00:00Think you'll be fast enough to grab her while she's still in stock?
00:03Here's a look at the Mattel Master Universe Thundercats, Chitara, fastest feline in the universe.
00:22Beware, forces of evil.
00:24Nothing in the universe can match the speed of the Thundercats' ferocious warrior, Chitara.
00:28Master Universe and Thundercats, two iconic 80s action figure brands, come together to bring an exciting and nostalgic collaboration to life.
00:35Key Thundercats characters are reinterpreted in Turian style, and Master Universe characters are interpreted in Thundercats style.
00:42These MOTU Origins toys at 5.5-inch scale have 16 points of articulation and deluxe detail with armor accessories and modular body parts.
00:52While one thing is at least good about the origins of these Thundercats, they manage to still keep their clothes on.
00:56Before we get a closer look at the Thundercats' MOTU Chitara, let's take the tape measure, shall we, as we always do, and see how tall the figure stands.
01:04Boy, oh boy, I have had a hard time trying to get my hands on any of these Thundercats figures.
01:08In fact, Chitara right here, I managed to order on Amazon and had waited days and days, hoping that she was finally going to arrive.
01:14Finally, just calling it quits, I ordered a second Chitara, and wouldn't you know it, they happened to arrive on the exact same day.
01:21Witchcraft?
01:22Likely not.
01:23Just the lack of interest over on Amazon to actually ship these things on time.
01:27Anyways, though, the figure's going to stand at 5.5 inches in height.
01:30She is.
01:30You can see it for yourself.
01:32That's going to work out to be a figure, though, that's 14 centimeters tall.
01:35Providing the ever-important size comparisons, Chitara really isn't all that much different when it comes to the builds and the bodies of the original Origins figures.
01:42As the example here, I'm bringing the Origins Teela.
01:45Decided to keep the headdress on her, just because it looks a little bit more like the vintage toy.
01:49Not really looking, though, much like the vintage toy.
01:51Here's also what she looks like with the purple-clad colorings of Evil Lynn.
01:55They're also using a very similar style of body, obviously, as the cartoon collection.
01:58So if you were to, say, bring in, like, Chitara and compare along with a She-Ra,
02:02I don't think you'd be wrong at all to have them displayed with the cartoon collection figures.
02:06Now, we've made very little progress when it comes to the Master Yen vs. Thundercats line.
02:10In fact, the only figure that we've actually managed to pick up, succeeded to pick up, was Skell-Ra, though I like to display him as Mom-Ra.
02:18Now, let's look at the paper pamphlet, La.
02:21Stop that.
02:22If you look at the paper pamphlet, it's actually only just one printed side sheet.
02:26On one side, you can actually see that if you want to get the more in the classic look of the Thundercats,
02:30you can actually strip down the armor, and you can actually have her looking like Chitara over here.
02:34Or, the arrow goes both ways, by the way, so if you don't really necessarily want to have her looking like Chitara,
02:39you can certainly have her armored up more in the Eternian style.
02:42Or, if you're lucky enough, like myself, who now have two Chitaras,
02:46you could actually pull off the look successfully with both figures.
02:54Moving our focus now over to the mini-comic, if I can providingly pick up the comic,
02:57we get ourselves Third Eternia.
03:00That's the, actually, name of the comic, the mini-comic here.
03:03On the one side, though, we have ourselves a really cool-looking Lion-O,
03:06and on the other side, an equally cool He-Man.
03:09Down below, as well, we've also got ourselves what looks to be Battle Cat Man,
03:12I think that's the name that they're going with,
03:14and also Chitara down front and center.
03:16On the back, though, by the way, there's some advertisements of Lion-O, don't have him yet.
03:20Battle Cat Man, I have him currently on order over on Amazon.
03:24They're actually saying, though, that he's going to be delivering on Monday.
03:26Hey, I'm recording this video during the weekends,
03:29so we'll see come Monday if this actually does show up or not.
03:32If we flip, though, through the comics,
03:34the one thing I will say right away is that the illustrations inside look a lot better
03:38than the latest offerings we've gotten from Master Universe,
03:41or, for that matter, Master Universe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
03:44with a collaboration between those two.
