00:00The soldiers just started to shoot up in the streets, started to shoot up the place, I
00:04keep going mad.
00:05Children in the road, people in the road, it was like just madness.
00:11Eyewitnesses to the fatal shooting of Sherida Ali describe a tragic case of being in the
00:16wrong place at the wrong time, with many pointing to what they call reckless behaviour from
00:22a member of the regiment.
00:25I was sitting on the highway there, when we see a silver car come speeding up on the highway
00:30on the shoulder, upwards, and I get up because I ain't going to stand up on the highway because
00:39it's like a mad thing going on these days.
00:42So I just jump off the highway, start to run, shots start to burst, the police and the soldiers
00:48and them start to shoot, he stand up right there and he shoot straight by the arm window,
00:56and the girl was standing up right by the window busting a piece of ice by the sink
00:59in the kitchen, and she get straight headshot and that was it.
01:04Reports are that sometime before 6 Saturday evening, police and members of the Defence
01:09Force were in pursuit of suspects driving a stolen vehicle, when the suspects drove
01:14westward on the eastbound lane of the Beetham Highway, pulled up and ran out of the vehicle.
01:20Eyewitnesses say law enforcement officers pulled up shortly afterwards, but they're
01:24denying reports that there was a shootout.
01:27When they start to shoot, the fellas and them already disappear, it had nobody there.
01:33Them like them just shoot to prove a point or something, because it had nobody more than
01:38children and normal civilians was in the road.
01:42TV6 News was shown five bullet holes on the southern side of the home where Sherida Ali
01:47was visiting her close friend Lisa Welch.
01:50The two were in the kitchen when the shots were fired.
01:52That girl come to collect some money from me, from her work, and just decide to sit
01:59down and take a little drink, so people can't do that in their own house.
02:04This is madness, you understand, and I want justice for my friend and for her husband
02:09and her two children.
02:10Do you feel like the authorities should come and visit you all?
02:13Yes, of course, and plus they need to get some people to talk to us and all too, because
02:20this is a real traumatized situation.
02:24It had a lot of children, was inside the house, about 12 of us was in there.
02:29Sherida's sister was also present at the time of the incident.
02:33All parties say she died instantaneously.
02:37My sister's blood is still on me.
02:40So they took her to the hospital?
02:44Yes, they took her to the hospital, the police did that.
02:50The victim's friends and the family say they will not rest until justice is served.
02:55I was telling the officer, I say he's a soldier, I see with my own eyes, shooting coming towards
03:01the house from on the highway, you understand.
03:05He is the one who was shooting up the house, right, and when I tell, when I was talking
03:12to the two officers outside, one of the officers jumped up and said, well how is soul, soul,
03:17there's nothing in going to come out of that.
03:19I said, well there is one that's not sweeping under the carpet, just so I tell him.
03:26The TGPS is expected to address the matter on Monday.
