00:00of a lifetime. The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in
00:04Marie Claire magazine, an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com, a $50,000
00:09technology suite to create, design and run their business from HP and Intel, and
00:14$100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to launch their line.
00:21Look at that empty bed. I wasn't too surprised that Ping was sent home because she'd been in the
00:28bottom three before, and at this point, I'm sort of bonding with Janine. She's my
00:32last roommate left. It's hard to bond with people really though because we're all
00:37competing against each other.
00:41So as I move into the fourth challenge, I'm really, really excited to still be in
00:46this competition. I do really want my dream to come true. I want to make it a
00:50Bryan Park, and I think that I'm actually already showing the judges that I'm
00:53capable of designing a Macy's stuff. So are you nervous to make a comeback from the
00:59bottom of the barrel? It wasn't my fault we're in the bottom. I feel like I really
01:03just need to get everything from the last challenge out of my mind and really just
01:07approach this one fresh. I think I can hopefully just come out strong and get
01:11myself out of that bottom area. I miss my dog so much. Me too. I feel like I'm a little
01:18buddy with Mila because we're similar in a lot of ways. She's kind of like the older
01:22version of me, which is kind of funny. Like we wear a lot of the same colors and
01:25we kind of have similar personalities. But, you know, of course, she's
01:29competition because we have similar styles.
01:34I'm not that I'm where you are. I don't know why you're dating so well.
01:37Ladies.
01:38My apartment.
01:48Hello.
01:49Hi.
01:50Mila, you won the last challenge.
01:52And that is going to give you immunity. And you cannot be eliminated.
01:56Yay.
01:57For your next challenge, you will be designing a look for a Fashion Week gala.
02:02Woo!
02:05And Tim is waiting for you to fill in on all the details. He will also introduce you to
02:10a group of very inspiring women. Good luck, and I see you on the runway.
02:16Heidi, she's very vague, but she says you will be working with very inspirational women.
02:21And that just, that leaves it open for anything.
02:27Good morning, designers. Good morning, Tim.
02:29I am delighted to introduce you to Lisa Walker, Vice President of Innovation for Campbell's
02:34Soup Company.
02:35Campbell's is proud to team up with the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement
02:40to create signature Campbell red dresses for our Campbell's Address Your Heart program.
02:43These dresses have been worn by top celebrities at the Red Dress Awards during Fashion Week.
02:49And this gala is designed to honor women who have been personally impacted by this disease.
02:53So designers, with that in mind, your challenge is to create this year's signature dress for
02:58the Campbell's Address Your Heart program. And in keeping with tradition, red must be a
03:02prominent color in your dress, and the Campbell branding must be present.
03:07All right.
03:08Lisa has very kindly provided us with Campbell branded fabric that you can use in your dress
03:11if you choose, or you can create your own brand elements using supplemental fabric or a combination
03:17of both.
03:18And there is one more very exciting dimension to this challenge. You will be designing for
03:24a very inspiring group of women. Let's meet them.
03:35I want you to know that each of these amazing women has in some form or another been impacted
03:39by heart disease. And the winning design will be worn by one of these amazing ladies to the
03:45Red Dress Awards during New York Fashion Week. And the winning designer will accompany their
03:50muse to the event.
03:55I'm just so excited. It's already feeling very emotional. And if there was one challenge that I could win
04:02besides making it to the final three, this would be it. If we get to go to the gala event during
04:07Fashion Week, it would really mean the world to me.
04:09And the winning design will be put into limited production and sold on projectrunway.com to benefit
04:16the American Heart Association.
04:20Our models for this challenge have been randomly assigned to us. I'm a little nervous, but I'm
04:25actually excited to be able to work with a real woman.
04:28Designers, I'm going to send you into the workroom with your new models. You will have 30 minutes to have a discussion and to sketch your design idea. Then we are going shopping at Mood. Okay? Take it away!
