00:09High Court Judge Mahazan Mataib recorded the settlement on the third day of trial today
00:14and thanked both parties for reaching an amicable resolution.
00:18In a statement read out in court, Najib said he accepted that Zulkifli had no involvement
00:23in the appointment of the Amanah man's daughter, Nurul Iman,
00:27to Amanah Ikhtia Malaysia's Board of Trustees in October 2018.
00:32The former Pekan MP said the intention of his Facebook post, published in 2020,
00:38was to serve as a general political commentary on broader issues of governance,
00:42administration and appointments to government-linked entities.
00:46Zulkifli, 70, filed the RM5 million suit in January 2022,
00:50alleging that Najib had published a defamatory Facebook post about him on August 24, 2020.
00:58He claimed the post was intended to damage his reputation by implying that he practised nepotism
01:03by securing his daughter's appointment to the Board of Amanah Ikhtia Malaysia.