03:46You can really see, though, like this styling of art looks really impressive.
03:49I'm not disputing necessarily.
03:51Perhaps, for all I know, it's probably done by the exact same artist.
03:54But there's something, though, I don't know, these pages.
03:57I think the illustration looks a whole lot better.
03:58There's Skelra, by the way.
04:01I'm kind of even tempted to get myself a second Skelra,
04:04so I can actually have them displayed both as Mumra.
04:06This is the rabbit hole I know I really don't want to be going down.
04:09I'm going to move the comic off to the side,
04:10as this is so far the only example I have with...
04:12Obviously, I don't have the other two figures just yet,
04:14so let's move that off to the side.
04:16So, essentially, how it worked with Chitara,
04:18as you kind of already saw with the printed sheets,
04:20is that she comes included with Chitara parts,
04:22if you want to display her as a Thundercat Chitara.
04:25Or you can also have her displayed in her Eternian armor.
04:28Either way, though, the weapon that she can wield,
04:30the figure does come included with her very famous staff.
04:33Staff here is cast all in yellow plastic.
04:36Not super flexible, but at least it does the job.
04:39And obviously, you can have it displayed in her hands.
04:41Now, you may be already looking at this right away and saying,
04:43hey, wait a minute.
04:44Humbled reviewer, magic storyteller.
04:46I couldn't help but also notice.
04:47Does she not also have the staff over here as well?
04:50Well, she does.
04:51You can actually take this off if you want.
04:54And it almost looks like she's now got the retracted version of the staff.
04:56Now, ideally, though, because it's also the exact same size,
05:00you can also put that in her arm like this.
05:02Not drop it, mind you.
05:03You can put and clip this into her form.
05:06And for all intents and purposes,
05:07she could use it as something to clothesline people.
05:09Somebody's just kind of coming along.
05:10She goes, wham!
05:11Not on Chitara's watch.
05:14And that's a little silly,
05:15but that's obviously one way you can have this displayed, too.
05:17And really, too, if you don't really like this gauntlet,
05:19you could just take the gauntlet completely off
05:21and leave this completely,
05:23you know, as you would want to have her displayed
05:24as just regular Chitara.
05:26I will be doing that shortly, though.
05:28Let's kind of move everything out of the way.
05:29Those accessories, by the way,
05:31to swap her out to classic Chitara.
05:33She comes included with her hairpiece.
05:35Now, you'll see, though, the difference between the two.
05:37Her hair is a little, I would say, longer of lock.
05:40She doesn't actually have as many of the curls.
05:42She does also have herself like a headdress piece.
05:45Really like the look of that, though.
05:47So it looks like it has the Eye of Thundair in the middle there.
05:50The coloring of the face, obviously, is not going to change
05:52whether you want to have this piece, this hairpiece,
05:54or you want to go with this one.
05:56She does also have now a Thundercat's armor.
05:58Now, this armor can be slid off her torso.
06:01It does also have the skirting down below here, too.
06:03So this is all essentially one piece.
06:05You can take that off.
06:06You can also take off the gauntlet piece
06:07that holds the staff.
06:10They also really even say, too, in the instructions,
06:11which I guess I probably shouldn't have so quickly thrown away.
06:13Where is it?
06:14Where is it?
06:14It's right over here.
06:16If you look at, actually, one thing that they do remove,
06:19she has her bracelet.
06:20The bracelet is technically a separate piece.
06:25I'm trying to get that all out.
06:26Technically, the bracelets can be removed if you want to.
06:29You just basically take her off her hand
06:31and just shimmy, shimmy, shimmy, slide it off the forearm.
06:34I think, though, for Chetar,
06:35I'm going to choose to keep the bracelet on
06:37just to show you, though.
06:38It is here.
06:40It's not here over here.
06:41All right.
06:44Going back, though, to the figure,
06:45the sculpting and the paint looks really good on her.
06:47I do like the use of this blue that they've used.
06:50I kind of almost even feel bad,
06:51the fact that I want to revert her back
06:52to her kind of classic, you know,
06:55original Thundercats cartoon look for the character.
06:57Of course, she does have the spots there on the shoulders
06:59all across her neck.
07:00These are spots I'm sure that will be a little bit more visible
07:02once we've removed the armor.