04:41Our models are all women impacted by heart disease. These women have overcome so much and suffered so much that this challenge instantly becomes very personally important to all the designers.
04:54So what's your story?
04:55My heart stops. Apparently it stops whenever I get dehydrated, I get too hot, I stand for too long.
05:02At the top of my heart can communicate with the bottom. So the pacemaker basically is running the entire time.
05:09I have two kids. I'm married for 34 years.
05:12Julie, she's an amazing woman. I mean, we started talking about how she died for two minutes. I've never met anyone in my whole entire life who died and came back to life. To hear a story like that, it's just so inspiring.
05:26Oh my God. So you're going to make me pretty because I survived, right?
05:36You know what I would like to design? Something classy or sassy.
05:39My biggest challenge is coming up with something that's going to flatter her body and still read theme dress, gala, not something you can buy off the rack.
05:47I can do a really good detail where this fabric is pleated. That way you have the Campbell hair.
05:54I'm really excited because she's really, really tiny and I'm going to make her a fitted dress, which is what she wants.
06:01Love it. Love it.
06:02We could do something that's like a V-neckline.
06:05You want a long dress? Okay. More of like a chiffon, like a silky flowing dress. You like? Okay.
06:12Well, I'm just going to do a cutout of a star.
06:15Okay.
06:16I decide with my model actually that we're going to use the star icon because it is present on the Campbell soup can.
06:23I kind of like the idea of maybe it being like right at your knee.
06:27Okay.
06:28I'm open.
06:29Okay.
06:30I'm open.
06:31Okay.
06:32I know that I have immunity, but it doesn't make me want to work any less.
06:35And wow, if I can win another one, two in a row, why not?
06:39I want it to be youthful and I want it to be elegant, you know, at the same time.
06:43So Caitlin really likes the idea of doing a cutout back and doing something sexy and fresh.
06:48So it's going to have the structure that I'm usually doing, but it'll have a little bit more of an elegance to it.
06:54You are hilarious.
06:58She's been dealing with hypertension for so long.
07:01And just to know that I can make her feel special in this moment.
07:05That meant a lot to me because I had to move my mother with me to Georgia because she just got out of heart surgery.
07:13I mean, people don't know what you go through.
07:16I know.
07:17Like when my mom came out of heart surgery, I was like, oh my God.
07:23I know what it's like to have someone who's gone through complications with their heart.
07:28And it is no thing to take for granted.
07:31Well, like I said, you use me as the model, but you use your mom as the inspiration.
07:36You're right.
07:37Okay, Tish, I don't like tears, so clean them up.
07:40We cannot be in here crying.
07:42What can you do to that girl?
07:45Designers, it's time to say farewell to your models, only temporarily.
07:50It's going to be wonderful.
07:51I'm excited about this dress.
07:53I know you will.
07:54Thank you so much.
07:55We'll see you later.
07:56All right, designers, grab whatever you need.
07:59We're going to Mood.
08:04All right, designers, I have your $100 budget.
08:07Around Mood, you will find bins filled with red fabric that is within the brand color story.
08:12But you're not limited to these fabrics.
08:14All right, everybody, 30 minutes.
08:16Your time starts now.
08:17Jen and I are on the same page, and she loves her legs and her shoulders.
08:24So we're doing a really cute, flirty cocktail dress in a beautiful, fiery red.
08:31I mean, does this look cheap to you?
08:33This looks awfully Valentine's Day.
08:34I decided to go with a jacket, and it needs to be a nice fabric.
08:37I can't go with something cheap.
08:38I can't go with something cheap.
08:39No, I don't have enough money for that.
08:41Put your jersey, jersey, pink.
08:42No.
08:43What do you miss?
08:44I have to get my boney.
08:47All right, designers, that's time.
08:49Time is up.
08:50Everyone needs to be in line.
08:51You're at 96.43.
08:53Good?
08:54Awesome.
08:55Thank you, Mood.
