00:00He's going to have no problems getting out of this plastic prison.
00:04Here's a look at McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Gold Label Collection, New Gods, Mr. Miracle.
00:08Born a new god in utopian new Genesis, Scott was raised as a slave on a grim planet of Apocalypse.
00:33However, he refused to let his spirit be broken, escaping to become Mr. Miracle,
00:38a symbol of freedom, and a sworn enemy of Apocalypse evil ruler, Darkseid.
00:42It's a miracle I even found this figure, and so soon too.
00:46I actually grabbed this on the Facebook selling group from Popeye the Toy Man,
00:48which you probably have noticed as of late.
00:52The last, in fact, a couple of DC Multiverse figures we've looked at here have all actually come from him.
00:57If you want to currently check out the wares that he has, you can click the link down below in the video description.
01:01Back though to Miracles, and specifically Mr. Miracle.
01:04Let's take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:06But, yeah, Mr. Miracle is going to be almost 7 inches in height,
01:10working out to be a figure that's about 17 and a half centimeters tall.
01:15Yeah, missing the chance to get Orion.
01:17Going to still see if I can get that one, because I'd like to collect the new gods on my shelf.
01:21I have at least, though, Darkseid.
01:22Even though he's really not, he's not really technically the Darkseid I would like to have on my shelf.
01:27I'd like to really 86 the cape altogether.
01:29He at least, though, is a nice looking figure.
01:31I do hope they're going to repurpose that mold and get another one before the license runs out.
01:35Speaking of new gods, and probably not the right scale, here's also what the figure looks like with Calibac.
01:41I'm sure, though, we're probably going to be getting a classic Calibac, because I think the sizing of this one is just way too big.
01:46He shouldn't be the same size as Darkseid.
01:48He actually should be meeting somewhere in the middle of these two.
01:51Now, Mr. Miracle was also part of several different affiliates, one of which that comes to my mind was Justice League International, a line of comics that I collected a lot as a kid.
02:01Let's bring in some of those alumni.
02:02It's not necessarily all in the order here, but here's what the figure looks like with Captain Marvel.
02:07Here's Dr. Fate.
02:08And one of my personal favorites.
02:10Here's what the figure looks like with, I believe, the Silver Age Batman.
02:13Come to think of it, I think I still have my DC Universe classics, Mr. Miracle.
02:17Probably sitting somewhere in a plastic tote, trying to find his way out.
02:21The figure, though, in the meantime, and why I actually think of that, Mr. Miracle, is that there's one accessory I feel that the DC Multiverse lacks not having.
02:31Before we talk about that one thing, let's talk about another thing.
02:33The figure does come in clear with a black display stand.
02:36No hard time making out the fact that there's a DC logo down below here in a very bright white.
02:40In walking distance, there is still a peg.
02:42I still feel the placement of the peg should be more up here, and the DC logo turned this way.
02:48It should be right around the bottom.
02:49But, you know, that's my own personal opinion.
02:51Nice that we still get ourselves a DC stand, even though the licensing of what Todd's going to have for this is kind of walking its way out.
02:58The figure does also come in clear with a trading card.
03:01While I can't really make out who the characters are on either side of Mr. Miracle, I feel like that's Big Barter over there.
03:06Do we have a Big Barter yet?
03:07I know we have an Orion.
03:09Do we have Lightspeed?
03:10I feel like there's still a couple of characters, the new gods, we could still get.
03:13On the back of the card, his real name is Scott Free.
03:16Irony is not lost when it comes to the creation of this character.
03:18It's a very small paragraph read, too.
03:20I mean, that's, you don't even really need to stop for a second and say, oh, I've got to go get myself a drink and come back and read the back of this card.
03:26No, you could read that.
03:28Do your thing of whatever you need to do.
03:30Go to the washroom, grab yourself a drink, grab yourself, you know, a sandwich.
03:33You could easily, I'm sure, read that paragraph just like that.
03:37It took me to read that just like that.
03:40Let's move the card over here just like that.
03:42And look at also the fact the character comes included with his flight discs.
03:46These discs, though, would be attached onto the bottoms of the figure's feet.
03:49I know you're thinking right away, oh, wait a minute.
03:51You've already sold us on the idea that the figure does have a display stand.
03:55He can't have this and he can't have these at the same time.
03:58No, he can't.
03:58There's no peg on the bottom of this, so it's not like it can really, I guess, if anything, you could probably put yourself the stand, the little discs, just on either side of the display stand like that.
04:09I don't know if I'm just, if I'm likely going to be, oh, I just dropped the disc.
04:12I knew I was going to do this.
04:14Where's the disc?
04:14It's right down there.
04:16Try to escape on me.
04:17Likely, if I'm going to be displaying the figure, I think, with these discs, I have really no need then to have them displayed with this.
