00:00Took a while to grab him, but was it because he sucked?
00:03Here's a look at the Masterverse Masterverse, the Princess of Power, Leech.
00:22This Masterverse action figure of Leech is based on the villain's appearance in Princess of Power,
00:27with the high level of detail collectors have come to expect.
00:30The 18-centimeter scale evil Master of Power Suction has 30 points of articulation,
00:34and comes with slide-on shoulder armor and bracers and removable head, whip, and crossbow weapons,
00:39both attached to his forearm.
00:41He comes beautifully packaged in a window box suitable for display.
00:45So it seems, while this guy's been catching Rebels, I've been catching Zs.
00:49Totally slept on getting the Masterverse Leech, and I don't really know why.
00:52Always really liked the character, but it seemed that Leech was always available,
00:57and maybe that was the biggest thing that was facing this figure,
01:00was the fact he never seemed like he was ever out of stock.
01:03Sure enough, though, Amazon had marked the guy down low enough that I could then finally
01:06justify why I would want to have added this guy to my shopping cart.
01:10I'm glad that I did, too, because at the time that I ordered Leech,
01:14Mattel had just recently announced that they were planning to do a new Eternia Hordak.
01:18Well, then, no more need to twist my rubber arm, and we're finally having a look at Leech.
01:24A little too late, I know, but let's first also take the tape measure,
01:28and then we'll kind of do some stuff.
01:30First, the tape measure's going to tell us that Leech is going to stand at 6 1⁄4 inches in height.
01:35That's, yeah, going to translate to a figure that's 17 centimeters tall.
01:38Speaking of a new Hordak, here's an old Hordak.
01:41This was the original New Eternia Hordak.
01:43I think that's what it was.
01:44He's scaled, certainly, in size with Leech, so if you don't have plans,
01:48maybe pick up the new release of Hordak.
01:50I mean, the look of Hordak looked fantastic.
01:52We're also getting a brand new Tila.
01:54Tila's eyes look a little wonky, but right now I know we're talking about the Princess of Power.
01:58Speaking of the Princess of Power, yeah, in fact, we did get a recent release of Princess.
02:03I don't know, many really like the look of She-Ra.
02:05I know some people really complained that this look of She-Ra really isn't their jam.
02:09I can certainly understand that.
02:10I do like the look of this She-Ra.
02:11It does kind of have kind of a bit of the original doll She-Ra mixed with, obviously,
02:17the new stuff that Mattel's kind of got planned for their designs.
02:20Bringing some other members of the Horde right now.
02:22Here's what the figure looks like with Grizzlore.
02:24Let's bring in Catra.
02:25I know Catra, unfortunately, isn't in scale now.
02:28I'm wondering, though, now that we've got ourselves a taller She-Ra,
02:31if eventually we're going to be getting...
02:32Why are you not standing?
02:34If we're not going to be planning maybe to get a brand new Catra.
02:37Here's also what she looks like with Shadow Weaver.
02:39I guess here's what Leech looks like with Shadow Weaver.
02:41And, of course, if you're going to be looking at a larger scale Leech,
02:44let's bring in some smaller figures as well.
02:46Here's not only the Cartoon Collection Leech, but also, if I can get him to stand,
02:50there's the Master Universe Origins Leech as well.
02:53Tucked into the side of the compartment space for the packaging,
02:57one will then find a whip for Leech.
02:59It's funny, though, that he both gets a whip and he also gets a crossbow.
03:02Neither, though, he has the means to hold either, because he has that suction cup hands.
03:09Stop that.
03:10He doesn't have, again, any means, which kind of is questionable.
03:13How he really manages to fire off the crossbow.
03:16We're going to talk about that more in a couple of seconds, though.
03:18Yeah, the actual whip that's kind of cool is it's got a design of Hordak's face.
03:23Of course, it does have the bat wings on the side.
03:24This guy needs to brand himself for everything.
03:27The wings, though, work also to be a clip that fits around Leech's forearm.
03:30The whip itself is made of a more softer plastic.
03:36But let's go ahead and attach that onto Leech's forearm.
03:39It's just basically a case of snapping onto his arm, and that's good to go.
03:42You don't really even have to have fingers for this at all.
03:45He basically just needs to move his arm around.
03:48Although, with the length of the whip, I can't imagine he's going to be...
03:51Unless you're standing...
03:52If you're standing this far away from Leech, I don't think you really have anything to worry about.
03:56If you get a little bit progressively closer,
03:58worry that the whip may whoosh, whoosh, right across your face.