08:56Thank you, Mood.
09:05Hi, everybody.
09:06Hi, Tim.
09:07You have until midnight tonight.
09:09A little bit of time tomorrow, but very little.
09:12So this is a one-day challenge.
09:14These women are not 34, 25, 35.
09:18So to make a gala-worthy gown in 10 hours is daunting.
09:23Thank you, everyone.
09:24Make it work.
09:25I know you will.
09:28I'm self-taught as a fashion designer, but I just spent four years studying printmaking,
09:33and I'm tracing the Campbell's logo onto red chiffon.
09:37It's something that'll be different.
09:38It'll set me aside from everyone else.
09:41My model and I are really attracted to the shape of the heart, and we wanted to use that,
09:46but not in a very literal sense so the dress wouldn't look to Valentine's Day, but in more of an abstract form on the dress to represent the cause.
09:55I am more stressed than usual.
09:57You know, she's going to be walking down a runway for the first time, and the last thing I want is for her to feel unattractive.
10:04So it's a lot of pressure.
10:06The models are size four, size six, you know, stuff we do every day.
10:10We don't even have to make a pattern. We can cut that blindfolded.
10:13This is honestly the largest challenge that I've ever faced as a designer.
10:22Coming up on Project Online.
10:24Oh, shoot!
10:25There's a bucket of water right here, and I just dipped my dress in it.
10:29Everyone is going to have to really pull something out of a bag, because we are all press for time.
10:34I want my money.
10:36Three facets of this challenge is that, A, we're designing for real women.
10:49B, red has to be our predominant color in our design.
10:52And C, we have to somehow incorporate Campbell's branding into our design.
10:57Three very difficult things to do.
10:59So we're not like totally disgusting, right?
11:01That's beautiful. I like the lines.
11:03Oh, shoot!
11:05The fabric is alive. It literally moves and has a line of its own.
11:11Every time I cut it or sew it, it's a different shape.
11:14I don't even know what the front or back is at this point.
11:16Guess there will be a seam there.
11:18These are going to be double and then understitch underneath the other side.
11:23When I met Julie, I said to myself, I need to make her look taller.
11:28So design that I had in mind, there's a lot of vertical lines going on.
11:32So I'm hoping, you know, that it's going to work for her.
11:35How's it going?
11:36How's it going?
11:37How are you?
11:38Good.
11:39Can you hold that right there?
11:40Nadine comes in and, you know, I'm still working on the chiffon, but it's not even attached together to put on the dress yet.
11:46I hope that she's not too nervous or at least not as nervous as I am.
11:50It's looking good.
11:53I'm excited because I think I'm satisfying one of my primary goals, which is to create an empowering experience for Stephanie.
11:59Oh, impressive.
12:01There you go.
12:02Slide your other arm over there.
12:04So Jen comes back, far-fitting, and I'm glad I didn't cut yet because there were parts that I needed to adjust and pieces I need to extend and tuck.
12:12Many people are just not accustomed to using anything besides model-sized women.
12:17And these women represent all different shapes and sizes.
12:21You're going to rock this dress.
12:24You're going to work it.
12:25We rock it.
12:26You're so talented.
12:28The dress is exactly what we said we were going to do this morning.
12:31Amazing.
12:32Your mommy will be proud.
12:34She will be proud.
12:35Yeah?
12:36Me, my twin brother, and my other brother grew up with having a single mother, so it's really, really rough.
12:40But my past has made me so passionate about what I want to do, which is fashion because it's taking me so far already.
12:46And, I mean, there's so many more years to come.
12:49I'm happy here.
12:50I mean, all of this makes me happy.
12:51It's just the front.
12:52This is why we're here.
12:53Let's talk about it.
12:54Yeah.
12:55I mean, other than that, it's gorgeous.
12:57Sweet, sweet Rose.
12:58I love Rose.