04:22So that's just 86 that altogether.
04:24No, these discs, what's kind of interesting about them is to look at them, you would think that they're identical.
04:30And yet, though, they felt the need to tell you that one side is specifically for L or left and the other is R or right.
04:38Was that really necessary?
04:39Was that all that necessary?
04:41Because let's say we break against that wind and the rules of having these to go on specific sides.
04:46Say let's choose that up.
04:48Instead, we put the R on this side.
04:50Oh, oh, wait, wait a minute.
04:52This rule breaker over here is now all of a sudden taking the disc and putting it on the opposite foot.
04:56Just to more show you guys that it doesn't really matter.
04:59You could put an L and an R.
05:00R and L on either side.
05:02It doesn't really matter.
05:02You could put them on either side of the figure's feet.
05:05And then, of course, you can have Mr. Miracle displayed that way.
05:09Now, though, as I kind of think back why I was mentioning the DC Universe Classics, Mr. Miracle,
05:14from what I remember, the figure did also have shackles that were not necessarily ones that had to wrap all the way around his arms,
05:20but kind of gave you the suggested idea.
05:22They were just more softed, molded plastic, and they basically would just attach onto the tops of his forearms.
05:27I feel like they could have done something similar here to Mr. Miracle.
05:30I mean, sure, fine, it's good that we get ourselves R and L discs on the bottoms of his feet.
05:35But I think a little bit of plastic could have also gone a long way and give this man shackles.
05:39Maybe, though, we may get ourselves another Mr. Miracle before the line runs out.
05:43Maybe that figure might also have shackles.
05:45I don't really know.
05:46But the discs, in the meantime, we're going to move him off to the side and get a closer look at Mr. Miracle.
05:51He's a nice-looking figure.
05:52Unfortunately, though, he suffers from one other problem, is that he doesn't have a fabric cape.
05:57A new release, though, from McFarlane Toys, and I think what ended up happening, too,
06:01is they're probably using this mold again, maybe from Martian Manhunter, I would imagine.
06:06And that Martian Manhunter probably would have also used, yeah, he did use a fabric, a plastic cape.
06:10So they had to borrow over some, I'm sure, of the molds to get the Mr. Miracle here.
06:15And unfortunately, the trade-off means that the figure does also have to have a plastic cape.
06:19The plastic cape, don't get me wrong, it's not bad at all.
06:21But I think we've now been so kind of spoiled by having fabric capes that plastic capes,
06:27it just kind of feels like we're going backwards a little bit.
06:30If you overlook the fact that he does have the plastic cape, I mean, it's still a nice-looking
06:34plastic cape that he gets.
06:35The sculpting looks really good on this.
06:37And it also goes really well by having, like, I don't know if we've ever actually gotten
06:41ourselves a fabric cape that has a collar like this.
06:44I would imagine that would be a hard thing to pull off, because you'd have to probably
06:47put a wire in the top of that, too.
06:49If not, for that, it would just kind of go, and it would just, you know, obviously it would
06:52just fall on the figure.
06:54Sculpt-wise, for the face, I think it's pretty good.
06:57Now, generally, though, Mr. Miracle tends to have, if I just bring in the card as the example,
07:02more slitted eyes.
07:03They went more with kind of a classic look to the character, where the eyes are a little
07:07bit smaller.
07:08I think the face looks still pretty good.
07:10You're probably also noticing something I noticed right away when I opened this guy's
07:13packaging up and took the figure out the first time.
07:16There is this little mark right there.
07:19Now, I thought it was paint.
07:21The more, though, I run my finger across it, I feel like it's a bit of chipped plastic.
07:25That's really disappointing.
07:27I'm going to see if maybe I can color match that and find a yellow that's close enough in
07:30proximity.
07:31Maybe I can actually just put a little bit of paint right there and cover over his
07:35blemish.
07:36Ah, such a shame.
07:38Other than that, though, like, the face looks pretty good on Mr. Miracle as well.
07:42The yellow that they've used here for the torso is pretty close in color.
07:46I don't think, though, that the bicep colors are really the same color.
07:49It almost kind of looks like the bicep color is one shade darker.
07:53Something also, too, unfortunately, with Mr. Miracle is that when it comes to the plastic
07:56of his hinge joints, the yellow, I think, is more noticeable than the red.
08:00The red is still something that you'll see isn't really quite the same color as the thigh
08:04or the lower leg below it.
08:05The arms, unfortunately, though, it's this weird off-colored yellow that clearly looks
08:11out of place when you're looking at the yellow that's so good on either side of it.
08:14The green looks pretty good, too.
08:16Unfortunately, though, like, you've got the yellow peg right there.
08:19I mean, yeah, they probably could have maybe taken a peg and used that as green because,
08:24well, unfortunately, I guess the one problem with that is if you did the green on the top,
08:27it would then stand out like a sore thumb because you'd have a green peg right here, too.