04:03Figure does also come included with his crossbow.
04:06Now, this is the exact same crossbow that we did get before.
04:10The only thing that's actually...
04:10I shouldn't say really that.
04:12This half, this part back, is essentially the exact same crossbow.
04:16Same clip, same marker on the back there also.
04:19And it has still the kind of flame strand.
04:23The only thing that's also different, though, is...
04:25I mean, that's why I had to say it kind of is the same from the back.
04:28You look at the heads, though.
04:29The heads are very different.
04:31One kind of looks more like a gator, and it's got like a single cyclops eye.
04:35This looks to be more like a bat.
04:38Or a gargoyle, I guess.
04:40You know, you can clearly see, though, there is a difference between the two crossbows.
04:43But if you don't look at the heads, everything from that point on is the identical.
04:49These clip onto the hands or forearms, for that matter, of leech.
04:52The exact same way as the whip.
04:54Just basically clip that on.
04:55Again, I don't really know how he's firing this thing.
04:59Is it voice command?
05:00Is he just going...
05:02That's leech for fire crossbow now.
05:07I guess you don't really have to say fire crossbow now.
05:09You could probably just say fire.
05:10The crossbow itself does look good on leech's arm.
05:15I don't really feel like the figure needed to have swappable hands.
05:17If he's going to be leech, he needs to have those suction hands.
05:21The hands themselves, as you can see, I mean, not to get too close to them,
05:24have some really cool sculpting on the inside of the palm.
05:28Those that have had this figure for a while in their collection
05:30would probably be yelling right now at the monitor,
05:32I know, been there, done that.
05:33We've already got the t-shirt for that.
05:35Wait, leech came and included with a t-shirt?
05:37He does also have the same texturing on the bottoms of his feet.
05:40Luckily, though, they chose to use harder plastic.
05:43That's Mattel, by the way, when I say they.
05:46Harder plastic does ensure, at least,
05:48that the figure is going to have a means to stand properly.
05:51If they had went the route, perhaps, of the suction feet,
05:54like the original Origins leech,
05:56or, for that matter, the cartoon collection,
05:58having a harder time to stand would certainly be high on your list.
06:01Although, it seems like I have them standing fine.
06:04Leech has no problems, really, with standing.
06:06Unfortunately, though, because he doesn't have to have these suction feet like this,
06:10he loses the potential of having pickles in the bottoms of his heels.
06:14But still, the figure stands fine.
06:15I mean, I have no real issues with that at all.
06:17If you look at this guy and then you see the cues on the sides,
06:21you can kind of see that he has a very similar style of armor.
06:24The coloring, though, is very drastically different.
06:26Again, Origins went more kind of more the kind of lime skin of a,
06:30like a lime skin green,
06:32whereas then we've got the cartoon collection,
06:33kind of went with more of a minty green, like winter fresh.
06:37That's an old man mint, by the way.
06:39You can argue with that, argue with me all you want about that.
06:42But anybody that picks up winter fresh mints, you're an old man.
06:46I think younger people generally don't go anywhere near winter fresh toothpaste,
06:50mints, anything, anything winter fresh.
06:53I think that generally is just perceived to be an old person.
06:55I mean, you shouldn't say old man.
06:57And that's an old person flavor of mint.
07:00Let's move these out of the way.
07:02One thing, though, to be noting is that you can see that with both of the leeches,
07:05he does have the horde symbol on the front.
07:07They change, obviously.
07:08A little more simplified for the cartoon.
07:10A little bit more elaborate for the origins.
07:13And actually, not that much different, really,
07:15when you're looking then at the new Princess of the Horde.
07:17I say new.
07:19It's not even close to being new.
07:21The Masterverse leech has a very similar style of horde.
07:24He doesn't actually have the little wings down below here,
07:26so you kind of just cover that over with your thumb.
07:29It's a little similar.
07:31The face also, you can see, is sculpted really well there.
07:35I would imagine that this has probably been molded in the red plastic and not necessarily painted.
07:39I know this whole time of talking and comparing leeches,
07:42have we even spent any time, really, to discuss, to digest the look of leech's face?
07:48He looks really less...
07:49What would be leech, anyways?
07:51He looks kind of like a kissy...
07:53Like one of those fish.
07:56You know the fish that just have the big, giant lips.
07:57What are we even talking about?
07:58Piranhas?
07:59No, piranhas don't have large lips.
08:01Is there a fish that has large lips?
08:04Let me know.
08:05Down below.