12:59She started going into what I was thinking, and she started talking about Grecian, draping, and pintuck.
13:06And I've done a few of those, but it's really not known as my style.
13:10Oh, I love it so much.
13:12Okay.
13:13I really, really do.
13:14Bottom line is I want to make Rose happy.
13:16She's been through a lot of .
13:17The doctor just said, hey, how long have you had a heart murmur?
13:20And I just looked at the doctor and said, excuse me?
13:23Designing for somebody specifically that I can meet and speak with is actually quite helpful because I can get inspired by Beth's personality.
13:34I really want to bring that out in what she's wearing.
13:37You know, I need to put Beth in this dress.
13:39It's amazing.
13:40Would you really, like, look at me and think I had open heart surgery?
13:42Seriously?
13:43No, no.
13:44For a lot of the women here today?
13:45It is so cute on you.
13:47It's amazing.
13:48A lot of these women that are still happy and smiling and can motivate us.
13:53It definitely put a spin on the competition for me because prior to this challenge, it was all about me, me, me, me, me, me, me.
14:02But after meeting the ladies, you realize that there are greater things in this world than just winning a challenge.
14:09Good luck.
14:10Thank you, sweetie.
14:11I'm sweating.
14:12I'm so sorry.
14:13Great. Bye.
14:25There's a bucket of water right here and I just dipped my dress in it.
14:29Of course my dress takes a dunk in a bucket of water.
14:33Can't do anything with me?
14:34Of course.
14:35Of course.
14:36Because I'm Janine.
14:37This happens to me.
14:38But I have to make this work.
14:40So moving on, you know?
14:46Hello, Tim.
14:47How is everyone?
14:48We're good.
14:49You're doing well?
14:50Yes, sir.
14:51All right.
14:52Well, I want to check in with you.
14:53Okay.
14:54And see for myself.
14:55Okay.
14:56Hey.
14:57How's it going?
14:58Good.
14:59How's it going for you?
15:00I want to keep it real simple.
15:01She's got a real full figure and I want to just try to slim her and heighten her.
15:05And then I'm going to do a jacket and it's basically this shape and it'll come down lower
15:11and the sweetheart neckline will pop out from it.
15:13Without this jacket, I don't think you have very much in terms of fashion.
15:17Stop telling me that.
15:18But it's true.
15:19Anna.
15:20Hi, Tim.
15:21How are you?
15:22I'm challenged to break up sort of her body shape visually so that it compliments her
15:28figure.
15:29And then this, I started going in this direction because I wanted to.
15:32What is that?
15:33I just traced with a pen the detailing.
15:36Oh.
15:37So I wanted to do something that was a little more subtle.
15:39Nice.
15:40Actually.
15:41So Mila, how are you doing?
15:44Hey there, Tim.
15:45I'm using red and ivory taffeta.
15:47Oh, I like this with the stars.
15:49The star wraps around the back and I actually think it's going to be flattering.
15:53And you had a fitting.
15:54How did it go?
15:55Yes.
15:56She's a really tough fit.
15:57Well, frankly, I'm glad that we have an opportunity to work with real women for just this reason
16:02because it's a good lesson.
16:03And there's a strategy too to, you know, with proportion and the shape.
16:07You're doing it.
16:08And the shape.
16:09Jesus, so talk to me.
16:10Okay, so I have Trisha.
16:12Mm-hmm.
16:13She said she wanted something really fitting and she wanted to show her cleavage.
16:16So I did a...
16:17You've done both.
16:18And then I incorporated the fabric, which I think I did pretty well because it doesn't
16:22cheap.
16:23Mm-hmm.
16:24She absolutely loves it.
16:25It fits her really good.
16:26Oh, good.
16:27So you got her into it.
16:28Yeah.
16:29Hi, Maya.
16:30Hello.
16:31Talk to me.
16:32I wanted to embrace sort of the heart shape.
16:33I see it.
16:34Yeah.
