00:00Hello, very good morning to you. There's a bit of a chill in the air at the moment, and even though there's some sunny weather to be had, with some brisk winds, it's going to feel even colder.
00:09It's all because of the low pressure that's out in the North Sea. This was Storm Benjamin, and this is bringing cold Arctic air down from the north, and those tightly packed ice bars showing just how blustery it is going to be.
00:21As well as this, we still have the hangback of it, bringing some clouds and rain overnight across eastern parts. Still some of that lingering for a little while yet across parts of East Anglia, London and Kent.
00:31But it clears away as we go through the end of the morning, and then we end up with sort of two sorts of weather really across the UK through into this afternoon.
00:39Many areas, central eastern parts, dry with some sunny spells, but in places exposed to this brisk northerly wind, there are going to be quite a few showers around.
00:49So, across northern parts of Scotland, the showers are going to be quite frequent, could be quite heavy, and over modest high ground, we're talking 300-400 metres or so, there's going to be some sleet and snow.
00:59Further south, across Northern Ireland, plenty of showers here, and across Wales, southwest England, also plenty of showers. Some of them could be heavy, could have some hail mixed in with them.
01:08Meanwhile, more central and eastern parts, apart from a few showers around coastal spots, it's going to be largely dry with some sunny spells.
01:15Despite the sunny spells, though, a cold feel, and feeling even colder in those brisk winds, gales possible around some coastal parts towards the North Sea.
01:24Some of the showers will ease as we go overnight, but actually across western and northern parts, a lot of the showers will continue.
01:31Just in the central and eastern areas, we are going to see largely dry, largely clear weather overnight.
01:36And with the winds easing down a little bit as well, it's looking a bit chillier, a bit colder for many than it was last night, the exception being towards the far northwest, where we have cloud pushing in here.
01:46Here, it's looking a little bit milder, but most places, a chillier night to come, so a greater chance of rural spots dropping to around or a little bit below freezing.
01:55So a bit of frost first thing tomorrow morning, especially towards the east.
01:59But in the east, it does look like it's going to be a bright, sunny start to the day, cloudier further west.
02:05And actually, that cloud, with some rain in the west, will feed its way east and southeastwards as we go through the day.
02:11So most places, seeing some cloudy, wet weather at some point, it will just take a little bit longer to arrive.
02:16If you're in the southeast, then it will be across parts of the northwest.
02:19The rain doesn't look especially heavy. There will be some heavier bursts, but it moves through relatively quickly.
02:26And actually, across parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland, there will be some glimmers of sunshine breaking through later on in the afternoon as well, albeit a few showers too.
02:35Temperatures are going to be on paper, maybe a degree or so higher than today.
02:39But with the cloud and the rain pushing in, it's still going to feel pretty cold at times.
02:44Then, as we go into next week, more mixed weather to come, I think it's fair to say.
02:48There will be some rain around, and it could be a little bit heavy at times.
02:52There will be some stronger winds, but also some drier spells too.
02:56And worth bearing in mind our temperatures.
02:58Yes, some cold weather at least to start the week.
03:00But as we go through the week, things are going to get a little bit milder, a little bit warmer as we go through what is half term for many people and as we head towards Halloween.
03:09So whether or not you need your coat if you're going trick-or-treating, that's still a bit uncertain because there should be or could be some rain around.
03:16But you probably won't need to wrap up as warm as you will do this coming weekend.
