:02Hi.
01:02Hi.
01:03Hi.
01:03Before I tell you about your next challenge, I have some special ladies to introduce.
01:10What?
01:11What?
01:11We see the first person come out, so I'm thinking, oh, God, the mom challenge.
01:23I remember what happened last time, and I don't want to have to step on nobody because they're
01:27talking about my mama.
01:27Clearly, these are mothers, but then I don't see coteaux or mine, so I don't really know
01:35what exactly this is all about.
01:39These ladies are an important part of your next challenge, but you will not be designing
01:44for them.
01:49Awesome, because none of us want to design an old lady outfit, to be honest.
01:53So I bet you're wondering what they're doing here, huh?
02:00These women have brought someone with them who you will be designing for, so let's meet
02:05them.
02:10All these little girls come marching out, and I'm like, is this some sort of prom challenge?
02:14They look really young.
02:18I would like you to meet their daughters.
02:20They're all recent college graduates, and their moms have brought them here for a head-to-toe
02:26makeover to help them transition into their new lives as independent, professional women.
02:33Okay, ladies, why don't you all introduce yourselves?
02:36I'm Anna.
02:36I'm 22.
02:38I'm her mom, Nancy.
02:39I'm Megan.
02:40I'm 21.
02:41I'm Amy, your mother.
02:43I'm Laura.
02:43I'm 23.
02:45I'm Janet.
02:46I'm Holly.
02:47I'm 22.
02:48I'm Ellie.
02:49I'm not 22.
02:51I'm Avital.
02:52I'm 26.
02:53I'm Yaffa, your mother.
02:55I'm Caitlin.
02:56I'm 22.
02:57I'm Ellen, and I'm her mother.
02:59All right, I have my trusty bag here, so I'm going to go down the line and pair you up.
03:06Kinley, you get Anna.
03:08Cool.
03:09I get paired up with Anna.
03:11She has a really cool style, so I'm happy to get her.
03:15Kato, you get Megan.
03:17That's so cute.
03:19Joe, you will be working with Laura.
03:24Leanne, you will be working with Hallie.
03:28There is no way this girl has just graduated college.
03:32She looks like she's 12.
03:33So, let's wait.
03:35So, you will be working with Avital.
03:37I have it.
03:39So, Jarell, you will be working with Caitlyn.
03:43Hey, Caitlyn.
03:43Hi.
03:44We're going to have fun.
03:45I can tell.
03:45Okay, you have your new clients.
03:50Tim will meet you in the workroom.
03:51Ladies, you will meet them there in a little bit.
03:54Have fun, and I'll see you on the runway.
03:57Let's go, ladies.
03:59Bye.
04:00Bye.
04:01Bye, ladies.
04:03See you soon.
04:09We've all got jumbo tables now.
04:11Hi, everybody.
04:14Hey, Tim.
04:15Hi, Tim.
04:15Designers, as you know, for this Tresemme challenge, you will be doing a makeover for recent college graduates.
04:23I'm sending them in along with their mothers, who will no doubt have opinions about the direction of this look.
04:29So, in a sense, they are both your clients.
04:33You will have 30 minutes to meet.
04:35Then we're going shopping at Mood with a budget of $100.
04:38Okay?
04:39So, good luck, and I'll see you in a bit.
04:42Thanks, Tim.
04:42All right.
04:43Thanks, Tim.
04:43Thanks, Tim.
04:44Mothers and daughters, welcome.
04:47The dynamics between mother and daughter is the eighth wonder of the world.
04:51If the mother likes it, the daughter isn't going to like it.
04:55So, how are we going to come up with something that the two of them are going to like that I've got to design and do a makeover with?
05:03Nice to meet you.
05:04Come on over.
05:05Hi.
05:06Nice to meet you.
05:07Come on back to my little workspace.
05:09Anna, Kenway.
05:10Nice to meet you.
05:11Hi.
05:12Oh, I look like...
05:13I got the cute girl.
05:14Oh, cool.
05:16I really like Anna.
05:18She's sweet.
05:19She reminds me of me.
05:20I just landed a position as an assistant buyer for women's accessories.
05:25It's perfect.
05:26I got the best girl.
05:27I love your style, first of all.
05:30This is vintage.
05:31This is vintage.
05:32She likes everything that I like, so I'm going to do what I do best and make a 40s or 50s look.
05:40See, sophisticated, that's what I like.
05:42You're right.
05:42Mothers are always right.
05:44Have you found a job yet, or what are you going to do?
05:47I'm kind of between med school or grad school.
05:48Like, what would you be more comfortable in?
05:50I mean, I do like dresses.
05:52Okay.
05:53I do feel I have a little advantage.