16:35But I don't know if I'll have time, but I really wanted to make a cocktail purse with
16:39the Campbell's print.
16:40I'd do it.
16:41Yeah.
16:42So how's Amy?
16:43I'm still trying to get the foundation done.
16:46I'm really concerned about fit with this challenge just because I want her to feel really
16:50comfortable and like it's fitting her correctly.
16:52I wanted to leave her left side open.
16:54She has a scar here that, you know, she used to hide and now she kind of is proud of going
16:59through what she's gone.
17:00Good.
17:01So I kind of want to focus on...
17:02It's a badge of courage.
17:03...exposing that, absolutely.
17:04Yeah.
17:05Work away here.
17:06Okay.
17:07Okay.
17:08Thank you, Amy.
17:09Thanks, Tim.
17:10Seth Aaron, when did you go Grecian on us?
17:11Two hours ago.
17:12What happened?
17:13I have Rose.
17:14She flipped out over it.
17:15I said, I want to make her happy.
17:17I don't dislike this.
17:18I think it has a beautiful, graceful elegance.
17:21But if someone gave me a quiz and asked me which designer in this room this belonged
17:25to, you'd probably be the last one on the list.
17:27I could see that.
17:29It shouldn't compromise who you are as a designer because in the end who you're really
17:34pleasing are the judges.
17:36Right.
17:37I'm not advancing the plot here.
17:38I'm going to let you get back to work.
17:40All right, designers, I'm going to leave you for the night and I fully expect when
17:47I walk in here tomorrow that everything will be done.
17:49Yeah.
17:50Okay, Tim.
17:51Okay.
17:52Thank you all.
17:59Tim gives me his critique and I thought for a second, I can't lose myself within the client
18:05and not represent myself on the runway.
18:08So I grabbed that Grecian gown and I tear it off the mannequin and say, I got two and
18:13a half hours before, for the end of the day, I'm going to give it my all and make it happen.
18:21I want my mommy.
18:23I think Anna is going to have an issue with her garment.
18:26Just the overall construction and Jay's dress is really, I don't know what it is.
18:32It's a train wreck.
18:35I think everyone is going to have to really pull something out of a bag because we are
18:40all pressed for time.
18:41Nobody's done.
18:42I'm in bad shape.
18:43I have a lot of work to do still.
18:45Everybody's kind of in the same place.
18:47I only expect us to make an evening gown in one day.
18:51People are kind of freaking out.
18:53I don't know how to freak yourself.
18:54Do you see me?
19:01Coming up on Project Runway.
19:03Go, go, go.
19:04Everyone's running.
19:05Everyone's grabbing irons.
19:06This is definitely a fashion emergency of Chernobyl proportions.
19:10These women have gone through enough.
19:18The last thing you want to put them through is, ma'am, not only did you survive heart disease,
19:23now you have to survive Nina and Michael Kors and Heidi Klum telling you how horrible I have
19:28made you look in this garment.
19:30Yeah, exactly.
19:31I did everything at a quarter instead of a half, even though I patterned it at a half.
19:35I have a lot to get done.
19:37Yeah, you do.
19:38It'll be amazing if I can pull it off.
19:41After you.
19:43Hi-ho.
19:44Hi-ho.
19:45Who are you calling ho?
19:47Hey.
19:48Wow, there's a lot of red in here.
19:53I am very country for time this morning.
19:58I have, like, 70% of the dress to get done, and I'm very, very nervous about making sure
20:04that it fits her and being something that's interesting.
20:07I'm a little worried for Seth.
20:09Just a couple hours before the end of the night, he started to make another look, and
20:13I'm hoping that it's going to work out for him.
20:16After running through a few different designs, I decided to take the retro Campbell's soup approach,
20:24is what I call it.
20:26This is more of a couture gown than a couture gown.
20:35Since we all did red dresses, it's kind of like comparing oranges to oranges, or apples to apples in this case.