08:32It's just the one little bit of yellow plastic I just don't think looks great.
08:36Also, when you're bending it, too, it doesn't look as bad, but I just kind of wish that the
08:40color could have been a little bit closer to the yellow that was around it.
08:43The figure doesn't have any swappable hands at all.
08:46Gestured hands could have gone also a really long way.
08:50So if you swapped it out, you could have also given him some, you know, just expression hands.
08:53It's something a little bit more than what he's doing right now.
08:55This hand also does really look like it should be holding something.
08:58But by listing all the accessories that we've already covered off,
09:01you know that he doesn't have anything else but the floating discs.
09:04He has a closed fist also on the other side, too, so that you're pretty much going to be
09:07stuck with those unless you find yourself like a green-figured hand.
09:11Maybe like a robin, for example, that's had gestured hands.
09:13Something close enough in this color.
09:15Then I'm sure you probably could match and pull those off, swapping out with those instead.
09:19I like the look of the buckle.
09:20That looks pretty good.
09:21He's got this, he always really had like a large belt there on the front of his torso.
09:25Adding some nice gold goes a long way as well.
09:28I mean, like if you lift up the cape, you can see that it's gold all the way around.
09:31And the paint's pretty well painted.
09:33The belt does look like, though, it's a separate piece from his trunks.
09:36So instead of having to worry about retooling this from scratch,
09:40likely, though, they probably have just taken the torso of the trunks from another figure
09:43and then just only sculpted and molded this from the press.
09:47And then they would just only have put that on top of his trunks.
09:49The red down below looks good.
09:50You got some nice gold there on the front that matches that of the belt.
09:54I think all in all, he's a well-painted figure.
09:56The only thing that really does stand out, though, also, obviously, is the chip on the top of the forehead.
10:00That's probably exclusive to the figure that I unfortunately picked up.
10:03But also, yeah, the yellow.
10:05I just kind of wish that the yellow would look a little bit nicer than what it does.
10:08For Mr. Miracle's articulation, the figure does have a ball joint in the head.
10:13The collar gets out of the way altogether, so it's easy to rotate the head all the way around.
10:17You can also move the head up and down, and you can also move it back and forth.
10:22The top of his torso, if you can get in there at least, is on a good ball joint.
10:27And lower from that, you can also have a ball joint in his abdomen area.
10:29So there's quite a bit of movement you can do with both.
10:32The arms rotate all the way around.
10:34They're going to get a little in the way of things when it starts to rub up against the cape.
10:38The figure's arms do pull off a 90-degree angle bend or that T-pose.
10:42There's a bicep swivel, a double hinge on the elbow, and the hands rotate all the way around.
10:47As for his legs, his legs down below here on ratcheted joints.
10:51Oh, such a soothing sound as we look at the groin of Mr. Miracle.
10:55Stop that!
10:56But the legs, as you can see, or here more so, are on ratcheted joints.
11:00Just stop for a second. Stop for a second.
11:05I don't know if I would necessarily count that as ASMR, especially where we're actually doing the part.
11:11But the legs do move forward and back.
11:13There's a little bit of a swivel there at the top of the thigh.
11:15Double hinge on the knee, really tight on the knees.
11:18That's not necessarily a bad thing.
11:20If you all look in the bend of the figure's knees in a more dynamic pose,
11:24I'd probably recommend maybe heating these legs in hot water.
11:28This leg isn't so bad.
11:30This leg right here is super tight.
11:33The leg down below here, or at least the boot, is one continued sculpt from the lower calf.
11:38So there's nothing at all you can do with the boot back and forth.
11:41Don't try to force it because it's not going to be going anywhere.
11:44Ankle pivot up and down.
11:45You've got your ankle rocker there as well.
11:47And as most times be the case, the figure does also have toe articulation.
11:52Toe articulation.
11:53So get a look at those.
11:54It's not going to have the kind of snap that we got for the tops of the legs,
11:57but still it's pretty satisfying to be able to bend the toes.
12:00Bend the toes for Mr. Miracle.
12:02All in all, a good looking figure.
12:04Unfortunately, though, I have to kind of look at this based at least on the one that I've got.
12:07I'm disappointed that it had that chip on the top of his head.
12:11I mean, there's really no way that I would have known that.
12:13Again, like Popeye the Toy Man had bought that from him.
12:15I don't think he probably would have even noticed, though,
12:17that there was that little chip on the top of the head.
12:20Outside of that, I feel like the coloring of the pegs,
12:23I know they tried to do their best to kind of color match as well as they could.
12:26But the yellow, clearly, though, for his bicep and his forearms,
12:29isn't quite really gelling with the color that they've used for the peg.
12:32I also feel like the figure could have used some accessories as well.