05:55I'm a hip mom, so I can relate to this 21-year-old without being, like, this older woman designing for her.
06:01I think she looks really great in classic clothes, but she also looks great in funky clothes.
06:06Really?
06:06She currently works in her school's lab, so I decided to do a wrap dress, something that kind of moves, because she's going to be wearing it with a lab coat over it.
06:15I went to school for printmaking, which leaves me teaching or artist reproductions.
06:21And so I'd like to work for a painter or somebody as their assistant.
06:24Caitlin's a designer, I'm a designer.
06:26We're both kind of tall and lanky and a little awkward.
06:29I'm not this girly.
06:30No, okay, do you want to kind of stray away from being too girly?
06:34Yeah, I'm a little more androgynous.
06:36Okay, okay.
06:36But as a girl still.
06:37Okay, yeah.
06:38The final design we agree on is a high-waist pencil skirt, a kind of blousy top, and a man-style cardigan.
06:44Kind of covers her up a little bit, but it's still flirty and sexy in its own little awkward way.
06:49Just like her and me.
06:51I'm looking to become an elementary school teacher.
06:53I need parents to look at me and know that I'm the teacher, not mistake me for a kid, and like I'm the authority in the class.
06:59I can't believe the way she dresses, you know?
07:01Like not too much makeup, not too much to make.
07:04I'm going to be designing for Holly.
07:07Being a teacher, she's going to be moving around a lot, and she wants something comfortable.
07:12Do you like skirts? Do you wear pants?
07:15I wear both.
07:16Dresses are the easiest thing, because if you wear pants, you've got to worry about a top that matches or a jacket.
07:22If you have a dress, you throw on the dress and you're all set to show.
07:24And you can always wear it.
07:25It's definitely tricky, because I think that Holly seems to be a little bit more easygoing than her mother.
07:32Do you design things a lot of animal prints and stuff?
07:35No.
07:35No.
07:36She would buy anything with animals.
07:37Anything.
07:38Oh, really?
07:39Yeah.
07:39Where did you go to school?
07:40School of legal arts.
07:42And what was your major?
07:43Photography.
07:43Avital is looking for something that she can interview in, that she can photograph in.
07:49I carry a lot of equipment, so I definitely, like, I still want it to look professional, but I mean, but I'm rolling around a lot.
07:55And I'm, you know, when she bends down with the camera and things like that, she should be comfortable.
08:02I usually wear pants when I'm shooting.
08:03She seems very interested in the pants, which is not Suede's thing, but she's my client.
08:10And I need to make her happy, so I'm going to have to probably go down that pant road.
08:15And she's very feminine.
08:17Not too feminine.
08:20Are you thinking any silhouettes?
08:22I mean, I have a few things in mind.
08:23You know, I don't want her to lose her identity, and I think that might be a concern for her.
08:27Laura doesn't have a job yet, but she went to school for graphic design, so she'll be interviewing for some positions.
08:34I immediately throw out, like, a skirt suit.
08:36I think it's a professional look.
08:38Well, like, what could we do with the jacket so it still looks like, I mean, I know I'm going to be working, but it's still kind of sexy.
08:43We're going to really make sure that it fits you in the right places.
08:46Designers, time is up, so bid farewell to our mothers and daughters.
08:54Paul, thank you so much.
08:56Bye, guys.
08:57Thank you so much.
08:58Yeah, you guys, thank you.
08:59Bye.
08:59Bye.
09:00All right, designers, we are going shopping.
09:06Go, go, go.
09:08She did say black is one of her favorite colors.
09:11I'm starting to feel like a light jacket.
09:13I get this really funky cotton fabric.
09:15It kind of looks burlap-y, but I'm going to make it work.
09:17I get some leather.
09:18Leather.
09:19And since Stella's gone, I'm the queen of leather now.
09:22Pinstripes.
09:23But not too men's-y looking, you know.
09:24Since I've decided to go with a suit theme, it's really got to come out of a menswear fabric, and I need to twist it from there.
09:31Looks like me.
09:32I know, I know.
09:34I'm going to make the prettiest dress in the world.
09:37I need somebody to cut stuff for me.
09:39Avital's pretty open to all colors, so I'm hoping to find some kind of poochie-esque print with purple.
09:45I need a button.
09:46I need some buttons.
09:47Designers, that is time.
09:48You need to come to the register now.
09:49I did it again.
09:50Perfect.
09:51Bye.
09:52Bye.
09:53Thanks.
09:54We can spread stuff out all over the place.
10:00All right, designers, you have until midnight tonight, and remember you will have all day tomorrow as well.
10:07All right?
10:08Thank you, Tim.
10:09Work hard.
10:10I'll see you later.
10:12Bye.
