00:01It's a week of contrast between the north-west of the UK and the south-east.
00:06Towards the north-west, we have weather fronts bringing cloud and some outbreaks of rain,
00:10increasingly so overnight, a keen breeze here as well.
00:14Towards the south and east of the country, clearer spells, lighter winds and, as a result,
00:20similar to previous nights, it's going to be a chilly night out there, temperatures
00:24dipping down to the mid to high single figures in some sheltered spots a little lower again.
00:29And a few mist and fog patches forming, particularly for southern parts of England.
00:34No mist and fog at low levels further north, it's more like hill fog because of the extent
00:39of cloud that's arriving overnight into Scotland, northern and western England, as well as West
00:44Wales and Northern Ireland.
00:46Here we'll see outbreaks of rain, increasingly overnight, that rain turning a little heavier
00:51and more prolonged in places, the wetter spots once again western Scotland.
00:55Of course, that keeps things milder overnight in the north, but it is a gloomy start to
01:00the day for the north of the UK and for parts of north-west England and West Wales.
01:05We keep the cloud through the day.
01:06The rain will come and go.
01:07It will ease off for a time before heavier outbreaks arrive later.
01:12And after we lift any mist in the south, well, it will be a bright spell or two, but actually
01:18increasingly cloudy here as well.
01:20So you can see the extent of the cloud by the end of the afternoon.
01:24Nevertheless, it's a relatively warm day for the time of year, 18 to 20 Celsius in the
01:29south-east.
01:30And eastern Scotland could get 19 Celsius or so, given a fern effect where the wind travels
01:35over higher parts to the south and west and warms up as it crosses higher ground.
01:41And actually, plenty of bright weather in the north-east of Scotland.
01:45It's the west where we see the brunt of the rain, and that's increasingly true later Tuesday.
01:50It turns heavier and more persistent as this rain arrives into Northern Ireland, much of
01:54Scotland as well, and then spills south into Cumbria.
01:59And it's this wet weather, accompanied by an increasingly strong wind, that we are more
02:03and more concerned about for the middle of the week.
02:07But it's a similar night to come for the south and south-east.
02:11I think a bit more cloud, a bit more of a breeze, so fog perhaps less extensive.
02:16But a bright enough start for the Midlands, parts of southern England as well.
02:20Patchy cloud here and there.
02:22Nevertheless, it's for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England where we see those
02:26outbreaks of rain continuing.
02:27A much wetter day to come for Wednesday, particularly, again, western Scotland, and that breeze reaching
02:33gale force in the far north-west in exposed spots, making it feel altogether a little unpleasant.
02:39But where we see some sunshine further south, temperatures again getting up to the high teens
02:45or even 20 Celsius.
02:48Now it's in the north-west of Scotland where we see these weather fronts bringing increasing
02:53spells of rain.
02:54And in fact, west and south-west Scotland could really bear the brunt of the rain through the
02:59second half of Wednesday into Thursday, a yellow warning in force at the moment.

03:07It's increasingly breezy across all parts as well, but that wind coming from the south-west,
03:11although moisture-laden, will be relatively mild.
