00:01Hey you guys welcome back to Enderprises, once again this is your host Ender Gamer and today's video we're going to be doing a movie review.
00:10Alright now, today's video we're going to be talking about the Joker.
00:17It's been at the center of discussion for quite some time, even long before it came out, whether it's about the politics inciting violence and all that stuff.
00:28And I've just been reading up all this stuff and listening to what everyone was saying and I was just waiting to see the movie for myself, that's all I was waiting to see.
00:40Because I was just fed up hearing everyone else's biased opinion of the movie because that's what it really is at the end of the day, it's their biased opinion.
00:50And a lot of these people haven't even seen the movie but they're somehow acting like it's going to start a next big riot in the street or something.
00:58Alright, so I've been thinking, I finally got to see the movie last year and I've been thinking about it, you know, over the night and I've been watching spoiler reviews which I was eager to watch.
01:09I finally had to listen to a lot of other people's raw, real take on the movie.
01:14Like, and I've been thinking about it and as I say this movie is better than I expected and that is actually a huge accomplishment because I was really anticipated for this movie, you know, just to see the performance of Joaquin Phoenix as out of like this Joker character.
01:36And I did not, I wasn't disappointed. I've been thinking about it like, is there really any flaws in this movie and so far I can only think of nitpicks really.
01:49Well, for starters, one of the most common nitpicks you've probably heard of this movie is the pacing, it's a slow burn and that's common for these types of movies.
02:00You know, being a slow burn, you know, it starts off kind of like slow, it picks up as it enters the second act, that's where it starts to pick up quite a bit.
02:12Right, when you see him finally decide to, you know, retaliate from all of the nonsense that he has to put up with.
02:22Right, you know, his friend gives him a gun and he decides to use it when he's attacked on a train and you see how he snaps when he does it.
02:32Like, there's this like disgust and disdaining on him and he feels very angry, but he also feels very liberated, like relieved in a sense.
02:44And you see, there's this kind of like yoga dancing, sort of slow, like mesmerizing or symbolic, you know, stuff.
02:55And it looks really beautiful in a way, but it also feels very sad with the tone of the movie.
03:04And I was thinking about it and I was like, that's really powerful, you know, the message in the movie.
03:10It's very sad, but very beautiful.
03:14And it makes him feel conflicted about how to feel, because at one hand, you know, you want, you feel bad for him because of you relating to some of the stuff.
03:25And you can understand what he's going through with some of the situations.
03:29But at the same time with, you know, the theme of it and the acting and the portrayal, you feel conflicted because you know this isn't a good guy.
03:42You know, he is, he starts to get worse than this.
03:48It gets worse for him.
03:50So yeah.
03:51And I think that's a really impressive approach that I thought Philippe used for this movie.
03:57Another big thing I want to talk about is going down to the second, third half of the movie.
04:03And that is when he actually starts to dwell into becoming Joker.
04:10This is where it gets really crazy.
04:12You know, he starts to like make makeup stuff in his head, talks to himself, you know, those kind of stuff.
04:19And the movie does this kind of weird direction where it implies that there's a relationship connection between him and Thomas Wayne, you know, because his mom, apparently his mom worked on the Wayne's business back in the day.
04:36While he was able to get documents to prove that it was true, there wasn't anything to prove any relations with him because apparently his mom is also diagnosed with mental illness form or something like that.
04:48And it worked off on him because of his abusive growing up.
04:53And that's also an impressive way to take the story in too because at first you're thinking, if he's really Thomas Wayne is really his father, you're going to think that means he's sort of related to Bruce Wayne.
05:08That would sound pretty weird.
05:10Although there's plenty of stuff that you can look at in a movie that says otherwise.
05:15Like for first instance being the age difference.
05:18Then there's the whole other part with him and the girl.
05:22And I think this was probably the weakest part of the movie because there wasn't really much to go with with him, you know, being attracted to this girl that he was falling around.
05:32This one really fucked with you when you looked at him.
05:38Because at first you get this sort of like setup that, you know, they start interacting in the elevator.
05:44They're seeing each other.
05:46Then they become friends.
05:48And right after he kills her and the person is sober, he goes straight to her and he mates at her.
05:55And you're thinking, damn, look like he's finally getting through something.
06:02This is where the craziness settles in.
06:04He goes back to her apartment.
06:06And when you watch it this time and you see it, you realize that she doesn't know him.
06:12And that really fucks at you because the whole time all the scenes of them interact with each other,
06:17the movie plays it off and shows you that, oh shit, that was just all in his head.
06:23That was really a powerful message here because when you're looking at it, you're like,
06:29it makes you, from there you go and start questioning what's really happening in this movie
06:36and what's really not happening, like what's actually in his head and what's actually going on.
06:42There's a crazy scene where he goes out and he starts dancing on the stairs, like a scene from the trailer.
06:50And it looks, it's something that's oddly beautiful but disturbing at the same time with that music.