08:06The face itself, though, while it doesn't have the evoked idea that he's got a suction cup for a face,
08:12you can kind of still get the idea that this is a face you still want to stay clear of.
08:16I do like the way they've painted the eye in there.
08:19That's a little dot of black and a dot of white.
08:21That looks nice.
08:22Again, I really like the coloring that they chose for the green.
08:25It's not the green, obviously, from the origins.
08:27Nowhere near the winter fresh green that we got from the cartoon collection.
08:29It's a green that works really well, and it works well for also the armor that he has and the shoulder pads, too.
08:36The shoulder pads, they say online, can be removed, and they can.
08:40You basically will have to, though, take the hand off and shimmy, shimmy, shimmy, cocoa puffs,
08:44all the way down his form until eventually you take off the shoulders.
08:47I can't see why, really, anybody would want to take the shoulder pads off Leech.
08:50I know, like, really, like, the cartoon collection had that.
08:54So that's one thing it sort of borrows over from.
08:56And yet, though, with the Origins version of Leech, I keep pulling these figures all in.
09:01You can see that that figure doesn't have it.
09:02So I guess if you choose to have the shoulders off, making it look a little bit more like the Origins or the Vintage Leech,
09:08shimmy, shimmy, shimmy, cocoa puff.
09:10For the figure's articulation, let's go and run through that right now.
09:13The figure does have a bulge in the head, so it allows the head to rotate all the way around.
09:17The head can only look up that high.
09:19Blinked and you missed it, I'm sure, the head can look down also that low.
09:23You can also move the head back and forth.
09:25The upper torso is going to be on, yeah, on a ball joint.
09:27The lower abdomen, not so much.
09:30Not so much of a ball joint.
09:31Instead, what you're really getting treated to instead is just a swivel, swivel, swivel, swivel.
09:36The arms rotate all the way around.
09:38The shoulders will cause a little conflict when it comes to a T-pose.
09:42You can get a little less than a T-pose, I would say.
09:45That's not quite 90, a little less than 90.
09:47What is that, like 88?
09:49I don't know.
09:50Maybe an 88-degree angle.
09:52One thing about the shoulders, though, is as you are moving the arms,
09:56if you've already moved this down his arm the first time,
09:58it sort of removes some of the friction to keep the shoulder pads in place.
10:03So kind of as you are moving the arms, you might find like these start to, you know...
10:07The figure does have a double hinge on the elbow.
10:11Yes, he does.
10:11The hands rotate all the way around.
10:13You can hinge them back and forth.
10:14And then moving down to his legs, the legs are on ball joints,
10:17so it allows the legs to do this.
10:19It also allows the legs to do this.
10:24And this as well.
10:25Yeah.
10:26There's a three-quarter of the way swivel for the thigh,
10:29so you can do this also as well with the thigh.
10:31The figure does have a double hinge on the knee.
10:33Articulation down below for the boot.
10:35Up and down ankle pivot.
10:37Back and forth rocker on the ankle as well.
10:40And that's basically leech in a nutshell.
10:41Why I slept as long as I did for this leech, I have really no idea.
10:46I love to look at leech.
10:47I think the Masterverse release of him, I can't really think either that.
10:50Are we going to get another version of leech?
10:53I don't think so.
10:54We are certainly getting a new version of Hordak.
10:56That's been announced.
10:57There's images already circulating online.
11:00He kind of looks more the color scheme of the original vintage or the origins of Hordak,
11:04so he's going to have a lot of grays, a lot of blacks.
11:06The head sculpt looks fantastic, though.
11:08So that might have been also the one thing.
11:09I shouldn't say that that was the thing that kind of nudged me to get leech.
11:12It was the price markdown on Amazon.
11:15It sort of went from $38 to about $35.
11:20I think by the time I finally pulled the trigger, leech was sitting around $27.
11:24Don't quote me on that.
11:25Don't go on Amazon's site.
11:27See, the guy has now gone back up in price and said,
11:29Hey, what's this guy doing?
11:30He's led me astray.
11:32I didn't lead you astray.
11:33I was just kind of telling you guys what I was paying for the figure at the time
11:36that this guy eventually went in my shopping cart.
11:37I'm kind of hovering.
11:38I just don't want this leech to fall.
11:40A couple of other offerings for leech.
11:42I mean, he's a character that has gotten a couple of releases.
11:45It sort of seems with every category, leech has made an appearance.
11:48The vintage, the origins, the cartoon collection with the winter fresh mint flavor.
