00:00Back in with Rochelle for more on tonight's weather forecast.
00:03Thank you, Disha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:06I know it's Monday, but turn that frown upside down because it is a short week.
00:11Now let's get right to your weather.
00:13We're starting things off with what's happening today.
00:16A high wind alert was issued at 9.05 a.m. and will remain in effect until Tuesday at 12
00:23p.m.
00:23As strong, low-level winds will cause breezy to windy conditions with gusts over 55 km per hour, especially near
00:32showers.
00:33These brief but strong gusts could damage unsecured roofs, move loose outer items, and topple trees or weak structures.
00:42Tobago is expected to experience the strongest impacts.
00:45While Trinidad may see milder but noticeable effects, persons are advised to secure loose outer objects and livestock.
00:52And because of these strong winds, a yellow-level hazardous sea salute was issued on Sunday and will remain in
01:00effect until Thursday the 19th at 12 p.m.
01:03This as the sea state along the northern and eastern exposed coastal areas, including offshore regions, are expected to deteriorate
01:11to rough conditions.
01:12This is due to relatively strong winds, which are expected to agitate the sea surface, leading to large waves and
01:20potentially dangerous sea conditions.
01:23There is an increased risk of strong rip currents, posing a serious hazard to swimmers and beachgoers.
01:30Agitated seas are likely to be particularly perilous for offshore activities.
01:35This includes fishing and other small craft marine interests.
01:39Persons are advised to exercise extreme cautions.
01:42Now for a look at conditions tonight.
01:45Tonight will be mostly fair and breezy, despite some brief isolated showers at times, with minimum temperatures of 24 degrees
01:52in Trinidad and 25 in Tobago.
01:54And after some brief night showers, tomorrow is coming in hot, with sunny and, of course, windy conditions, along with
02:01a few isolated sherry spells favoring the early morning.
02:05So apart from high winds and rough seas, also joining the team tomorrow is a mild concentration of Saharan dust.
02:13As always, sensitive persons should take the necessary precautions.
02:17Temperatures will come in at 31 degrees in Trinidad and 30 degrees in Tobago.
02:21Taking a sneak peek now into our two-day forecast, where Wednesday and Thursday will also be sunny and breezy,
02:28with a few brief isolated showers expected.
02:31Both days will have maximum temperatures of 31 degrees in Trinidad and 30 degrees in Tobago.
02:36Now here are your sunrise and sunset times.
02:40In Trinidad, sunrises at 611 and 612 in Tobago, and sunset at 616 in Trinidad and 616 in Tobago as
02:48well.
02:48Keeping in mind the hazardous seas list I mentioned earlier, tomorrow's seas will be rough, with waves up to 3
02:55meters in open waters, and 1 meter to 1.5 meters choppy in sheltered areas.
03:00It's now time for your Thai time.
03:12So after several days of noticeably strong winds, you're probably wondering what's causing it, especially in the dry season.
03:20Well, Trinidad and Tobago experience stronger trade winds in the dry season because the ITCZ moves south of the islands,
03:29bringing drier and more stable weather.
03:31At the same time, the Bermuda High, a strong high-pressure system over the Atlantic, becomes stronger and increases the
03:39pressure difference between the subtropics and the equator.
03:42This stronger pressure difference causes the northeast trade winds to blow faster and more steadily across the Caribbean and over
03:51Trinidad and Tobago.
03:53Well, now you know.
03:54That's all for weather tonight.
03:56Sachin, what's making news in sports?
03:59Lots of news to come.
04:00Rochelle almost blew away with those winds today, but King sees Bolivia.
04:04We'll see you next time.
