00:00Rosma Mansour has again failed to recuse the judge who convicted her three years ago of corruption

00:06in connection with a RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project for rural schools in Sarawak.

00:13In a unanimous decision at the Court of Appeal, Justice Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim, who led a three-member

00:18bench, dismissed her claim that Justice Zaini Mazlan was biased and ruled that the allegation

00:24lacked merit. Rosma, the wife of former Prime Minister Najib Razak,

00:29is entitled to bring a final appeal from today's decision to the federal court,

00:33and lead counsel Jagjit Singh later told reporters that an appeal would be filed.

00:39On September 1, 2022, Zaini, now a Court of Appeal judge,

00:43dismissed a last-minute application by Rosma to stop him from presiding over her case.

00:50She had sought to disqualify Zaini after a purported draft of his judgment

00:54was published by the late blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin.

00:58That same day, Zaini convicted her of soliciting RM187.5 million and receiving RM6.5 million

01:06in bribes from former Jepak Holdings Managing Director Saidi Abang Samsuddin through her aide Rizal

01:12Mansur. Zaini sentenced her to 10 years jail for each of the three charges to run concurrently and

01:20ordered her to pay a RM970 million fine or face another 10 years in prison.
