00:03Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. It's time for the rundown on your weather.
00:09Isolated activity favored Trinidad's western and northwestern hilly regions today.
00:14Here's what happened.
00:16An isolated thunderstorm developed near Tunapuna, St. Augustine and Envirens, drifting northwesterly.
00:23This area of activity produced locally heavy to intense rainfall and gusty winds.
00:28Parts of northwestern and west-central Trinidad received between 25 and 50 millimeters of rainfall with flooding ongoing across parts of Coovo, Roystonia and Point Mises.
00:42Flooding was also recorded in Maraval, Pitted Valley, Dago Martin and St. James, just to name a few.
00:48Persons are advised to take the necessary precautions in flood-prone areas.
00:52Now, according to the Met Office, Tropical Storm Gabrielle, which developed in the central Atlantic, is expected to continue on west-northwestward and veer away from the eastern Caribbean island chain.
01:06The Met Office says this is the final statement on Gabrielle, which poses no direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago.
01:13Therefore, there are currently no watches or warnings in effect for the country.
01:18The TTMS will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Gabrielle and all areas of interest.
01:25Now, let's have a look at conditions in Port of Spain presently.
01:28TV6's Weather Centre says downtown is partly cloudy with temperatures at 29 degrees Celsius.
01:34We have winds coming south at four knots and humidity is at 80%.
01:39And tonight, we're having mostly fair conditions, despite a few isolated shower-y spells, with minimum temperatures coming in at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago.
01:50So, what can we expect tomorrow?
01:53We've been seeing a trend.
01:54Hot sun in the morning and showers in the afternoon.
01:57Well, the Met Office says tomorrow's sunny and slightly hazy conditions will give way to partly cloudy periods with showers from the late morning.
02:06Favouring, but not confined to, western and helly areas.
02:11There's a medium chance of these showers becoming heavy at times.
02:15Maximum temperatures are 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago.
02:20And looking at conditions for our two favourite days of the week,
02:25Friday will give us initially sunny and slightly hazy conditions,
02:29becoming short-lived with some party cloudy and occasional shower-y interruptions.
02:34These showers are expected to occur during the afternoon.
02:38And Saturday is looking like a day to be inside, unless you're okay with running in the rain from time to time.
02:45As cloudy periods will be accompanied by some showers, with a medium chance of isolated thunderstorm activity.
02:52Maximum temperatures are 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago on Friday.
02:57And 32 degrees in Trinidad and 32 as well in Tobago on Saturday.
03:01Let's take a look at our seas.
03:03Tomorrow's seas are slight to moderate with waves 1m to 1.5m in open waters and below 1m in sheltered areas.
03:11And if you're going out early for an early morning run, sunrise is at 5.55 in Trinidad and it was set at 6.04.
03:19Over in Tobago, sunrise is at 5.52 and it was set at 6.01.