12:35I mean, the staple is that the figure will always come and include with a trading card
12:38and also will always include a display stand.
12:41Then, of course, he also gets himself the discs that can attach onto the bombs of his feet.
12:44And just though one better, I wonder if I could find that figure.
12:49I would be curious to see if the shackles they had for the Mr. Miracle before
12:53would actually be able to fit on the forearms of this guy.
12:55I really feel like as being like the master of escapes,
12:58this guy should have had something to shackle him,
13:00just something that you could imprison him away and find a way for him to escape.
13:04Still, though, he gets himself the pegs, the little floating discs.
13:07It's still funny, though, that they would actually put L and R on the bottom.
13:10Not that it really matters.
13:12I mean, like the pegs are exactly the same.
13:14The shape and thickness of the discs are exactly the same.
13:17Why they felt the need to add L and R is just beyond me.
13:21I like the look at Mr. Miracle, being that, of course,
13:23I'm sure he's borrowed over the body from like probably Martian Manhunter,
13:26which I also did have a Martian Manhunter in my tote somewhere.
13:29I would think, though, that that's probably the reason why he doesn't have a fabric cape.
13:34Had they maybe used the mold from scratch,
13:36you know, maybe they designed the torso from scratch.
13:40Maybe it could have then been the opportunity that Mr. Miracle could have had a fabric cape.
13:43But as it is what it is, the figure is still a nice accompanying piece,
13:47something that's going to look great with the other figures that I have on my shelf.
13:50Right now, though, I only really have from a new god's standpoint,
13:54the dark side, the Calibac.
13:56Hope to pick up Orion at some point.
13:58And hopefully that we're going to be getting a big bar down below,
14:00down further before the line actually cancels itself off.
14:04I know, again, like McFarland Toys is losing the license.
14:06I think we're, for really the fact that the license is ending, I think, in about a year or so,
14:12Todd and his team still continue to churn out more figures and more figures and more figures.
14:16So even though there is an end in sight, you might not be able to see it.
14:20But despite that, he's putting out still a lot of figures.
14:23And I'm glad that he had the chance to put up Mr. Miracle,
14:26because he's overall a nice looking figure.
14:28Out the gate and running, McFarland Toys from day one have included display stands with their figures.
14:32Whether it be the traditional black stand that has a DC logo that's changed over the years,
14:37the original blocky D and C, not really was my jam.
14:40I like the look of the classic DC logo that they're using now.
14:43It's not, though, in the best place, if you ask me.
14:45I feel like the peg probably should have been in an opposite corner to where the DC logo is going.
14:50But when it comes to displaying Mr. Miracle, likely, though, we'll be going with his flight discs.
14:55I might also be using another stand that has accompanied some of the figures over the years,
15:00a flight stand. I can understand for how much plastic that would have been invested to include
15:05a flight stand, why they chose not to include it.
15:08I still probably will end up having the figure displayed with a flight stand,
15:11so it kind of does look like he's levitating on those discs.
15:14Strange, really, though, that the discs still have L and R on them,
15:17when it's really redundant that the shape of the stands and the pegs are exactly the same.
15:23The figure, I still feel, could have really used some sort of shackles,
15:26shackles, something you could have attached onto his forearms.
15:29The DC Universe Classics had that right with their Mr. Miracle release.
15:33That figure had those shackles.
15:35I don't think, from what I remember, did he have the floating discs?
15:38Maybe I think he did.
15:40Still, though, I really am happy to finally have a Mr. Miracle I could put on display.
15:44This makes me even more interested now to get my hands on Orion.
15:47I looked online just to see what other new gods they have released.
15:50I think up to this point, Big Barda still is M.I.A.
15:53Whether, though, she is going to get a release before the license runs its course,
15:57time will only tell, but I'm glad at least now to have a Mr. Miracle.
16:01What do you guys think of the figure?
16:02Let me know down below in the comments section.
16:03Now, if you guys are interested and would like to get Mr. Miracle as part of your collection,
16:07you can click the link down below and check out Popeye the Toyman over on the Facebook group.
16:12In fact, all the last three figures that we've looked at have all come from him.
16:16So if you wanted to obviously go back and look at the Monarch review that I've done,
16:20and then, of course, after that, I had a look at Sandman.
16:24That and, of course, Mr. Miracle have all come from Popeye the Toyman.
16:28So a big thank you for him for obviously having the figures available.
16:31If you guys did enjoy this video, do it a solid come on now and hit it with a like.
16:35You guys want to stick around for more so?
16:37I hope so.
16:38I'm not sure really how much more DC Multiverse we're going to have in the pipeline for the rest of this week,
16:42but there certainly will be, though, more videos coming your way.
16:45As always, guys, thanks for watching.
16:47See you guys next time.
16:50See you next time.
