00:01For many of us, there are two sides to the weather this weekend, a very wet start to
00:07the weekend and then a bright, sunny but crisp end to the weekend.
00:13We start things off with another low pressure, another area of rain moving into much of England
00:19and Wales first thing Saturday.
00:21That's going to be particularly heavy and persistent across Wales and the south-west
00:25overnight clearing through into the Midlands, East Anglia and the south-east but only slowly
00:30peeling away and then pushing some rain back by the afternoon into northern England, parts
00:35of southern Scotland perhaps.
00:37Showers replace it into western and south-western parts and we'll see further showers coming
00:40into the north of Scotland after a frosty start here.
00:44But in between, central, south-west Scotland, northern Ireland, plenty of sunny spells and
00:49we'll see some brighter skies return to the south-west into parts of the Midlands and
00:54Wales by the end of the afternoon.
00:57So unsettled sums it up but the wettest weather will be in a swathe from the south-west of
01:02England through the Midlands, East Anglia could cause some issues given the saturated
01:05nature of the ground, given busy traffic in places, perhaps some surface water problems
01:11on the roads and so on.
01:1312 degrees in the south, not so pleasant when it's raining through the day and a colder
01:17day to come for northern parts because we've got this colder air coming in from the north
01:22south.
01:23And that spreads more widely across the country on Saturday night.
01:26A strong wind blowing down the north sea coast, sending further showers into parts of northern
01:31and eastern Scotland and eastern England for a time before eventually that moves away.
01:35But for many, actually, the winds are easing overnight.
01:38And with the cold air in place, with clear spells, well, a widespread frost to begin things on
01:44Sunday temperatures in rural spots, certainly a few degrees below freezing.
01:50But Sunday morning looks beautiful, plenty of sunshine around because we're saying goodbye
01:56to this low and the next low doesn't turn up until Monday.
02:00So we've got a day off.
02:01A ridge of high pressure coming along.
02:03Blue colours on the map, so a cold start and it's certainly going to feel quite crisp through
02:08the day.
02:09Final day of meteorological autumn and it's looking like a nice one with plenty of sunshine
02:13if you like that sort of thing.
02:14Blue skies and after that frosty start, temperatures only getting up to the mid single figures for
02:20many places.
02:21After some showers first thing in the east, it turns drier and sunnier and that's the sunniest
02:26place by the afternoon.
02:28Further west we do have the cloud thickening.
02:30We've got some showers in one or two spots and some more persistent rain moving into western
02:34parts of Northern Ireland by the end of the afternoon basically.
02:38Ten degrees in the far south west, for many it's mid single figures, but with lighter winds,
02:44with more sunshine compared with the last few days, perhaps feeling a little more pleasant.
02:48Make the most of it because here comes Monday's wet weather and Monday does look like a very
02:53soggy one.