10:13Bye.
10:14We are the top six.
10:15There's no more immunity.
10:16It just means you're going to have to bring your best foot forward.
10:18You're going to have to really design, and I'm ready for it.
10:20Which girl did she get, Leah?
10:21Her name's Holly.
10:22She's going to be a teacher, so I need to make her look older than a kid.
10:25My outfit for Holly is going to be a dress.
10:26I definitely want to give her a more grown-up look.
10:27My very first job was designing for a small clothing line.
10:55I came to realize that I wanted to have my own clothing line.
10:59What's your girl do, Jo?
11:01She hasn't gotten a job yet.
11:04So she needs to go on interviews.
11:05She needs to go on interviews.
11:06She needs to look super professional.
11:08Yes, exactly.
11:09My first job was working at Gucci,
11:11and I was working in the stock room,
11:12and I'd open up these boxes that would come in from Italy,
11:15and I started to get an affinity for clothing.
11:18I felt like I was bitten by the fashion bug very early on.
11:22Kaylee, what does your girl do?
11:24She's a buyer.
11:25Was she really specific about what she wanted?
11:27She loves vintage, so I'm doing, like, totally vintage.
11:32As soon as I graduated from college, I left Florida,
11:37and I've moved to New York on my own
11:39with zero money in my pocket.
11:41I've been through a lot of jobs,
11:43and I really do feel like I've been through
11:46a lot of obstacles in life,
11:48and I've thought my way through them,
11:50so I'm certainly not going to stop now.
11:55Coming up on Project Runway.
11:57It makes you look flat-chested.
11:58It, like, plants you down.
12:00I'll die if I have to go home.
12:07Where's your yellow neon headband, Jarrell?
12:09Oh, I just have to get into making my garment
12:12before I start doing all sorts of novelty work.
12:13Your accessories.
12:15This is a makeover challenge.
12:17I am really excited,
12:18and I think that I really can do something
12:20that they're just going to love.
12:21So I think we're getting down to the end of this.
12:24The first job I ever had was for McDonald's.
12:27I got all sorts of free Big and Tasty's,
12:29and I got bad skin from standing over a fryer.
12:32I'm just scared about this fabric.
12:34About which fabric?
12:35This.
12:36Girl, you are 178.
12:37Look down the runway.
12:38Megan's actually thinking about going to medical school.
12:41My main concern is trying to fuse together
12:44the jacket and the dress to make them look cohesive.
12:50Wait, did you get that Russian girl?
12:51That kind of punky one?
12:52Yeah, she was cool.
12:53What are you going to do for her?
12:54She needs something really professional.
12:56She's a photographer.
12:57Since I'm not 100% into the pants,
13:00first thing I do is I drape the jacket.
13:03I definitely think that this jacket is going to be hot.
13:07Hey, everybody.
13:09Hi, Ken.
13:11Designers, your clients are here with their mothers, all right?
13:14You will have 30 minutes with them, okay?
13:16So use your time well.
13:18I'm sending them in.
13:24I'm so excited to come.
13:25Oh, cool.
13:26Oh, my God.
13:27Right?
13:28That is beautiful.
13:29I wanted to bring in a little bit of pattern and all that,
13:31but still keep it very kind of androgynous.
13:33So we went sheer here so we could still see the collarbones.
13:35I mean, like, this ruffle is just going to create such a beautiful shape.
13:38Right?
13:39I really lucked out with getting an amazing mother-daughter team,
13:43and it's exactly what they really wanted.
13:45This is very, very mature and, like, professional.
13:48You don't want to be quite so...
13:50So much, yeah.
13:51Can you do the cuff with this?
13:54Oh, it's too much.
13:56I mean, I can.
13:57I just...
13:58I don't know.
13:59What do you think?
14:00I think it could end up looking kind of cheap.
14:01Cheap?
14:02She wants to be a little crazy, so I'm trying to do something in between.
14:07I can't do everything they want and then have the judges say,
14:10well, we've completely lost you.
14:12Where are you in this work?
14:14This was the skirt fabric.
14:16It's real, conventional, professional.
14:18Yeah.
14:19I don't...
14:20I feel...
14:21I don't like this.
14:22But I don't know if I have to just get over it and...
14:24Do you don't like the pinstripe?
14:25No.
14:26Is it too wide?
14:27Or what do you think?
14:28I just don't like pinstripes.
14:29You probably need to do that.
14:30I don't know if there's an error.
14:31You can see it.
14:32Laura immediately says that she doesn't like the pinstripe fabric.
14:36I get a little worried.
14:37I think pinstripes are really a sharp, sophisticated look.
14:41Oh, Laura, I think you're going to look so sharp.