20:42Each one needed to be a little bit different to stand out.
20:45Every single one of us is very worried at this point.
20:49There are a couple of designers that are pretty much done, but I don't think that any of the designs, including mine, are really as great as they could be if we had more time.
20:58Shoot.
20:59Good morning, designers.
21:02We'll be sending in your models shortly.
21:04You will each have an hour to send them to the Garnier Hair Salon and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room.
21:09If they're bringing in their own shoes, then use the bluefly.com wall for accessories.
21:14Okay.
21:15Go, go, go.
21:16Morning.
21:17How are you today, sweetie?
21:18It's so good as well.
21:19If I could spit it on you real quick to make sure.
21:24I feel rushed a little bit because making sure that everything lays the way I think it should, I'm working right up to the last moment.
21:34Oh, very nice.
21:35Yeah?
21:36Very nice.
21:37I think it looks good.
21:38And I think that necklace is good.
21:39These are the shoes that I have.
21:40Oh, I just need to roll it and hem it.
21:43Perfect.
21:44That's great.
21:45Like, good times.
21:46What is that?
21:47It looks like a cheap flag at the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
21:52It was important for you to be true to yourself.
21:55I'm just like floored that I pulled this dress out of my ass in the last minute and it actually was the right cut for her that I should have done earlier yesterday.
22:06I'm really confident about my dress.
22:08My model looks beautiful in it and I think it shapes her body really well.
22:11I feel like Jesus seems to worry about his dress just because it's so short and so tight and like it doesn't really read gala party.
22:21I love it.
22:22I love it.
22:23It's exactly what I want.
22:24This almost makes having heart surgery worth it.
22:28Aww.
22:29Okay, let's go get yourself up.
22:32She wants a lot of pop.
22:33Are we thinking federal policies?
22:34Make her look fabulous.
22:35It's got more curl.
22:36Is this in the back?
22:37Yeah.
22:38Well, I mean maybe not so high.
22:39This is a nice experience for you too, right?
22:40Absolutely.
22:41And my husband's birthday was the first day.
22:46This is definitely a fashion emergency of Chernobyl proportions because everyone's running, everyone's grabbing irons, everyone's pressing the iron, spitting on fabrics.
23:09People are really doing anything they can to scramble to finish their dresses in the last moment.
23:16No.
23:17All right, Missy.
23:18Help me right back.
23:19Just take a second.
23:20Where are we?
23:21Designers, guest models, this is it.
23:24All right, Missy.
23:25We're going down to the runway.
23:26Follow me.
23:27Amy, are you the last?
23:30That's it.
23:31Coming up on Project Runway.
23:33This dress was just like a bag tied in the middle.
23:51in the middle i'm just not sure about your taste
24:04welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out
24:11there are 13 of you here and after tonight there will be 12. your challenge was to design a dress

24:24lives have been impacted by heart disease the winning look will be won at the annual red dress
24:29awards during new york fashion week and will be sold on project runway.com all right let's meet
24:35the judges first we have top american designer michael kors hey guys fashion director for
24:42marie clara magazine nina garcia hello everyone designer and co-founder of marquesa georgina
24:49chapman hello her dresses have been worn by the likes of anne hathaway halle berry and jennifer lopez
24:58we will score your designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named the winner
25:03and one of you will be out all right let's start the show
25:07i'm so happy with how happy christina is when she comes out on the runway and i think i really gave
25:16her that classic elegance with a few tweaks here and there to keep it modern you keep it fresh
25:29the dress expresses my voice yes but it's more my client's voice and this is one challenge where
25:35i let her take the lead and i think we got what we wanted
25:43i'm feeling really good about the dress it stands out it's a little different it has a lot of texture
25:48in it and it has a feminine quality and also sort of an edgy quality which i love
25:58she is incredible on the runway anthony found a way to make this full-figured woman look just as
26:04classy confident and polished as the women who are size four and size six
26:12i feel pretty confident watching her come down the runway
26:16i think the dress definitely has my design sensibility in it all in all the design it suits her very well
26:23when i'm looking at my dress i think that it does express me as a designer i think that
