24 October - National Morning Forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, it's set to be a cold and breezy start this morning, but will the chill last
00:05into the weekend? Well the showers certainly will, it's likely we'll see a fair few of
00:09those this morning. Plenty of rain pushing into parts of northeastern Scotland, also
00:14northeastern England. A fair few showers starting to push into Wales, parts of the southwest,
00:19these could be heavy with some hail and thunder. But it's not all doom and gloom, there will
00:23be some brighter spells at times, particularly across central England, parts of the south
00:26and southeast, seeing some brighter spells. But it is going to be quite breezy, feeling
00:31cold in that breeze too. Highs only reaching around 12 to 13 degrees Celsius across the
00:36south, but only reaching around 10 degrees across parts of Scotland. But in that wind,
00:40it is going to feel that bit chillier. Now the brisk northerly winds will continue
00:45through into the evening, pushing all that cloud and rain into parts of the south and
00:49southeast through the course of the night. It's likely we'll see still a fair amount of
00:52showers across any coastal areas, particularly down around in the east. And it's still fairly
00:57breezy, so it's set to be quite chilly once again as we head through into Saturday. With
01:01those brisk winds, it's likely to remain frost-free. Now for the beginning of the weekend, it will
01:06be dry and bright in parts. It's likely we'll see some sunny spells at times, but you can
01:11see there are still plenty of showers feeding through into the north. So Scotland, Northern Ireland,
01:15likely to see a fair few. Also some feeding into parts of Wales and southwest England at times.
01:20So any inland areas are likely to see the best of the brightness. Once again, it is going
01:24to be feeling chilly. Highs only reaching around 13 degrees Celsius across the south.
01:29Take a look at those temperatures across Scotland too. Highs between 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, but
01:34if we add on that wind chill, it's actually going to feel more like freezing. So a cold start
01:38to the weekend. And then with low pressure situated out to the east, high pressure out to
01:43the west, that's going to maintain that northerly flow. So it's still feeling chilly as we head
01:47through into Sunday. And notice low pressure never too far away. So a dry, bright start.
01:53Some isolated showers in places. And then a change on its way. Cloud, outbreaks of rain
01:58starting to push into parts of the northwest. So quite a soggy end to the weekend here. Mostly
02:03dry and bright once again across the south and southeast, but likely plenty of clouds.
02:08Still fairly windy once again, feeling chilly around those exposed coasts. Highs reaching
02:13between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius. Now of course, don't forget you can always subscribe to our