14:43I know very clearly what I want it to look like.
14:45I didn't have a whole lot done,
14:47but I think I could make Laura happy in the final look.
14:51They are very contrasting in texture.
14:53That's mean.
14:54That was the mean that it put in it.
14:56Isn't this print amazing?
14:58I love it.
14:59Wow.
15:00This is so great on you.
15:02I love the belt.
15:03Kenley, she can make one hell of a 50s, 60s dress.
15:08But that's all.
15:09And that's all she serves up.
15:11So cool.
15:12I love this.
15:13I want it.
15:14I don't know.
15:15It makes you look flat chested.
15:17It like plants you down.
15:18Yeah.
15:19I don't know.
15:20And this like comes up so high.
15:22Unfortunately, they don't love it so much.
15:25I think if we tried this on in a store,
15:28we would say we could find something more flattering.
15:32We were all kind of waiting to see who was going to get the head of lettuce in this challenge.
15:37And it seems like it might be Leanne.
15:40Not so great.
15:41Designers, the fitting time is up.
15:45So I'm here to collect your clients.
15:47So ladies, follow me please.
15:49I'm definitely set back time wise.
15:52I have to come up with something that my clients are going to like.
15:57I don't know.
15:58How did that explain?
15:59How did that explain?
16:00She just said if I wanted to make it a little funkier, she would definitely be up for that.
16:06Yeah, because she's got that little funk.
16:08She's like, I'm sure that's more fun for you anyhow.
16:10I'm going to keep the detail, but I'm just going to place it differently.
16:14So I'm going to change it up and I'm going to make it a little bit different.
16:18I cringed for you when I heard them.
16:20Oh Lord, girl did all that work.
16:22I'm going to have to scrap all of that hard work.
16:25At this point in the competition Bryant Park is just right there.
16:30I'll just die if I have to go home.
16:33One sexy teacher dress coming up.
16:38I have draped the top and it's long right now, like a dress.
16:43And I really don't want to do pants.
16:45I'm going to have to sell Avital on the dress idea.
16:48I like it so much better than the pants and it's so much more suede.
16:52I got a lot of work to do on this jacket, but it fit her well in the front.
16:56And then I'm doing a little pocket square so she can add some crazy color.
17:01Do most girls have an assortment of pocket squares at home?
17:04Joe's client is a graphic designer and Joe is making an eighties business suit
17:11with a pocket square.
17:13It's pretty bad.
17:14Henley, may I borrow a pocket square?
17:17Here you go.
17:20Oh, thank you.
17:22Perfect little pocket square.
17:24That's perfect.
17:26Jarell likes to make fun of everybody to make himself look good.
17:30Opinions are a little bit like, I won't say that.
17:34Come on Joe.
17:36You're going to work on Nancy Reagan tomorrow.
17:38Wait till we can fix the apartment.
17:42Where's your pocket square?
17:44Oh my God.
17:45Coming up on Project Runway.
17:47He's not a good designer.
17:48He can't interpret his style into different looks.
17:51I don't understand his aesthetic.
17:53That's horrible.
17:55Good morning everybody.
18:11Morning Sam.
18:12I'm Tim.
18:13Designers, your clients are here for a second fitting.
18:16And I'm sending them in, okay?
18:17Okay.
18:18What's going on?
18:21Are your moms here?
18:23No, our moms aren't here.
18:24Really?
18:25No.
18:26How's the sleeve feel?
18:27Good.
18:28It's not hemmed yet.
18:29Now that the outfit is coming along, I think Laura is getting a little bit more excited.
18:33I think the blazer is what's going to really set this garment off.
18:37I want to show the judges that fit and tailoring is something that I can do very well.
18:44Okay, yeah, that's pretty.
18:45Yeah, and it's age appropriate still.
18:47We can practice just the whole look and all that.
18:50Practice not falling on my face.
18:52So I changed the top of the dress entirely.
18:55Can I take the jacket off?
18:57Yeah, yeah.
18:58I love it.
18:59Do you?
19:00Yes.
19:01Holly really loves the dress and loves the changes that I've made.
19:04It's absolutely a sigh of relief.
19:07The back is awesome.
19:08Yeah, it's gorgeous.
19:09Would you wear it as a dress?
19:11Yes.
19:12Instead of the pants?
19:13Yes.
19:14Avital has fallen in love with the dress idea and agrees to scrap the pants.
19:19Bonus!
19:23I think Tim has to say.
19:24Designers and ladies, may I ask you to gather round, please?
19:28Gather rounds are never a good thing.
19:30I'm just hoping we don't have to create a look for the girls' mothers
19:33because I will jump out the window.
19:36I have a special guest I'd like to introduce.
19:44Hello, Tim.