07:04Armor, for the most part, does really look good on it.
07:07It's soft enough plastic, too,
07:08so if you do really decide you want to keep this on the figure,
07:11it doesn't necessarily limit any bit of posability.
07:13She's more than fine to still move her legs forward and back,
07:16and all the fun stuff that you can also do with most of these figures,
07:19there's nothing really at all restricting her by the armor.
07:22Let's just say you're the person that, like myself,
07:25maybe want to have her displayed with all this armor off.
07:27Well, the easiest thing that you really can do is,
07:30first of all, just kind of detach her from the torso.
07:32So I just find it kind of a little more easier
07:35because you can obviously slide off the shoulder straps
07:38and then just kind of shimmy the armor completely off.
07:41You can also take her arms off, too.
07:42Now, there may very well be an easier way to do this.
07:44I just find that this is the easiest way.
07:47You don't really even have to remove the head,
07:48but detaching certainly the arms is the best advice.
07:51Take these straps here, slide them down.
07:54Oh, this almost even sounds like we're doing a tutorial.
07:56And then once the straps are down enough,
08:00you're basically just going to take the whole armor piece
08:02and slide it off her body, just like that.
08:05What's nice, though, is that they actually thought this out
08:07and they finished the body underneath,
08:09so it does look like classic Chitara.
08:11So if you don't necessarily want to have the armor,
08:13this armor I'm sure you probably could even use
08:14for another female figure.
08:16And this basically is what you're going to be getting left behind.
08:18Now, before we do anything really else,
08:20let's take the body, snap it back in place.
08:24We can go ahead and do the exact same thing.
08:25We'll pop the arms back in.
08:27And the arms are actually pretty easy, too.
08:28You'll see that basically all they are is just long pegs,
08:31and they snap in really securely.
08:35Do the same thing on this side, too.
08:39Make sure we have that all the way in there.
08:41There we go.
08:42And I guess we can also take this off, too.
08:43Now, I almost even feel like in the cartoon
08:45she had something like this.
08:47If you want to leave it on, you can leave it on.
08:49If you want to detach it, it's just a case of obviously just...
08:52that's all you really have to do.
08:53Again, I'm going to choose to leave the bracelets on
08:55and the bracelets are technically a separate piece.
08:58Why was that such a hard thing to say?
09:01Technically, it was a separate piece.
09:03As you can see, you can move these all around.
09:05The last thing you really want to do with Chatar
09:06is just kind of take off her hairpiece.
09:09It's a little jarring.
09:10She actually kind of looks like the girl from Star Trek,
09:12the motion picture.
09:13Feature, feature.
09:14Then from there, we're going to take ourself the hairpiece of Chatar.
09:18And when you put it in,
09:19it helps to kind of really slide it from the back to the front.
09:22Kind of bring everything further forward
09:24until eventually we get ourselves going.
09:26And that's Chatar.
09:27That's basically just like yourself,
09:28your classic cartoon Chatar.
09:31Again, she certainly has a lot more clothing
09:33than she does in that pilot episode.
09:34What was that all about?
09:35How did that pass the ratings board?
09:38Head sculpt, again, doesn't really change all that much.
09:41Eyes look good.
09:42Again, she's kind of got like something
09:43you'd almost even expect from Jem and the Holograms.
09:46Really nice painted lips there as well.
09:49Now, the figure's articulation,
09:50though I have done all this work to take the armor off,
09:53doesn't really technically change anything on her.
09:55Head's going to be on a ball joint.
09:56So yeah, I can still fully move the head around,
09:58down, up, back and forth.
09:59Technically really all the way around too.
10:02Arms also are going to rotate all the way around.
10:04No issues there.
10:05You can bring the arms out comfortably at a T pose.
10:07She has only still a single hinge in the elbow.
10:09You can rotate, though, the forearm back and forth
10:11and the hands rotate all the way around.
10:14The waist does swivel.
10:16Technically, it also would have really swiveled
10:17if the armor was there as well,
10:18but being that I just chose to take that off,
10:20she has nice ball joints there.
10:21Oh, actually, that's one thing too.
10:23She does have these fur boots.