11:53Seriously, it is only for old, old people.
11:56Now we finally have the Masterverse.
11:57I say finally, but you'd have to kind of go back about a year and a half,
12:01maybe even later than that in your time machine to see that leech came out a long time ago.
12:05So finally, though, got around to getting him because we don't,
12:07I don't think there's ever going to be another leech that we're going to be,
12:10say, I say that now.
12:12I mean, sure enough, I could have probably told you as well that we weren't ever going to be
12:15getting another Princess of Power.
12:16And then sure enough, we did get ourselves a new version of She-Ra.
12:18I think it's very unlikely that we're going to be getting another leech.
12:22Time Jumper right now, I'm sure, is jumping into the comics saying like, you know,
12:26six months from this date, Mattel just announced that they're going to be doing leech
12:31and you've got to see this.
12:32This guy looks fantastic.
12:33Swappable faces, swappable suction cups.
12:39Man, oh man, you've got to see that figure.
12:41Well, Time Jumper, I'm living for the now.
12:43And right now, that's a good looking leech,
12:45especially if you have and have been collecting the seven inch scale.
12:48I know I did leech dirty by not picking them up sooner.
12:51I think the biggest thing, as I said in this review,
12:53that faulted the figure was just the availability of him.
12:55I could go to any site, any site.
12:58In fact, just throw out some names for sites where you can pick up your figures.
13:01And I bet you I could find a Masterverse leech on there.
13:04He was quite readily stocked.
13:06And because of that, I never really felt an urgency to get him right away
13:10because I could always say to myself, I could get leech another day.
13:14Sure enough, though, one of those days would come around
13:17where if I decided I want to pick up a leech, out of stock, out of stock,
13:22big loser behind the camera who waited as long.
13:24Sure enough, though, finally, Amazon had a price that I guess I just said to myself,
13:28okay, you know, $27, $28, I can afford that.
13:32And I decided to then finally pick up leech.
13:34Watch now, Lady Luck, laugh down at me and say,
13:37well, you know, now that you've picked yourself up Masterverse leech,
13:40Mattel will just be announcing a brand new leech.
13:42Leech bigger, bolder, and suckier than before.
13:46I'm still happy that I grabbed this one.
13:47I like the look of that leech's face.
13:48He does kind of look like he's kind of like a kissy piranha.
13:52I don't know what species really is leech,
13:54and I'm assuming there's probably more of them.
13:56He does come and include some pretty cool accessories.
13:58A whip.
13:59I don't think the whip really was necessary,
14:01but it's something at least to offset the fact
14:03the figure can't really fire a crossbow.
14:05He just voice commands the crossbow to fire.
14:09The crossbow, though, while having a similar design
14:12of the one that we've already gotten before,
14:14it's a different head, so at least there's at least that.
14:17Yeah, from head to toe,
14:19even though he really does he technically have toes,
14:21he's got big flat feet.
14:23Something very creepy about people that have flat feet.
14:25Here I am talking about Winterfresh.
14:27I'm not talking about flat feet.
14:28What are we going on here?
14:29In the end, though, I'm finally happy to have leech
14:31as part of my collection.
14:33I know, again, it's been a while since this guy has been released,
14:36but finally, I don't have to keep going to sites.
14:38It's finally sustained myself.
14:39You know, one day, one day I'm going to pick up the figure.
14:42One day was right away.
14:44Well, right away about a couple of days ago.
14:47What do you guys think of Masterverse leech
14:49and what likelihood there is?
14:51Now, the guy behind the camera has finally picked him up.
14:54Mattel's not just going to announce a brand new leech.
14:56By the way, as a releasing note,
14:59I am really excited for that new Hordak.
15:01That Hordak looks chef's kiss.
15:04Not maybe like leech's kiss.
15:06That's the kind of kiss you would want to stay clear up.
15:09Or is it?
15:11I think that was just, I just, I think I told him to fire off the crossbow.
15:16That was leech, by the way, though.
15:17If you enjoyed the video, do it a song, throw it a like.
15:19I won't be doing that anymore, by the way.
15:21If you certainly want to stick around for more so,
15:23and I hope so, hit that subscribe, turn on the bell.
15:26So that gives you, you know, obviously all the reminders,
15:28the notifications from YouTube, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
15:31That new video content is coming your way.
15:33Again, video content coming your way.
15:35Yes, there will be more of that stuff.
15:38All the stuff I just said.
15:40There's lots more of that coming your way.
15:41So as always, thanks for watching.
15:43See you guys next time.