26:31construction is beautiful the fit's beautiful and i think that my detail looks amazing and
26:35the best thing is that i satisfy my client
26:45staff is really enjoying herself seeing her so happy overwhelmed my feelings of disappointment in
26:51myself about how the garment actually turned out i think i really struggle with the super formal evening
26:57gown aspect
27:04i feel great watching julie she just looked very sweet and happy and so cute and she told me she's happy
27:12with the way it looks and the way it fits everything looks really good the look came together really
27:23well the fit is really right where i want it she loves it and i'm really liking what i'm seeing
27:28she looks stunning she looks absolutely amazing and the dress fits and she's able to move in it and
27:41it's a really great feeling because i know that i i did what i needed to do
27:46she looks so confident and she looks great in the dress it looked different than any other dress that
27:59was up there so i was happy about that it just kind of went pow
28:03i feel like i made a pretty dress you know i mean it's not perfect but it has a nice hem and i like
28:16the flowers and i did my job i'm happy with that
28:25here comes rose and my god she worked that dress like there was no tomorrow
28:31it definitely expressed my point of view she's happy i'm happy so we're both good
28:47if i call your name please step forward mila maya anna amy jesse jesus please step forward
29:01if i have not called your name congratulations your scores have qualified you to move on to the next
29:08challenge you can eat the runway
29:18the six of you represent the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner
29:24and one of you will be out let's bring out your models
29:35mila tell us about your look well uh when i was looking at the campbell's dossier i i sort of gravitated
29:42towards the star icon and then i i just incorporated the logo fabric right here as a trim when i saw this
29:49dress it made me smile i i just thought it was really fun yet it has a sense of classic at the
29:55same time which is really hard to achieve i love how you incorporated the branding i love how you
30:00thought about the star i thought that was brilliant i think that this is a dress that maybe not every
30:06woman can pull off but you pulled that dress up really really well i agree because you just looked
30:12like hey i own this dress i'm rocking it looks great so i think job well done jesse tell us about
30:19your look i um was going for something that worked with her body so i wanted to cinch the waist and
30:26fill the bust and then also i was thinking i wanted to have a jacket that she could pair with it i think
30:32that it's a sweet dress but i don't think that it stands out enough to me it looks a little costumey
30:39like a maybe a little bit of a majorette like she should have a you know baton or something the use
30:44of the branding was not that creative like some sort of strange corsage jennifer do you have a problem
30:52taking the jacket off so we can see i would question putting white at that point in the waist i think
30:59that's never flashing on anybody i think the neckline is very beautiful and i think it frames
31:07her face very nicely if it would have been crepe or something that moved that had a little bit less
31:14of a shine i think you would have been in a much better situation hey sus tell us about your design
31:19okay well we of course had to incorporate the labeling so i decided to incorporate it on the side and
31:26pleat it to give to make it look more elegant i also decided to create these straps right here to
31:31give it kind of like a glamorous look and she wanted a short dress michael what do you think
31:37where do i start you basically took a checklist of everything that can turn tacky and combined it into
31:45one garment tight red satin that short plus the built-in straps i think perhaps there's just too many
31:53elements going on in this dress i think if you took maybe the rhinestones away you would end up with
31:59a more successful dress i i think the eye doesn't quite know where to go when you're looking at it
32:04i definitely think that you have very good construction skills i'm just not sure about
32:11your taste less is more you have to be very careful of not going overboard with these very cliche
32:22items amy tell us about your look for nadian and i it was really important that she feels very sexy
32:28and confident in her dress we wanted to do a strapless top to show off her scar and kind of
32:33everything she's been through i thought it was really beautiful i love the fabric that you picked i love
32:40the movement of the dress it feels very modern very feminine thank you i think the dress is beautiful