19:45How are you?
19:46Hey, guys.
19:47Hi.
19:49Please welcome Jeannie Saifu, lead stylist for the Tresemme Hair Care Creative Team.
19:54Jeannie, welcome to Parsons, the New School for Gazelle.
19:56Thank you so much, Tim.
19:57It's so great to be here.
19:58Jeannie is here to consult with you about the hairstyles for your makeovers.
20:02So hairstyle today is a key element for today's makeover.
20:06It's all about head-to-toe transformations.
20:09So I'm here to help you guys talk about haircuts, color, and styling.
20:13And Jeannie has a special announcement to make.
20:16Yes.
20:17The winning look is going in Elle magazine.
20:23So one of you young ladies will be part of that.
20:26Be part of that.
20:27Yes.
20:28Let's do it.
20:29You know, I think soft is a better way to go.
20:32I think for the suit, it would look more polished.
20:35This stuff is so dead.
20:36It really needs cut.
20:37No.
20:38My boyfriend actually really just wants me to keep my hair long, and he's never said anything about my hair before.
20:41Shorter is still playful.
20:43It's not, you know.
20:44How short we come?
20:45I'm just thinking here.
20:46Yeah.
20:47Right?
20:48Yeah.
20:49I was thinking like rich coppery color.
20:51Bold slices all the way through so it breaks up the texture so you can see the shape.
20:55Yeah.
20:56If we knock out these corners here, it's just going to make all of this lay flatter and softer.
21:01Maybe just a slight asymmetry so it sweeps over.
21:04Side swipe, definitely.
21:05Longer layers so it doesn't look so thinned out.
21:08Don't make it too red.
21:09No, no, no.
21:10It's not going to be like bright red.
21:11I'll see you soon.
21:12All right.
21:13Bye.
21:14Bye.
21:20Hi, everybody.
21:21Hi, Tim.
21:22Hey, Tim.
21:23It's Wade.
21:24Hey.
21:25I mean, I know it's different from what I've typically done, but it's why I'm here to do different things.
21:29The only issue that I have is the pockets.
21:32They're not on the same line here, do you see?
21:35Mm-hmm.
21:36It looks a little sloppy.
21:38And also, are the sleeve lengths the same?
21:40I definitely measured everything.
21:42Do you see, though?
21:43Just look where they hit.
21:44As you know, it's all going to show.
21:46I know.
21:47All right, Suede.
21:49Thanks, Tim.
21:50Hi, Joe.
21:51Hi, Tim.
21:52How are you?
21:53I'm good.
21:54How are you doing?
21:55Good, good.
21:56I decided to put a treatment on the end of it just so that it doesn't look so much like a men's blazer.
21:59The relevance of this look for her just says lawyer, banker, not graphic designer.
22:05I wasn't relating so much to the, you know, necessarily the field.
22:11But that's everything.
22:13That's the field she's entering as a professional.
22:16Yeah, I'm really not that concerned with Tim saying it doesn't look like a graphic designer.
22:21Because really, in the end, I feel that this challenge requires the garment to look professional.
22:27All right, Joe.
22:28We have a lot of work to do.
22:29All right, thank you.
22:30Okay, thank you.
22:31Thanks.
22:32Hi, Jarrell.
22:33Hey, Tim.
22:34How's it going?
22:35Talk to me.
22:36Like, seriously, the outfit looks amazing on her.
22:37You can tell she feels beautiful when she puts it on.
22:39I think it's really stunning.
22:42How are you dealing with the excess fabric in here?
22:44It's going to be a little blousey.
22:46All right, Jarrell, just watch every centimeter of it.
22:51I certainly will.
22:53Okay.
22:54Henley.
22:55Hi, Tim.
22:56Talk to me.
22:57She loves it.
22:58Without the belt, this becomes much more masculine looking.
23:00Right.
23:01It looks like men's wear.
23:02Professional.
23:03Compared to the dress, which is very girly in its own way.
23:06Can I also add the tulle?
23:09It could be the same length as this dress, and the dress would still be adorable.
23:14I'm just saying that because it gives you another option.
23:16Tim doesn't really understand me as a designer.
23:19He wanted me to think about the tulle showing.
23:22He was telling me that it might be okay that none of it shows.
23:26I'm not going to listen to that.
23:28Thank you, Kenley.
23:29I never really change anything for Tim.
23:32All right, designers.
23:34You have until midnight tonight.
23:36Use your time well.
23:37I will see you tomorrow.
23:39All right.
23:40Thanks, everybody.
23:44My daughter already knows.
23:45Both of them already know what they want, what they don't like.
23:48But usually if I wear something, she'll want it.
23:51So that's good.