10:25This is a look that really, if you want to do away with,
10:28it's just a case of popping these off.
10:30These were actually the hardest thing I had to remove.
10:33I had a real tough time taking these off.
10:35These boots, these feet, will also have to detach as well.
10:38And again, this is a lot of extra work
10:40that you might find yourself not really thinking
10:42you need to do, but you're going to have to do.
10:44I'm just going to pop these off
10:45and then you're going to also take the feet off too.
10:49Now, the feet are technically just pegged in place,
10:52but again, you may have a hard time taking these off.
10:56There we go.
10:57There's one.
10:58Do the same thing on this side as well.
11:00So, I think most likely,
11:04if you're going to be buying a Chitaura,
11:05you're not going to be swapping back and forth armor
11:07every single time.
11:09Or if you're like myself,
11:11you just happen to land yourself two sealed Chitauras,
11:15then you can have her displayed in the two different ways.
11:17I'm not really even sure if I'm going to choose
11:18to open up both of them.
11:20I might just keep one sealed.
11:22But I think for me, at least,
11:23Chitaura is going to be displayed on my shelf
11:25in the classic costume.
11:27Let's get that foot all the way on there.
11:28The feet are a little on the trickier side.
11:32You may choose to maybe even heat these up
11:33a little bit in hot water too.
11:35Hey, that might help.
11:36There we go.
11:37Do we have them all the way on there?
11:38I hope we do.
11:39Twist, twist, twist.
11:40Ah, that's the snap that we wanted to hear.
11:42I completely forgot to change the boots.
11:45Now, again, we want to make sure
11:46they've got them facing the right way.
11:48Those are going to be pegged in on one side.
11:50There we go.
11:51Oh, let's try it on this side here.
11:54Pop these all the way on there.
11:56You can probably even see the amount of exertion
11:59I'm having to do just to get these on.
12:00I'll fix them up when we get to the turntable.
12:03But just to kind of, again, show you guys.
12:04There we go.
12:05Now we have a finished Chitaura
12:07complete with changed out boots.
12:09The articulation again,
12:10like she's going to have it down below here.
12:11Well, let's go back to the knees.
12:13The knees are on a single hinge.
12:14They rotate back and forth.
12:15When eventually, though,
12:16you get the boots all the way on there,
12:18the boots are also going to swivel back and forth.
12:20And now you're going to have
12:20the toe articulation down below.
12:22Pick, of course,
12:23the way you want to have the figure displayed.
12:24I would imagine, though,
12:25with the amount of exertion needed
12:27to change those boots out.
12:29That's not something that you're probably
12:30going to want to do all the time.
12:32I think you're likely going to be opening up
12:34the packaging and getting Chitaura out
12:35just so she can actually breathe some livable air.
12:38And then once you get everything kind of situated,
12:40you're probably going to decide for yourself
12:42how you're going to want to have the figure displayed.
12:43Now, I know right away,
12:44I don't have the boots completely on there.
12:45You're going to have to kind of take my advice,
12:47take my word for it,
12:48that I will swap and get everything fixed all up
12:50before this figure hits the rotisserie or turntable.
12:54So let's bring back in Mamura.
12:56Let's hope that she doesn't fall over the process.
12:58From what I also really remember,
13:00Mamura had a bit of a struggle, too,
13:01trying to change out,
13:03taking off the torso,
13:04putting on the skirt,
13:05snapping everything back in place.
13:07For me, at least,
13:07I'm fine and content
13:08just to have the figure displayed
13:10in the classic look to the Thundercats.
13:11I like that they did technically include
13:13the extra armor.
13:14So, again, if you want to swap that out,
13:16you can just go back
13:17and just re-reverse all the steps
13:19I just ended up doing,
13:20but just put the armor back in place,
13:22put the headdress back in place,
13:23and have the figure displayed that way.
13:25Or, again,
13:26certainly as a marketing sell point,
13:29getting more than one of these figures
13:30then means you can have the figure displayed
13:32in two different ways.
13:33I like the look at Chitara as she is right now.
13:35The coloring looks good.
13:36She looks, you know, again,
13:37like the costume looks exactly
13:38like she did in the series.