07:02And I was like, god damn, it was very well directed and very well shot with the cinematography.
07:10But what really sold the movie, I think, what really sold the movie was at the end.
07:16Because at the end of it, he gets, finally gets invited on and just show it away.
07:23This person that he was looking up to has been a comedian.
07:26You know, after we found out about him on that comedy club.
07:33So I'm here by the time he reached the third act.
07:37And all the creationist starts going around.
07:40You know, you see him.
07:42He starts to put on the full makeup.
07:45And then he starts to look like the actual joker, the sophomore gender.
07:50You know, with the suit and everything.
07:53And from that moment you need to see, you realize there's no turning back.
07:59There's no turning back.
08:00This is an artist like anymore.
08:02This is the Joker.
08:04Now, unfortunately, the bad thing about this is with this, there's only so much that happens.
08:09And like next 10, 15 minutes, so it kind of like comes to an end.
08:13But it was pretty good when it lasted.
08:16You know, he shows up on the show.
08:19He's talking to my way.
08:22He starts to go crazy and all that stuff.
08:25He blows his head off.
08:28Because, you know, he sees how all this stuff he's talking about.
08:33And you know, that's what's really funny part about the arm knock knock and the bang with the gun.
08:39Which, um, bit that he was doing.
08:41He was practicing it in his room.
08:45And that whole time you're thinking yourself, if he actually does this on the show, on the interview.
08:51Is he actually going to actually oof himself?
08:55Like, is that what she is?
08:57That's what the movie is foreshadowing?
08:59But he doesn't.
09:00They did that in a very funny way.
09:03But he ends up killing Murray.
09:05And he says, you get what you fucking deserve.
09:10And then he goes onto the camera and starts ranting.
09:13Now this is what I really liked about the film.
09:16As everybody starts panicking, they cut it off.
09:18And then you see the technical difficulties and it zooms out.
09:21You've seen all these other screens, monitors, showing this different stuff.
09:26At that point, I legit thought the movie was about to end.
09:30And they show you him driving in the ambulance.
09:33You know, crashing into the police car.
09:36He comes up.
09:37He's standing up there in front of all the chaos that he's...
09:41All this sort of chaotic stuff that he has brought about.
09:46He has motivated from all these people.
09:49And he just says, it's beautiful.
09:52Now this is actually a very solid way the movie ends.
09:57Except, it doesn't end there.
10:00Yeah, it's pretty funny.
10:02There's an actual ending at the end where he's talking to a person in the ward.
10:08Presumably the Alchem Asylum itself.
10:12And then it's showing him running in the back.
10:15As his camera zooms out, him running in the back.
10:18And these people chasing behind him.
10:20Probably the caretakers.
10:22And then the movie ends.
10:24And I have to say, the whole thing is done very well.
10:28This is what a DC, a real DC comic book movie is about.
10:38When it's not edited, taken down by the studio.
10:42I mean, I'm sure they probably did some sort of like, you know, cuts on the editing room.
10:48Because there were some scenes in the chill that did not make it in the movie.
10:52And then, I really hate when that happens.
10:54But, that's pretty much calm with a lot of movies now.
10:58So, there's nothing I can do about it.
11:00But, what I would admire is that, this is definitely a director driven film.
11:06It's not something that the studio interfered with like, past DC films.
11:11So, that's one of the strongest things about this at the end.
11:14And like, you know, thinking about it.
11:16After watching a movie, you know, and learning itself.
11:19Let's say, um, at first, I was thinking to myself, it was a perfect movie.
11:25And then, after a while, I was thinking, hmm, not perfect, but very close.
11:32So, um, overall, I would probably sum it up.
11:36I would say, Joker is a, it's about a 9.3, 9.4 out of 10.
11:45It's excellent, to be honest, right?
11:48There's only a couple of nitpicks I have, you know.
11:50It's a slow burner.
11:51And, it takes a while to like, get in.
11:54It's very, unsettling to watch.
11:57All the more reasons to actually like it, to be honest.
12:00I guess it's great sounds of my review for the Joker, the so-called controversial film.
12:05Which, by the way, if you have listened to all the whole media history about this movie.
12:11Not anywhere as violent as John Wick or Rambo.
12:15To be honest.
12:16I mean, it's unsettling, yeah.
12:19It's more disturbing, too, with the way how it's structured and, you know, listen to that haunted soundtrack.
12:26But, it ain't nothing to do with mass shooting or anything like that.
12:31I mean, these media really, these journalists, so-called journalists, really blow it out of proportion, I would say.
12:37But, anyways, that's just my opinion about it.
12:40Let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below.
12:43Um, did you see the Joker?
12:45Did you like it?
12:46Did you not like it?
12:47Do you agree with all the press on what they were claiming about the Joker?
12:52Or you call it BS?
12:54Let me know in the comment section down below.
12:56And, uh, be sure to check out my other videos.
12:59And, I guess I'll see you guys later.
13:02We'll see you guys later.