23:52To still be kind of hip in her eyes, I guess, in her little four-year-old eyes.
23:55Do you make her stuff?
23:57I've made her a couple of things.
23:59I'm actually excited about this challenge.
24:01I have made a lot of clothes to my daughter.
24:03It's funny because she has a fashion sense already at four.
24:06She's always in my clothes and my shoes and my high heels.
24:09She likes to be like mom.
24:10So it starts early.
24:12Oh, trust me.
24:13I know.
24:14You daughters and mothers.
24:15I can't even imagine my baby being 21.
24:17I'm scared of teenage years.
24:19God forbid, 21.
24:20Let's just do baby steps.
24:22This whole challenge, you're never going to agree for both of them to agree.
24:27Because if the mother likes it, the daughter doesn't going to like it.
24:29Yeah.
24:30Seeing, you know, the moms and daughters makes me miss my family a great deal.
24:35Hey.
24:36Hey.
24:37Hi.
24:38How are you?
24:39How are you?
24:40I'm good.
24:41Let me talk to the girls.
24:43Hi, Dad.
24:44I miss you so much.
24:46I miss you more.
24:47I miss you more.
24:48My main motivation to be on this show is to show my daughters that their dreams aren't
24:57bigger than they are.
24:58There's nothing and nobody telling you you can't do or be anything that you want to be.
25:03I'm proof of that.
25:04I love you too.
25:06I like it much better as a dress.
25:17I mean, that's what I do, dresses.
25:19I'm not so into the whole pants thing.
25:21So, who's going home tomorrow, guys?
25:24Suede.
25:25Suede?
25:26Ugh.
25:27I think his girl is going to like...
25:28Audition for the role of Selena.
25:30Selena with the flared sleeves.
25:33That's why he's not a good designer.
25:35Because he can't interpret his style into different looks.
25:38I think that Suede is a poser.
25:40I don't understand his aesthetic as a designer.
25:43It's horrible.
25:44It's horrible.
25:45It's horrible.
26:00Hi, designers.
26:01Hi, Tim.
26:02How is everybody?
26:03Good.
26:04How are you?
26:05I'm great.
26:07We have a big day.
26:08Yes.
26:09I am sending in your clients.
26:10You have an hour to send them to the Tresemme hair salon in the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
26:14I'm sending in your clients.
26:15Come in, ladies.
26:19So, let's get you dressed.
26:21We can even try it with just two of them buttons.
26:24There's been some question about, you know, you're a graphic designer.
26:28And so, is a suit maybe too formal and all that.
26:32But I think...
26:33What a job's a job.
26:34I think the look is professional and it represents who I am as a designer.
26:38I think I nailed the look.
26:40Perfect.
26:41That looks great.
26:42Are you sure?
26:43You have been practicing.
26:44Are you sure?
26:45Yeah, that looks really good.
26:46I think your makeup's ready.
26:48Miniature can lay.
26:52I'm gonna do some really shattered layers.
26:54I'm ready.
26:55Yeah.
27:03It's never been this awesome.
27:05I want her to look very professional.
27:08She just got promoted.
27:12I plan for us to win.
27:17Designers?
27:18Yes?
27:19In ten minutes, you and your clients and I will walk down to the runway.
27:23Okay?
27:24I'll be back.
27:26You look super cute.
27:27Like, it's...
27:28Like, your mom's probably gonna cry.
27:29I know that you love it, but I was like, I hope her mom...
27:32She's gonna love it.
27:33She's gonna be like, oh my god.
27:34Make sure there's gonna be a mirror, so just check yourself.
27:37Like, you're going to an interview that you want to look great for.
27:40I'm not quite sure exactly what's Wade's thinking with his little outfit.
27:44It just reads, so 1992.
27:46Ooh.
27:47That is going to work against you, my man.
27:50Designers and clients, it's time to go down to the runway, alright?
27:54So, follow me, please.
27:57Do you feel that it's a little bit looser?
27:58It feels looser, yeah.
27:59Okay, good.
28:00It feels good.
28:01I'm feeling really confident about my design.
28:03I wasn't impressed with anyone.
28:05I know I'm gonna be in the top three.
28:07I should.
28:09Kato.
28:10Alright, I'm coming.
28:11And Leigh.
28:12I'm coming.
28:13Alright, thank you everyone.
28:16Coming up on Project Runway.
28:18She's gotta look professional.
28:19Ha!
28:20It's the total cliche.
28:21I will say no more.
28:22Hello.
28:23Hi.
28:24Hey Heidi.
28:25Welcome to the runway.
28:26As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
28:37For this challenge, you had to create a new head-to-toe look for recent college graduates
28:43who are starting their lives as independent professional women.
