00:07by assuming that DAP's trouncing in the Sabah state election

00:11meant it was entirely rejected by the Chinese and business communities, says an analyst.

00:18Bil Cherbala of University Malaysia Sabah said,

00:21the Sabahan Chinese rejection of DAP was more a rejection of parties that failed to champion Sabah and its rights.

00:30He said Azmin had misread Sabahan voters' sentiments when he stated that the main factor behind DAP's defeats

00:38was the failures of Pucca Jaya in implementing reforms.

00:44Sabahan activist Johan Arifin Samad said,

00:47the Sabah election was merely a battle between two local parties, Gabongan Rakyat Sabah and Warisan.

00:54He said the other West Malaysian parties such as Pakatan Harapan, PN and Barisan Nacional were casualties of the battle.

01:04Lee Kwok Tiong, also of UMS, believes that there was some merit to Azmin's statement.

01:09He said the Sabahan Chinese rejection of DAP and PH involved both Sabah-centric sentiments and disgruntlement with issues

01:18like the cost of living, recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate issued by Chinese medium schools,

01:25and other key reforms pledged in past election manifestos.