13:39I'm going to choose just to kind of
13:40keep the bracelets on
13:41and maybe even keep the gauntlet on
13:42on the other side.
13:43It's a nice-looking Chitara.
13:44She fits in really well,
13:45also with the scale
13:46of the other Massey Universe Origins figures.
13:48So, again, there's Tila.
13:50And, again,
13:51even if you really want to display
13:52with a cartoon collection,
13:53there's also what she looks like
13:54with She-Ra.
13:56Let me know if you guys have had luck
13:58finding these things in the wild.
14:00As a Canadian collector,
14:01I can tell you,
14:01slim to know.
14:02No pickings whatsoever
14:03to find these in the wild.
14:05Ordered some of them, at least.
14:06The Mumra, Chitara,
14:08and Battle Cat.
14:10What was his name?
14:10Battle Cat.
14:11The other character.
14:12Now I'm drawing a complete blank.
14:14Pick them all up through Amazon
14:15and through other means.
14:16I'm going to try to see
14:17if I can try to track down
14:18the remaining figures.
14:19It's a kind of cool collaboration
14:21having the Thundercats
14:22and Massey Universe.
14:23Two of the things
14:23I really liked quite a lot.
14:25I know the Turtles of Greyskull
14:26did really well,
14:27but I think I'm more excited
14:29to see what they're going to be doing
14:30with the Thundercats
14:30than I was to see
14:31what they were going to be doing
14:32with the Turtles.
14:33Now, if we were to be strict
14:34with the instructions given to us
14:36by the paper pamphlet,
14:37the pamphlet would show
14:38the parts that it would detach
14:39and take off
14:39if you don't want
14:40or having the Eternian armor on.
14:42I kind of have met
14:44somewhat in the middle.
14:45I decided to keep the gauntlet on
14:46that holds the staff,
14:47even though technically
14:48now she has two staffs.
14:49Let's deal with that.
14:51And I decided also
14:51to keep the bracelets on.
14:53Just because, though,
14:54the pamphlet tells us
14:56this is the way
14:56that you want to have her looking,
14:58you can, again,
14:58meet it somewhere in the middle.
15:00Let's say, for example,
15:01you want to take off
15:02the Eternian headdress piece
15:03that she has
15:04and just kind of keep the Chitar
15:05with the long flowing hair
15:06that she has in the cartoon.
15:08You can keep that on
15:09and keep also the armor on, too.
15:11The boots are also something
15:12that can be swapped out, too.
15:13Although, while everything
15:14was really easy on Chitar,
15:16the one kind of struggle I had,
15:17as you saw in this review,
15:18was changing out the boots.
15:20I've done it now three times.
15:21Well, no, I took them off,
15:23put them back on.
15:24I think it probably like two times.
15:25But though the times
15:26that I've done that,
15:27I didn't yield my own advice
15:28and I probably should have
15:29even heated the boots
15:30in hot water,
15:31helping just to soften up
15:33the peg just a little bit
15:34so changing out the boots,
15:35the footwear,
15:36wasn't all that difficult.
15:37Because keep in mind,
15:38you're not just going to
15:38have to change the boots.
15:39You're going to also have
15:40to detach the feet
15:41on the ends of them as well.
15:43But what do you guys think of Chitar?
15:44Not bad.
15:45Not bad at all.
15:46Again, I did order this one
15:47on Amazon.
15:48Amazon, just the way
15:49that they've been working
15:51as of late,
15:52sent me two at the exact same time.
15:53How is that even possible?
15:55I ordered a Chitar
15:56a week before the other one
15:57and she was delayed.
15:59She was delayed.
16:00She kept really saying
16:00that she was going to be
16:01delivered on the Friday,
16:02then it became the Monday.
16:03So I thought to myself,
16:04okay, I'm going to order
16:04the second one
16:05and then when at least
16:06the second one comes,
16:07if the first one
16:08hasn't been shipped,
16:09I'll just cancel
16:10and ask for a refund.
16:11Sure enough,
16:12arriving at my doorstep
16:13or my post office,
16:15both Chitars arrived,
16:16at least in separate packagings.
16:17That would have been
16:18even more the sting
16:19if they arrived
16:20the exact same box.
16:22Oh, Amazon.