28:46And we have some special guests today who are here to see their daughters walk the runway.
28:51So designers, for your sake, I hope you've done some amazing work.
28:56Okay, let's meet the judges.
29:00First, we have top American designer, Michael Kors.
29:03Hey everyone.
29:04Hi.
29:05Nina Garcia, editor-at-large for Elle Magazine.
29:07Hi.
29:08Hi.
29:09And fashion designer, Cynthia Raleigh.
29:12Hi.
29:13Hey.
29:14We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
29:17The winner of this challenge will have their look featured in a tresemme ad in Elle Magazine.
29:22And one of you will be out.
29:26Let's start the show.
29:32I'm definitely confident in my designs.
29:34It shows somebody who's professional, smart, has some sense about fashion.
29:39Janet felt that her daughter looked like a beautiful, mature, young adult.
29:48Holly looked so sophisticated.
29:51She wanted to look a little bit more grown up to make a distinction between the children and the teacher.
30:00Holly and her mother, Elle, seemed really happy with it.
30:04Again, I picked the nail right on the head.
30:10She looks beautiful.
30:12It's definitely a look that you really can wear to go find a job.
30:16Caitlin and Ellen both have smiles on their faces.
30:19Ta-da!
30:20I did exactly what I set out to do.
30:22The biggest challenge with my garment was trying to fuse together the jacket and the dress.
30:30I believe I've done that.
30:32I didn't take this challenge literally.
30:34She's 21, so her outfit reflects that.
30:37Avital is a photographer, so I really wanted to give her that artistic piece she's asking for.
30:50You can see her pride in this outfit and her makeover as she comes down the runway.
30:55She's definitely happy.
30:59Nancy thinks Anna looks so adorable.
31:02I love the dress and Anna loves it.
31:05It really is going to look good on her at her new job as a buyer.
31:13Okay, we've scored your designs.
31:15Moms, I hope you enjoyed the show.
31:17And I'm going to ask you to leave now so we can get down to business.
31:21Bye.
31:22Designers, please step onto the runway.
31:24One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
31:35Let's bring out your clients.
31:46Okay, Kenley, tell us about your look.
31:48I liked Anna's style to begin with.
31:50She likes to have fun with fashion.
31:53And I just wanted her to look fun and fresh and cute.
31:57And I think it would be a really cute look for Elle magazine too.
32:01You found a little mini me.
32:05She's probably thinking finally I can dress someone exactly like me.
32:09It was really fun.
32:11We had very similar styles.
32:13I think it's a charming dress.
32:15I think it says fashion.
32:16I think it's cute.
32:18Thanks.
32:20I think it's cute too.
32:22I like the belt a lot.
32:24And I like it with the vest.
32:26It's a little fairytale, but maybe that's okay.
32:29Oh, that's okay.
32:31It's the right clothes and the right style for the job that you're doing.
32:36Good job.
32:40Joe, tell us about your look.
32:41I took the challenge as truly taking a young girl and giving her an outfit that she can go to interviews in that makes her look smart and very professional.
32:53It's just interesting that you feel like to be professional that it has to be a suit.
32:58I just think there's so many other options.
33:01Can we take it off? Can we see what it looks like?
33:04What about you, Laura? Do you like it?
33:08I like it better without the jacket.
33:10It's like a 60-year-old person's idea of, like, she's got to look professional, so I'm going to put her in pinstripes and a shirt with a pocket square.
33:18The biggest problem that I have with this, Joe, is that it's the total cliche of what a work outfit should be.
33:28Okay.
33:30Okay, let's move on to Kato.
33:33My client's name is Megan. She's actually considering going to medical school.
33:38First thing she told me is that she loves every shade of green.
33:41She wanted me to make sure I had something fun.
33:44And I thought I could try to keep it 21. She is 21.
33:48She looks current. It looks like a girl today of 21 would dress.
33:53Megan, how do you like your look?
33:55I love it. I feel great in it.
33:56I think the jacket is really cool.
34:01I think it looks very well made, modern, young, yet professional.
34:07Leanne?
34:09My client is Holly, and she's currently in the process of interviewing and applying for teaching jobs.
34:16What is underneath that jacket?
34:18Um, well, she wanted a dress.
34:21Oh.
34:23Well, that is a much-needed relief.
34:25The dress is certainly more charming without the jacket.
34:28Holly's got a big smile, a lot of personality.
34:31And the cutest body.
34:32And you've got, like, this adorable little body, and it's like, embrace it.
34:37How old are your students?
34:39They're elementary school age.
34:41I see my kids' teachers, and they wear, like, really casual but comfortable stuff because they're with the kids and they're doing things.
34:49She can look sophisticated but youthful.
