00:00Hi there. Following a summer-like day in the southeast of England today, we're going to see
00:06a cold front bring more autumnal conditions for the start of the weekend. A very long cold front
00:13associated with the deep and large cyclone near Iceland. And this cold front divides the country
00:19into two. We've had blustery showers on and off throughout the day across Scotland and Northern
00:22Ireland. They continue overnight. Cold front then brings this area of cloud and some patchy rain,
00:27not a great deal, south-eastwards, clearing the far south-east by a round dawn or shortly
00:32afterwards, and then introduces much cooler air across all parts of the country. Clearing skies,
00:38one or two mist and fog patches for the start of Saturday. Nothing particularly extensive.
00:43We'll notice a change in how it feels outside. It's going to feel much fresher. Temperatures widely
00:48in the single figures across England and Wales. A little bit higher for Scotland and Northern
00:53Ireland simply because we've got these gusty winds continuing and further showers at times.
00:58Those showers most frequent, the north and west of Scotland, northern and western parts of Northern
01:01Ireland. Some bright spells in between. The best chance of avoiding the showers, southern and eastern
01:06parts of Scotland. There'll be one or two into northern England, parts of Wales as well, prone to
01:10the odd shower. But for many parts of England or Wales, it's a largely dry and bright day. Best of
01:14the
01:14sunshine. The Midlands, the east and south-east of England are with light winds, feeling pleasant
01:19enough. A mellow kind of late September day, but not as warm as it was on Friday. Low 20s
01:25possible. High teens further north and west across the country. Mid-teens for the north
01:30and west of Scotland, where those gusty winds will pick up through the day. Reaching a peak
01:35in the evening on Saturday, and we'll also see an increase in the instability with these
01:39showers. Hail and thunder, a possibility late afternoon going into the start of the evening.
01:44These showers merge in to give longer spells of rain at times. One or two showers again across
01:49western parts of England and Wales. Some patchy cloud emerging into the south. The wind's picking
01:54up, so less mist and fog for Saturday night, early Sunday. But some clear spells to be had
01:59through the Midlands, eastern England. And then a real divide across the country for the
02:04start of Sunday. It's not as cool because of the increasing breeze and increasing areas
02:08of humidity ahead of the next weather system, which is waiting in the wings to come in for
02:13Sunday itself. Now, dry start for many parts. Still some showers in the west and central
02:18part of Scotland. More persistent rain reaching the northwest of Scotland early on, and then
02:22spreading into northern Ireland, western Scotland, into western parts of England and Wales. And
02:26you can see the bright colours there. Heavy rain, especially over western hills. And look
02:31at the state of it by Sunday mid-afternoon. Wet and windy for many parts of the country, but
02:38the heaviest rain will be across Scotland, northern England. More fragmented further south. Still
02:43some heavy bursts, especially for Dartmoor and Exmoor heading into the afternoon. And a
02:48lot of cloud. But the rain not quite reaching eastern England, where it's warm and bright
02:53ahead of it. Cooler to the west of the rain as it clears Northern Ireland during the afternoon.
02:58And that rain does move across the whole of the country later Sunday, leading to a drier
03:04and brighter starts to next week before another system arrives on Tuesday. We've got more details
