00:37It was a bit of an issue with noise, and that delayed my sleep a bit.

00:53The second visit of the week is to Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

00:56And the Yorkshire hosts, owned by Ben Dean and Holly Harper, a couple who prove opposites attract.

01:03I'm definitely a real people person.

01:05I love meeting new people.

01:06I love speaking to guests.

01:08Ben, not so much.

01:10Yeah, I can't say people are my favourite.

01:13I'm just not a huge people person.

01:17Guests looking for hosts with the most unlikely profession can choose from five self-catered, self-check-in apartments for up to £160 per night, based on a two-night minimum, in a place the hosts believe is brilliant.

01:30It's super modern, it's luxurious, it has everything that you would need to stay, whether you're staying for a weekend to enjoy the town, or you're staying here for three, four months at a time.

01:42It's got a real home-from-home feeling.

01:44But there's one feature which won't have the pair shouting from the rooftops.

01:47Being in a town centre does have its drawbacks.

01:51It can be busy, there can be noise, there's a lot of things going on which might disrupt sleep on some occasion, but that's living in a town centre.

01:59About to arrive are today's first guests.

02:27So, what can we expect at your place?

02:29We've got some very modern apartments in the town centre, aimed at the more modern guests.

02:36It is self-check-in, but you'll have all the information that you need before you arrive.

02:42So today, Dominic and Anna are forward-thinking.

02:45I'm very excited. I'm sure Holly and Ben's place is going to be pretty top-end.

03:57When we stay somewhere, it has to have a wow factor, and the views that you get from your pub is just unbelievable.

04:04I didn't know if they were alluding to what they offer at their accommodation.

04:08So today, Steve and Tabitha are wondering how wowee their place might be.

04:16I'm thinking top-end high-spec is what they're going for.

07:42Yeah, I'm not really that much of a drinker, but I'm sure I'll make it, you'll drink it.

07:46The Spirit of Harrogate offers a gin masterclass, where visitors create bespoke gins tailored to their tastes.

07:59At wetting the appetite today is gin guru Marcus.

08:03Gin is just vodka flavoured with juniper.

08:06Other than that, anything you like.

08:08Hopefully, during the course of today, we'll find a flavour profile that suits you, and as well as having some fun, you're going to be making your own gin.

08:17Marcus and his team have provided the group with samples of six flavour profiles to help them become gin genii.

08:24I can't put my finger on what it tastes like.

08:26I have no idea.

08:27I can definitely taste citrus in it.

08:29Yeah, I'm getting a little bit of fruit in that.

08:31Yeah.

08:32Ooh, that's our herb garden outside the kitchen window.

08:34And the group give a flavour of their tastes.

08:37We like number one.

08:40I think we're fruity, so we'll go with number two.

08:45I think number four for me was my favourite.

08:48I'm more the herbal or spice.

08:50And I preferred the fruit.

08:51I didn't realise there was so much variation in a gin.

08:56It's always good to learn something new, isn't it?

08:58So I found it an education and an enjoyable one at that.

09:03The group are given a set of recipes on a tablet.

09:35Ben and Holly were really chirpy and happy and, yeah, enthusiastic about it all, which was nice to see.

09:47I think Ben and Holly have done a fantastic job as hosts.

09:50Even though they haven't been present there at the check-in, the information guidance was spot on.

10:05We always try and point them to local businesses.

10:08So there's a pump room, there's all the different gardens of the Turkish baths.

10:15There's a lot going on in terms of the convention centre.

10:18We've got two theatres here as well.

10:20It's a nice pull for people visiting.

10:22There's a lot on their doorstep and that is a gem.

11:12How did you come about running this place?

11:15So we actually came across the property on social media.

11:19The landlord was looking for a tenant, so we sent him a message which led to a meeting

11:25and we managed to get it that way, didn't we?

11:28Yeah.

11:28So basically, are you a management company who don't own properties?

11:34We do a mixture of the two.

11:35And what are your roles within the business?

11:37Do you have defined roles?

11:39Yeah, I'm definitely the boss.

11:41Ben's got a full-time job, but we've got 20 properties in total,

11:45so it takes up a lot of both of our time.

11:47But I'm more operations, guest communication, and Ben's more...

11:50Number crunching, things like that.

11:53Yeah, we have been known to crunch numbers in bed.

11:56We do.

11:57Yeah, it's quite romantic.

11:58I cannot believe that.

12:01Holly and Ben as a couple are really, really, really nice.

12:05From a business point of view, obviously they've put their heart and soul

12:08into what they've achieved, and they've achieved a lot.

12:45On the whole, I run the business.

12:48To be completely honest, we never see each other.

12:50Like, I go to my full-time job, and obviously we have a little one as well.

12:54So it's a lot to juggle at the moment.

14:31This morning with the builders across the way, it was super noisy.

14:46I think a blackout blind would solve that problem.

14:49There was a bit of an issue with noise, just not used to it,

14:52so I think that kind of delayed my sleep a bit.

15:00Breakfast at the Yorkshire hosts is a self-catering affair.

15:04And while both Kerry and Vicky and Tabitha and Steve are cooking up a storm,

15:09Dominic and Anna have hot-footed it to a local cafe.

15:11But it's the hosts feeling the heat.
