00:05has been appointed to the Judicial Appointments Commission, replacing Zabaria Yusof, who retired last month.

00:12Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made the appointment pursuant to Section 5, Subsection 1, Paragraph E of the JAC Act 2009.

00:20The provision states that the appointment of a fifth federal court judge is the sole prerogative of the prime minister.

00:28Checks showed that the JAC website now lists Theriruddin as one of the commission's nine members.

00:34A Government Gazette notification cited by FMT said his two-year appointment took effect from November 15.

00:41Theriruddin, 57, was Attorney General prior to his elevation to the Apex Court a year ago.
