00:09using a racial slur against him in a video posted online.
00:13Acting for Aminul, law firm Louis & Bullar said the term was used in a video posted on April 17th
00:20on multiple platforms, including Facebook and YouTube, as well as in an episode of Rafizi's Yang Berhenti Mentiri podcast.
00:28The firm also said Rafizi had republished parts of a Bloomberg article that is the subject of an ongoing civil
00:36suit by translating it into Bahasa Malaysia.
00:39It contended that the statements were defamatory, maintaining that Aminul was not involved in corrupt practices, had not defrauded migrant
00:47workers and was not evading legal action.
00:49The letter dated April 21st demanded that Rafizi apologise within seven days, retract the statements and cease using the term.
00:59The firm warned that Aminul would lodge a police report and file a civil suit seeking damages if the apology
01:06is not issued.
01:07In response, Rafizi said he has asked his lawyers to handle the matter, while a separate suit involving Bloomberg is
01:14set to be heard on June 26th.