34:55Jerelle?
34:56My client was Caitlyn, who I absolutely love, and she's kind of into this androgynous thing.
35:01So I pitched the idea of, like, pairing it with a cardigan that's maybe a little bit more masculine, and she loved it.
35:05I think that you look really great.
35:08I love your hair.
35:09I love this look.
35:11You're hired.
35:12Yay.
35:14For her body type especially, I think this looks great.
35:18I like the juxtaposition of that casualness of the oversized cardigan, yet the very frilly blouse.
35:25She looks great.
35:27Caitlyn, how was it working with Jerelle?
35:28It was great from the beginning.
35:29It made me feel pretty.
35:31You are pretty, girl.
35:32So that made it even better.
35:36Sweet.
35:38Well, my client is Avital, and Avital is a photographer, so she wanted a look that would be strong and artistic.
35:44Again, it's like the gratuitous jacket that doesn't really work with the dress.
35:51In a zillion years, I would never guess that you were gonna tell me photographer.
35:57She also wanted something that could go day to evenings.
35:59I say just change your clothes before you go out.
36:02I don't like this kind of printed dresses with this shape of a jacket.
36:08I have a lot of problems with this, basically.
36:11I, you know, that's just the tip of the ice.
36:14I will say no more.
36:15Ouch.
36:18Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
36:21We're gonna have a little chat, and then I'm gonna call you back.
36:23You can leave the runway.
36:25Let's talk with the ones that we liked.
36:40Jor-El.
36:41He transformed her.
36:42If you look at the before.
36:43Yeah.
36:44Compared to the...
36:45It's a new girl.
36:46Yeah.
36:47You want there to be sophistication that's not old.
36:51That was a 22-year-old's idea of sophistication today.
36:56Another one that we liked was Ken Lee.
36:59Ken Lee has the ability to really find interesting prints, interesting patterns.
37:06They're very whimsical, and she does them very well.
37:09And even though it is going back in time, it worked on her.
37:14How did she like Kato?
37:16I happen to think she put a lot of work in the jacket.
37:19It was the most perfectly tailored of any of the jackets we saw today.
37:24That jacket could have been really expensive.
37:30Okay, let's talk about the ones we have problems with.
37:33Suede.
37:34Suede.
37:35That jacket was shocking to me.
37:37When she told us that she's a photographer, I mean, come on.
37:42She seriously looks 20 years older.
37:46Yeah, 20 years older, but from another decade.
37:49It's just a disaster.
37:53What about Leigh-Anne?
37:54There wasn't anything about it that felt fresh.
37:57I understand that she has to look authoritative.
38:00That doesn't mean she has to look frumpy, though.
38:02It's really old-fashioned.
38:06So what did you guys think about Jo?
38:08Jo seems really out of touch.
38:11She looked so uncomfortable.
38:13And it also looked really badly done.
38:16Full Becky homecky.
38:17Nothing contemporary.
38:18Once again, talk about a time capsule.
38:21You could almost seriously wear that and go to, like, a working girl party.
38:25Jo did the cliché.
38:28So we've made our decision.
38:31Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:33The six of you represent the best and the worst.
38:45One of you will be named the winner.
38:47And one of you will be out.
38:48One of you will be named the winner.
38:49And one of you will be out.
38:50Kato, you're in.
38:52And now for the winner.
38:53Congratulations.
38:54Jerelle.
38:55Jerelle.
38:56Jerelle.
38:57Jerelle.
38:58You are the winner of this challenge.
39:01Jerelle.
39:02And your look will be featured in a Tresemme ad in our magazine.
39:06And one of you will be out.
39:07Kato, you're in.
39:09And now for the winner.
39:10Congratulations.
39:11Jerelle.
39:12You are the winner of this challenge.
39:27Jerelle.
39:28I really appreciate it.
39:29Good job.
39:30You can use the runway.
39:33Thank you guys.
39:34It feels amazing to be the winner of this challenge.
39:39Yay.
39:40No.
39:41I mean, the opportunity to have my look featured in an L magazine.
39:46That is killer.
39:47And the fact that it's my second win.
39:49Hell yeah.
39:50Ken Lee.
39:51Good work.
39:52You can use the runway.
39:53Thanks.
39:54Leanne.
39:55You're in.
39:57You can use the runway.
39:58Come on.
39:59Come on.
40:00Come on.
40:01Come on.
40:02Come on.
40:03Joe.
40:04Suede.
40:05One of you will be out.
40:06Joe.
40:07You took a beautiful girl and aged her 20 years ago.
40:08You're in.
40:10You can use the runway.
40:11Come on.
40:12Come on.
40:13Come on.
40:14Come on.
40:15Come on.
40:16Come on.
