A couple of Chaguanas residents are appealing for help from the authorities, after being hit by flooding late last year.

00:00Tonight a Chagones resident is appealing for help from the authorities after
00:04being hit by flooding late last year. Natasha Toussaint tells TV6 her home was
00:10flooded out last December and that while she was able to salvage some items she
00:14lost most of her belongings. Ms Toussaint says authorities visited her home to
00:19assess the damage. They came and they surveyed by me and they told me that I
00:27have to get a grant to get back my stuff. They put down that I would have
00:31received a stove, a fridge, a chair set and a wardrobe and up to this day I
00:38haven't received anything nor have I got a phone call. Every time I keep going
00:44they always telling me nothing yet. I just want to say you know I'm trying and
00:51the assistance will be greatly appreciated. TV6 reached out to Minister
00:57of Social Development and Family Services Donna Cox about the claims.
01:01Minister Cox says Ms Toussaint was supposed to submit an invoice for the
01:05grant to be processed. However that invoice is still outstanding. The
01:09ministry contacted Ms Toussaint today and reminded her to submit the invoice.
01:13The minister says officials will work to fast-track the process from there.
