00:00Former Armed Forces Chief Nizam Jafar pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur session's court here today

00:06to forward charges of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, and receiving bribes totaling over 3.75 million ringgit.

00:15On the first charge, Nizam was accused of abusing his position as chairman of the Executive Committee of the Armed Forces Welfare Fund

00:22and Assistant Chief of Staff of the Malaysian Armed Forces to obtain gratification amounting to 267,481 ringgit.

00:33On the second charge, Nizam was accused of abusing his position to obtain gratification amounting to 285,000 ringgit

00:41by appointing QMZ Resources to supply bath towels for Hari Raya gift packages in 2025.

00:48The first two charges were made under Section 23, sub 1 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009

00:55for abusing his position as an officer of a public body to obtain a bribe for himself, his relatives, or associates.

01:03On the third charge, Nizam was accused of misappropriating 3 million ringgit of Tikat funds

01:08by making an additional investment in Precious Amber International Berhard

01:13without obtaining approval from the Tikat Investment Committee.

01:16The charge was framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code for Criminal Breach of Trust.

01:22On the fourth charge, Nizam was accused of accepting a bribe of 200,000 ringgit in cash

01:28from one Shafi Abdul Rashid, a director of Aspen Red, Sindrian Berhard,

01:32with the charge framed under Section 165 of the Penal Code.
