00:00The Bataling Jaya Sessions Court has found the mother of the late 6-year-old autistic boy, Zane Ryan Abdul-Matin, guilty of neglect.
00:08Judge Shaliza Warno delivered the verdict this morning, ruling that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt against 30-year-old Ismaneera Abdul-Manaf.
00:18Ismaneera faces a maximum 20 years in prison, a fine of 50,000 ringgit or both.
00:24Proceedings continued with mitigation submissions by Ismaneera's counsel and aggravation submissions by the prosecution.
00:31Ismaneera and her husband, Zaym Ikwan Zahari, 30, were charged last year with neglecting their son in a manner likely to cause him physical harm.
00:39The alleged offense took place at PJU Damansaradamai between noon on December 5, 2023, when Zane was reported missing,
00:46and 9.55pm the next day when his body was found in a stream near his home at Apartment Idaman Damansaradamai.
00:53Zaym was acquitted in July after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against him.