32:47when you walked out it moved it walked so beautifully and you looked so ethereal and
32:51confident and i could tell that you were really happy in the dress you know the word elegant in
32:57today's times can seem old-fashioned but what i loved here it was elegant but it was modern
33:05thumbs up you look fabulous thank you anna tell us about your look well stephanie and i wanted to go
33:11away from sort of a red rectangle and so we focused on using color in such a way that would break up
33:18and create more of a waste for her i do like the bottom half of the dress but i don't think a racerback
33:26silhouette on her who is broader on the shoulders is going to help her out and i think that the way this
33:33is cut you know you wanted to whittle her waist in but i actually think it's making her look very broad
33:38on top um and not bringing my eye up to her face it doesn't feel to me like an evening dress perhaps
33:46a color choice of the flesh is just a touch off maya tell us about your look we talked about having
33:53something with a lower neckline that shows her scar and she was talking about how she used to cover it
33:58up and now she wants to be proud of it for me there's something interesting about this dress i feel
34:04like there is a design there gives like a nice shape to the body i kind of see like a half of a
34:09heart the effort that you put into the draping is what we found interesting and i like the clutch i
34:15thought that was clever the dress made me want to look again and i think that's always a great thing
34:19with the dress it's very flattering i think it looks really good on you it's interesting and elegant
34:24at the same time um so overall i think a pretty great job okay we've heard what you had to say we're
34:31going to have a little chat and then i call you back thank you very much you can leave the runway
34:43let's start with jesse i don't understand why you would make such a short white jacket it still didn't
34:50fit you know the shoulder on the jacket was terrible yeah however one thing i did like was his
34:57neckline from the waist up the dress was very flattering on her good bosoms yep excellent
35:07let's move on to jesus
35:11i had full flashback to shiny short tight tacky all of that we've seen it before and then let's add the
35:20crystals on top of it it would have been a whole other story without the straps he is really good
35:27at sewing you know he knows how to make clothes it's really unfortunately it boils down to taste is
35:33something that you just can't learn anna this dress was just like a a bag tied in the middle but i
35:43understood where she was coming from from a design point of view i it felt contemporary and it felt young
35:49i just felt it was inappropriate for the challenge okay let's move on to the designers that we did
35:57like let's start with mila i love the braiding of the of the campbell branding i like the star
36:05i love the neckline she put it on the perfect spot she really captured the spirit of her model and she
36:12had fun with it i think amy also did a really beautiful dress the way she handled the fabrics
36:21was really great yes i loved the subtle shine of the charmeuse coming through the chiffon
36:29so it wasn't a big charmeuse dress and i think also it was the right silhouette for her clients and
36:35modern she looked chic okay let's move on to maya i did like it but i wasn't sure whether i should
36:45like it it was a strange thing i was looking at it i i really shouldn't be going for this dress but
36:49there was something there that kept drawing me back and to see something with a little more interest
36:54i think was nice there was thought there was workmanship there was surprise it is about heart health
37:01so she brought the heart one side of the heart into it right she didn't integrate the campbells
37:07but i like the bag yeah the back the bag was cute
37:12okay so we've made our decision good let's bring them back out
37:23the six of you represent the best and the worst one of you will be named the winner and one of you
37:30will be out
37:42one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
37:48maya you're in you can leave the runway thank you
37:51amy you are the winner of this challenge your dress was elegant moved beautifully and made your

38:35jesse you're in you can leave the runway
38:43anna jesus one of you will be out
38:58jesus your dress was trying to be too many things at once and ended up looking tacky and cheap we again
39:07don't question your taste level anna you made some serious misjudgments this dress was poorly made
39:17and unflattering for your client's figure anna
39:21you're in you can leave the runway thank you
39:35i'm sorry jesus that means you're out
39:38okay thank you it was a great experience
